Changelogs
Designed to be the most immersive and best-looking SkyrimVR experience possible, Panda's Sovngarde takes you to a Nordic paradise. This carefully curated list stays close to the vanilla game, but upgraded in every way possible with enhanced visuals and immersive VR gameplay. With over 1500 mods and growing, this is the ultimate way to experience SkyrimVR whether you're new to the game or have been playing since 2011.

My goal with this mod list was to create the most immersive experience possible. It is compatible ONLY with SkyrimVR and can be installed using Wabbajack. I made this mod list because I have tried nearly every single Wabbajack mod list for SkyrimVR and I wasn't satisfied with any of them. There are many good ones, but they all had weird tradeoffs that I didn't like. And so I started creating this mod list in early 2023 to create the ultimate mod list with nothing held back.

This list focuses on visual fidelity and immersive VR gaming. I tried to not step too far away from a vanilla/lore-friendly experience, though I'm sure there are many that will disagree with the choices I have made. It was built on top of FUS, so it includes all of the standard VR-enhancing mods that should be included in every SkyrimVR list.

I would say this list is still in beta, but VERY close to a full release. It is definitely as stable (or sometimes more so) as many of the other SkyrimVR lists I've tried. I'm currently playing through the main story, and once I've done that without any major issues (lately only been finding cosmetic issues), then I will confidently release the 1.0 version of the list.

FEATURES (this is not a comprehensive list)
I recommend reading the sections below to understand what you'll be playing, especially the first two sections that focus more on the actual gameplay. Additionally, you can see all of the mods included here. Part of the experience of playing a modded Skyrim is learning how to use some of the gameplay mods included, which may require going to the individual mod pages and reading more about what they do and how they work. I recommend doing this gradually, learning how one new mod works every single play session.

Please note, I'm doing my best to keep these sections up to date, but there may be some minor inaccuracies. I'm also working on adding more sections with more details on the mods included.

VR MECHANICS
Spoiler:
Show
This mod list includes all of the standard VR mechanics that should be in every single VR mod list:

VRIK Player Avatar gives you a full body and IK system. Additionally, it gives you holsters for weapons and items and an input gesture system that allows binding actions to gestures on each hand. This single mod removes the need for menus by allowing you to sheathe weapons on your body and use gestures to equip and cast spells/shouts. If there is one mod you spend time learning to use, it should be this one.
Spell Wheel VR is another mod that removes the need for menus to equip spells, weapons, shields, arrows, potions, poisons, food, torch, armors and more. Open the spell wheel by holding grip and trigger at the same time, hold your hand over the item you want, and let go to equip. There are also multiple pages you can swipe through to access most of your inventory without ever opening a menu.
HIGGS provides hand/weapon collision, weapon two-handing, realistic object grabbing, and gravity gloves-style mechanics for Skyrim VR.
PLANCK allows characters to interact with physics. They can be grabbed, and hit detection is more accurate.
Swap Drop and Hold allows you to equip/drop weapons you're holding using a spell assigned to VRIK gestures. With the included settings, holding grip and swiping forward and then back (like punching forward) will activate the spell. This can be reassigned to another gesture in the VRIK MCM settings.
MageVR is an optional mod that I only use for looting. With it, you can place items over your shoulder to put them into your inventory. Additionally, this mod gives you a backpack for accessing your inventory without menus, new immersive lockpicking mechanics, glyph spell casting, hand pose magic, and several other features that are already available with other mods (which do it better in my opinion).
Navigate VR gives you a functional compass that points north and "physical" maps you can use to navigate Skyrim immersively. You spawn with a compass and 2 maps and can purchase more detailed maps in each hold, including a special cartographer's map from khajiit caravans that has more utility.
Be Seated simply allows you to sit down on any chair in Skyrim. By default, I removed the sitting prompts telling you to sit in real life.
Sprint Jump VR allows for a height boost if you jump while sprinting.
Immersive Smithing allows you to immersively improve armor and weapons by actually swinging a hammer. To get started with the in-game tutorial, just craft and then equip a blacksmith's hammer at any forge.
Immersive Tree Chopping VR simply lets you chop trees to get firewood. Just hit any tree with a woodcutter's axe, and it will drop firewood.
Realistic Mining and VR Refit allows you to mine ore by actually swinging your pickaxe. Don't forget to pick up the ingots that will drop! Also lets you chop wood immersively at a chopping block.
Werewolf and Vampire Lord Body for VR simply gives you a full body when playing as one of these monsters.
- Drop on Death will cause NPCs to drop items in their inventory when they die, allowing you to loot without opening a menu. By default, only large items (weapons) will drop to the ground requiring you to still use the vanilla loot for smaller items.
Gift by Hand VR let's you give followers items without menus. To work, you need to have the item you're giving in one hand and grab the follower with your other hand. Put items in their hands to go to their inventory, and drop potions/food by their head and they'll immediately consume it. Double grasp the follower (grab-release-grab) and the items given will be equipped. Triple grasp to access their inventory.
VR Equip lets you equip armor by dropping it onto your body. Just drop it near the location where that piece of armor goes, and it should be equipped. This sometimes doesn't work for me.
Interactive AI lets you play fetch with dogs. Just throw a dog bone, and they'll fetch it. Can also drop meat near dogs to feed them.
Dialogue Movement Enabler VR simply lets you move around while in dialogue.
Soul Gauge gives you equippable gloves and rings that track your health, magicka, and stamina; allowing you to remove those bars from your hud for more immersion.
No Stagger Mod, Instant Equip VR, and Haptic Skyrim VR are all quality-of-life improvements that make SkyrimVR more immersive and fun.
- Steeds of Ultima fixes a bug that prevents you from using weapons while mounted on a horse.
- Yelling at the Sky gives you a dedictated gesture to transform into a werewolf or vampire lord.

This list also includes several optional VR mods that are not enabled by default but are still included in the OPTIONS section of the mod list:

Auto Sneak and Jump VR allows you to sneak and jump in the game by crouching and jumping physically in real life. I leave this disabled since I often play sitting down.
Physical Dodge VR allows you to dodge by physically moving in real life. This includes stepping to one side quickly, juking or moving to one side then suddenly changing directions, and ducking quickly.
Crouch to Dodge VR allows you to crouch (either physically or with the in-game sneak button) to dodge attacks, giving you i-frames.
bHaptics Tactsuit for bHaptics users.
Real Virtual Magic connects a brain-computer interface to Skyrim VR to control magic.
Durability VR uses a health-based degradation system for weapons and armor, and broken items can be repaired by tempering them.
Stop Trigger Unsheathing for VR disables the sheathe function completely. I disabled it because it makes it difficult to punch in-game since you need to unsheathe your fists to punch.

Some other combat-related VR mods can be found in the combat section of this list.

GAMEPLAY OVERHAULS
Spoiler:
Show
When it comes to gameplay, this mod list has two goals: to enhance vanilla gameplay and to enhance immersion. I feel like this is best achieved with the Simonrim suite of mods, with some notable exceptions:

Arena is used in conjunction with Open World Loot (more on OWL in the Armor and Weapons section) to enhance enemy levels for a more difficult and interesting experience. Other enemy overhauls outlined below.
Apothecary is used over CACO as a more lightweight alchemy overhaul. It balances existing potions and poisons and adds new effects that fit right into the vanilla effects.
Gourmet is used in conjunction with Apothecary to replace CACO as a cooking overhaul. Food now has a reason to exist, giving you various buffs to Health, Magicka, or Stamina regeneration.
Adamant overhauls the perk tree in an enhanced vanilla way. I never liked long complicated perk trees that other mods offered as they always felt very overwhelming. Someone who has played Skyrim more than me may disagree and may wish to replace this with a more complicated perk tree overhaul.
- Stormcrown overhauls Shouts by fixing various bugs and rebalancing the existing shouts. Two forgettable shouts (Disarm and Animal Allegiance) have been replaced. This mod also introduces a new perk tree, but that perk tree is inaccessible in VR. Shouts perks are still available in the Speech perk tree.
Aetherius overhauls the race perks and complements Mundus, which overhauls the standing stones. Between the two, passive effects now allow for more interesting gameplay choices, without straying too far from vanilla.
Thaumaturgy overhauls enchanting by balancing existing enchantments and adding interesting new enchantments to the game. It removes useless or bugged enchantments (no 100% cost reduction), eliminates the crafting loop, and much more.
Sorcerer is a staff and scroll overhaul allowing you to craft scrolls and staves with spells from Mysticism (already included). This adds new crafting tables that have missing textures in the VR version of the game, but I decided to leave this mod in anyway.
Artificer is an artifact overhaul with the goal of allowing top-level artifacts to rival the power of even the best-crafted items, allowing players to create competitive, high-level characters without investing in a crafting skill.
Pilgrim is a much simpler and more enjoyable religion overhaul. Instead of remembering to pray or follow specific tenets to gain favor with deities, the various shrines now act similarly to the standing stones, giving you the passive effects of the last shrine you prayed at.
Scion and Manbeast overhaul vampires and werewolves respectively. They balance existing mechanics and add new abilities for more interesting gameplay choices.
Blade and Blunt overhauls Skyrim's combat by enhancing the existing mechanics instead of trying to replace them with mechanics from other games. It also includes a simple injury mechanic that reduces your max health and can be healed by resting for a period of time.

- Journeyman makes fast travel rather annoying and does not work in VR. Instead, Carriage and Ferry Travel Overhaul allows for more flexibility when traveling by carriage if you're playing a no-fast-travel playthrough.
- Hand to Hand is EXCLUDED from this list as I'm not a fan of merging the Lockpicking and Pickpocket perk trees just to add a new one. This feels like too big of a step away from vanilla for me.
- Starfrost is incompatible with VR. In its place for an optional survival experience are Sunhelm, Campfire, and Tentapalooza. Sunhelm includes hunger, thirst, fatigue, and hypothermia. Instead of annoyingly dying, you'll simply receive debuffs to your health, magicka, and stamina when you are afflicted. This mod is optional, and you can choose to activate it when sleeping in-game for the first time.

In addition to the above Simonrim mods, there are a few other mods that enhance immersion and gameplay:

Simple Smithing Overhaul balances crafting recipes, adds the ability to break down most armor and weapons, lets you replicate artifacts without their enchantments, and allows you to upgrade unique leveled weapons and armor.
Trade & Barter and SkyRem Economy overhaul vendors with complete customizability. Various factors affect prices, including resources in the area, time of year, distance from large cities, the stage of the civil war, and more.

In addition to Arena, the following mods overhaul and balance enemies:

Lawless and Madmen are complete overhauls to Bandits, Forsworn, Hagraven, and Witch enemies with new enemy types, more leveled tiers, and improved spells and stats.
- Combat Pathing Revolution adds modern action game combat pathing AI into Skyrim.
- NPC Mage Balance Fix balances NPC mages by bringing them closer to the player in terms of magicka use and regeneration.
- Realistic AI Detection improves and balances the realism of sneaking. I chose the medium interior medium exterior option, as that is what's recommended for the lighting mods installed, but it can be replaced with other options from the mod page.
- Locational Encounter Zones makes enemies guarding a location the same level as the ones inside.

In addition to this, there are many more mods that improve many of Skyrim's mechanics and fixes annoying bugs inherent in the vanilla game.

COMBAT
Spoiler:
Show
For combat, I wanted to remain true to the vanilla Skyrim experience while adding more interesting playstyles and enhancing it for VR:

- Locational Damage allows you to deal extra damage depending on which part of the body you hit with your arrows or spells.
Strike Obstruction Systems allows the player to block spells, shouts, enchants, and poisons. The better the timing of your block, the better it mitigates the attack. A well-timed block can result in a short moment of slow motion.
Pseudo Physical Weapon Collision and Parry causes your weapons and the enemy's weapons to collide during attacks, allowing you to parry and nullify enemy attacks. A well-timed parry can result in a short moment of slow motion.
- Weapon Throw VR allows you to throw your equipped weapons. This mod is extremely customizable, allowing you to control the aim assist, what weapons can be thrown, if weapons return back to you, and more.
- Dual Wield Block VR allows you to block attacks while dual-wielding (two weapons, spell-blade, or both hands unarmed).

- Archery overhauls bows to feel like a real bow. Gravity now affects your arrows, requiring you to aim higher the farther your target is, just like in real life.
Simple Realistic Archery VR requires you to equip another arrow each time you use one. Just reach over your shoulder and press trigger to grab another arrow.
- Sighted Crossbows and Simple Iron Sights for Sighted Crossbows adds very simple sights, making it easier to aim crossbows.

Mysticism and Apocalypse add hundreds of new spells to the game. Mysticism in particular overhauls the base magic system, fixing bugs, filling in gaps in the skill progression, and adding spells from previous Elder Scrolls titles.
Dino's Spell Discovery overhauls the way you learn magic. You can still learn spells the vanilla way of eating spell tomes, but additionally, you can learn spells immersively through research, reverse engineering scrolls and staves, and more. You can also "archive" spells you don't use anymore, cleaning up your magic menu.
Spellsiphon optionally provides a whole new way to experience magic without using menus. Fundamentally, you use Spellsiphon to absorb energy from things around you and then cast an elemental spell depending on what you siphoned. Combine this with various combos and chains to make your attacks more powerful and fun. The depth of this mod is actually insane and it is a joy to use. You can learn how to use it with a tutorial built into the game through a book or ignore it completely if you don't want to use it.
Conduit allows you to conduct spells through weapons for a short time on top of existing enchantments. Just equip a spell in your off-hand and then grab your weapon with that hand to conduct the spell through the weapon.
Magic Improvements for Skyrim VR improves dual casting, scales spell effects based on your current magicka percentage, spell aiming is smoothed depending on spell level, and you can edit the yaw/roll of spell aiming in addition to the pitch in the base game. I leave these settings so that it shoots out of your palms, but can be adjusted so that magic shoots out like you're aiming a gun.

Stormcrown overhauls Shouts by fixing various bugs and rebalancing the existing shouts. Two forgettable shouts (Disarm and Animal Allegiance) have been replaced. This mod also introduces a new perk tree, but that perk tree is inaccessible in VR. Shouts perks are still available in the Speech perk tree.
Individual Shout Cooldowns gives each shout their own cooldowns instead of the vanilla global cooldown.

LIGHTING, WEATHER, & SHADERS
Spoiler:
Show
This mod list is built around LUX and LUX Orbis. These lighting overhauls alone make Skyrim look like a modern game, even without an ENB. Pair LUX Orbis with a good weather mod, and you honestly don't even need an ENB to make Skyrim feel next-gen. Notably, Lux Via is excluded from this list.

The only weather mod included is now Azurite Weathers II because, in my opinion, it is the best-looking weather mod (and I've tried all of them). Additionally, it comes with a spell in-game that allows you to customize the look, which is a nice way to add some variety to the gameplay. I recommend using the spell to set the worldview to bleak to get a slightly filmic look. Previously this mod list used Cathedral Weathers, and if you are experiencing performance issues I recommend swapping Azurite Weathers out for Cathedral Weathers. They're both fantastic weather mods made by the same author.

Notably, there are no ENBs included in this list anymore. I do not recommend using an ENB in VR because they destroy performance, aren't compatible with Community Shaders, and I honestly don't like how any of them look.

In place of ENB, I use Community Shaders which adds Grass Lighting, Grass Collision, Light Limit Fix, Screen-Space Shadows, Water Caustics, Subsurface Scattering, Dynamic Cubemaps, Wetness Effects, and Complex Parallax Materials. With these effects, Community Shaders far surpasses what was possible with ENB in VR and at a fraction of the cost.

Along with the above mods there are several mods that add ENB lights (thanks to Community Shaders) and improved fire, special effects, weather effects, rain, fog, snow, etc.

TREES, GRASS, & PLANTS
Spoiler:
Show
This mod list uses Traverse the Ulvenwald for the trees with Nature of the Wild Lands for some unique trees and forest debris. I tested and compared over a dozen different tree mods and ultimately settled on Nature of the Wild Lands originally, but decided to change it because of how bad the tree LODs looked. I settled on Ulvenwald because, like Nature of the Wild Lands, it adds more trees to Skyrim; both increasing the variety and density. That said, I still like some of the unique trees from Nature of the Wild Lands and some of the forest debris and was able to retain those with a patch.

For grass, I settled on QW's Grass Patch 2 which combines some of my favorite grass mods: Folkvangr, Origins of the Forest, and Cathedral 3D Pine Grass. There is an optional grass add-on that reduces the amount of grass if you're hurting for performance. There's also an optional Dyndolod output with grass LODs, which is disabled by default because of the heavy performance imapct.

In addition to the above mods, I've added Immersive Fallen Trees, HD Dead Trees and Driftwood, and several other textures and mesh replacers for the various plants that all work together to give the flora of Skyrim a beautiful, yet realistic look.

WATER, LANDSCAPE, & ROCKS
Spoiler:
Show
This mod list uses Realistic Water Two which, in combination with Community Shader's Water Caustics and Dynamic Cubemaps, looks pretty amazing. Along with this, Natural Waterfalls makes all of the waterfalls in Skyrim look remarkably more realistic.

For landscapes, I've extensively tested the most popular landscape texture mods and ultimately settled on HD Remastered Landscapes. Every other landscape texture had at least one thing I couldn't stand, but HD Remastered Landscapes gets everything just right. Plus it is compatible with Terrain Parallax Blending Fix, which helps blend landscape seams that are prevalent in parallax terrain textures.

Atlantean Landscapes is included in this list for its amazing mountain and rock textures, but nearly everything else is overwritten by HD Remastered Landscapes and other mods. Additionally, this mod pack uses Majestic Mountains and Skyrim - A Mountainous Experience.

CITIES & INTERIORS
Spoiler:
Show
This mod list is built on top of JK's Skyrim and every one of JK's interior overhauls. Notably, JK's city outskirts are excluded from this mod list. They feel like too drastic of a change from vanilla, and they don't really add anything substantial to the experience. I also had clipping issues, especially with grass, and ultimately decided they weren't worth including.

I've also looked into other large city and town overhauls and decided to avoid most of them because they're too drastic of a change from vanilla. I may explore adding some in the future if they fit in with the aesthetic of Skyrim and don't feel too foreign, but I'm not a fan of adding random buildings that don't actually have any purpose for the game. If I do add more city and town additions in the future, I'll include them in a separate profile for those that want them.

In addition to the above overhauls, I've included a few other more specific overhauls and city additions to enhance the experience:

-  I've included Obscure's College of Winterhold with a patch that merges it with JK's College of Winterhold to create the ultimate College experience.
Juniper's Dawnstar Sanctuary, GG's Thieves Guild, Castle Volkihar Rebuilt, and various other mods all provide faction-specific overhauls.
- Bells of Skyrim adds bells to the cities to alert the city of Dragon attacks.
- Outlaws Refuges adds a hideaway in every major city for outlaws. I mainly added this to have a fence available, even if I don't join the Thieve's Guild.
- Quaint Raven Rock, Tactical ValtheimSerenity, Simplicity of Settlements - Dragon Bridge and more mods overhaul various locations throughout the game.
- Khajiit Has Wares overhauls the Khajiit merchant tents.

GENERAL OVERHAULS & RETEXTURES
Spoiler:
Show
I'm working on writing this section, there is a LOT here that overhauls nearly every single texture/model in the game.

CREATURES
Spoiler:
Show
This list includes overhauls for every single creature in Skryim. All creatures have improved textures and, in many cases, improved models that were hand-picked for each creature in the world. All of these overhauls work together with Fluffworks to offer enhanced fur on all fluffy animals using shell texturing. It is honestly stunning to see how much more realistic animals look thanks to this mod, and it is by far one of my favorite additions to Skyrim outside of parallax. This fluffiness is extended to many armors that have animal fur and also to pelts. The pelts that appear on walls and floors look better with parallax, however, so I opted to use parallax textures for those in place of shell texturing.

The AI of all creatures has been improved with Skytest, which fixes a few bugs, makes combat more interesting and challenging, makes creature AI more intelligent and realistic with unique personalities (some animals will be scared of fire, bears will hibernate in winter, etc.), and adds some new creatures to add light variation to farm and wild animals. A Dog's Life and Convenient Horses overhaul dog and horse functionality respectively.

Dynamic Animal Variants (SPID), Splendor, and Diverse Werewolves Collection add texture variety to many of the animals, dragons, and were-beasts of Skyrim. Improved Fish and Sea of Spirits add some new aquatic creatures. All of these, along with Skytest, add just enough variety to Skyrim to make it feel more realistic but without breaking immersion.

NPCs
Spoiler:
Show
I probably spent more time working on NPCs and Armor than any other type of mod in this list. I wanted pleasant-looking NPCs with a lot of variety.

To increase the sheer number of NPCs, I've included all of the popular NPC mods such as Interesting NPCs, Diverse Skyrim, Immersive World Encounters, and more. Notably, Citizens of Tamriel is excluded for adding too many annoying or unimmersive characters. Populated Cities Towns Villages is also excluded for adding NPCs that have no life or purpose, which I found distracting and unimmersive.

Additionally, there are tons of added followers including the most popular followers like Inigo, Sofia, Lucifer, and many more. Even if you don't use these followers, I added them to simply add more interactable NPCs to the world. Some of these followers may have minor cosmetic issues (neck seams), but I think they're still worth having. I've also included Nether's Follower Framework for managing your followers.

For visuals, I'm using Nordic Faces as a base NPC overhaul. I find it to be the best looking vanilla+ overhaul and it's the most lightweight overhaul, using zero plugins. On top of this are several overhauls for specific NPCs:

- Kalilies NPCs, Pandorable's NPCs, and Bijin NPCs overhaul the vast majority of named NPCs in the game.
- RS Children overhauls all of the children in the game to look less like potato heads.
- BeastHHBB overhauls all of the Argonians and Khajiit in the game including every single named NPC.
- Additional Dremora faces overhauls the Dremora to provide more variety

In addition to the above overhauls are several mods to improve the skin, hair, eyes, beards, bodies, and other parts of NPCs.

- I use CBBE 3BA and HIMBO along with a SFW custom preset for Bodyslide. It is based on the 3BA vanilla preset, but with some "enhancements." Designed to balance natural/realistic with fun/attractive while avoiding any clipping or obvious issues.
- In the OPTIONS section is included an NSFW Bodyslide output that gives all female NPCs a nude body in place of underwear. This is based on the preset described above, but with less "support" since there is none.
- A variety of mods are included to add immersive physics to NPCs. It is kept extremely realistic and not over the top, literally just some added immersion. This will also add physics to some specific clothing options.
- BnP Female Skin and BnP Male Skin along with Racial Skin Varience provides skin retextures with a ton of subtle variety to NPCs based on their race.
- Forgotten Argonian Roots and Better Khajiit Retextures (both the male and female versions) provide scale/fur retextures for the beast races.
- KS Hairdos, Salt and Wind, Beard Stubbles and Beards all overhaul NPCs' hair.
- Misc. other mods improve scars, eyes, teeth, and other NPC features.

In addition to this are several animation replacements and additions thanks to Open Animation Replacer and Nemesis. Notably, Conditional Armor Type Animations in combination with several other mods makes it so that all NPCs will walk/run differently depending on their gender and what armor they're wearing. If they're wearing heavy armor, it will look like they're carrying the weight of heavy armor. It will also look different for light armor, regular clothes, and even high-level mages will have their own movement animations.

Dialogue is improved with the full suite of Lines Expansion mods which add variety to enemy voice lines, Relationship Dialogue Overhaul, Follower Commentary Overhaul, Guard Dialogue Overhaul, Serana Dialogue Add-On, Misc. Dialogue Edits, Realistic Conversations and many many more dialogue mods. Notably More To Say is excluded because I didn't like having too many inconsequentional dialogue options. I've also excluded any AI generated dialogue mods because they're too obviously AI generated, which breaks immersion for me.

In addition to the above changes, there are several mods included that overhaul NPCs' behaviors:

- Most notably AI Overhaul makes vanilla NPCs have more realistic and immersive behaviors.
- Bard Instrumentals Mostly makes it so Bards will mostly play instrumentals (they'll still sing, just rarely) and BA Bard Songs adds over 100 instrumental pieces that bards can play in taverns.
- Simple Follower Sandbox will make all followers interact with the world around them, more like Serana, instead of always being at attention.
- Run for Your Lives simply makes it so NPCs run for their lives when a dragon attacks.
- NPCs Wear Amulets of Mara PLUS makes it so NPCs looking to get married will now follow their own custom of wearing the amulet of Mara; and Married NPCs Wear Wedding Bands does exactly what its title says.
- Misc. other mods add more minor enhancements to NPC behaviors to make them more realistic and immersive.

WEAPONS & ARMOR
Spoiler:
Show
I also spent a significant amount of time on the Weapons & Armors to overhaul all of the vanilla items and add some interesting new items that fit into the world of Tamriel. Cathedral Armory provides the base foundation for vanilla weapons & armor. aMidianBorn Book of Silence is included, but only for the Light Content Addon to add more variety to the options in-game. Pretty much all of the vanilla weapons and armor retextures are from xavbio and their amazing collection of retextures. On top of that are a variety of mesh or texture overhauls to enhance the vanilla items:

- LeanWolf's Better-Shaped Weapons resizes the weapons to be a much more realistic and immersive shape.
- Rustic Clothing and Rustic Amulets provide amazing retextures for all of the clothes and amulets respectively.
- Prince and the Pauper overhauls children's clothing to ensure there is a proper distinction between upper and lower classes.
- Tail Armors adds armor for the beast races to wear around their tails
- Guards Armor Replacer, Sleek Wolf Armor, Truly Light Elven Armor, Truly Light Glass Armor, and Dark Brotherhood Armor provide alternative armor meshes that are a huge improvement in my opinion.
- ElSopa's Quivers Redone, Iron Weapons Redone, Shields Part I, and Hold Guard Shields provides amazing overhauls for their respective items.

In addition the vanilla items, there are a variety of new weapons added that are craftable, added in unique locations or integrated through SPID/OWL.

I'm working on writing this section. More details to come soon!

ADDED CONTENT
Spoiler:
Show
I'm working on writing this section. I didn't add a whole lot of new content, just a few small things like player homes that I really liked.

OPTIONS
Spoiler:
Show
I recently added an options section with a variety of optional mods to customize and optimize your experience.

- DynDOLOD with grass LODs can be enabled to add grass LODs, though it will hurt performance.
- Lower Grass Density Addon will improve performance significantly while making grass look significantly worse.
- Bodyslide Output - NSFW Addon removes female underwear.
- Unlimited Sprinting does exactly what it says.
NVIDIA Reflex Support and VR FPS Stabilizer are both recommended to improve performance.
- A variety of controller options are provided, mostly from FUS and you can read about them here. I prefer using the Cangar Spellsiphon bindings while setting up VRIK gestures, then I switch over to Cangar no button for powers when comfortable with how my VRIK gestures are setup.
- DLAA is enabled by default, but you may want to switch over to DLSS or FSR if you're hurting for performance.
- I highly recommend enabling Skyrim VR OpenComposite Fixes Custom Build along with one of the optional stabilizers if you're using a supported headset (Quest for example). This increased my frame rate by about 15 FPS.
- There are variety of UI optional mods included if you want to hide UI, use RaceMenu, or have a Quickloot menu similar to Fallout
- I've added several music addons if you want more variety with the music. All of these fit within the world, but I personally only keep one enabled when I play. Also included is Yggdrasil, which replaces all music and some SFX to create a dark nordic experience which is pretty awesome.
- LUX brightness options are available; I personally like to keep homes and shops brighter and caves a bit darker
- And finally there are a variety of optional mods that I don't have enabled by default, but are fun to have. This includes a variety of VR immersion mods that I personally don't like to use, but others may want to try such as Auto Sneak and Jump VR and bHaptics.

INSTALLATION

If you're not familiar with installing a mod list using Wabbajack, please see this video guide I made for another mod list, with a few small changes:

  • When you get to the step of opening Wabbajack and selecting the mod list to install, simply select "install from disk" and then select the .wabbajack file that you should have downloaded from this mod page.
  • If the mod list fails to install; make sure you have enough space for the list (requires just under 500 GBs of space), make sure you followed the preparation steps as outlined in the video above, and then retry installing. Sometimes all it takes is a second try!
  • When the modlist finishes installing, open up MO2 and go to the OPTIONS section to customize your experience as needed. Whenever you enable mods, restore the plugin backup load order above the right panel to make sure the plugins are all sorted correctly.
  • Do NOT start a new save with OpenComposite enabled as this will prevent you from being able to name your character. Once you've named your character and made a save, then feel free to enable OpenComposite and  load your save.
  • If the screen in front of you has a black box or is messed up in any way, press the "END" key on your keyboard to open up the settings for upscaler mods. Here, just toggle "Use TAA for periphery" off and then on again.
  • When you launch the game and finish making your character, the MCM recorder will automatically set the MCM menus to my recommended settings. Wait until this finishes and all other messages in the top left disappear before doing anything just to make sure it all sets up properly.
  • Once MCM recorder finishes (a dialogue box will appear saying it is finished), the first thing you should do is use the VRIK calibration power to set your height properly. Do this every time you go from standing to sitting. By default, the left grip is how you activate powers and shouts with this mod list so just equip the VRIK Calibration power, then press left grip, select a height, then close the menu.
  • I also recommend equipping the Azurite Meditation power and setting the world view to bleak. This gives the game a slightly filmic look that I really like. You can also mess with this menu as much as you want to get the game to look the way you like.
  • With all of the done, you'll find yourself in the Realm of Lorkhan. For more information, read about it on the mod page. But essentially, this is a place for you to create your character and grab some starting equipment. When you're ready, use a crystal to teleport to anywhere in Skyrim. If you want a close to vanilla start (if you're new to Skyrim), use the crystal for Helgen, which can be found near the spawn next to the table on your left.
  • Go out and have fun!

UPDATING
I do not recommend updating in the middle of a playthrough as this is very likely to break your saves. Even if it doesn't immediately break your save, it may cause issues in the long run. I will do my best to not update the mod list with mods that break saves, but I CANNOT GUARANTEE THE SAFETY OF YOUR SAVES IF YOU UPDATE.

All of that said, if you still want to update, then follow these instructions:
  • Before updating, SAVE your game inside of a building. If you want to be extremely thorough, empty your inventory before saving. If the update reruns Dyndolod (check the update logs) then follow Dyndolod's procedures for a clean save.
  • Back up your saves. You cannot break a save you don't touch, so take your current save and copy it to your global saves in the MO2 profile menu as a backup. You can downgrade the mod list and restore this backup if your save breaks after the update.

Wabbajack will delete any files/mods that you may have added. To prevent this:
  • Create a backup of your load order (both left side and right side) and transfer these backups to somewhere else on your PC. They can be found in the profiles folder and should be called modlist.txt.datebackupwasmade and plugins.txt.datebackupwasmade. After updating, you can use these to get your load order back. The only downside is that any new mods added in the update will be disabled and sorted to the bottom. You'll need to enable these and manually sort them yourself.
  • Also make sure to add "[NoDelete] " to the beginning of every mods' name that you added. Make sure you include the space, both brackets, and exact capitalization (do not include quotation marks).

How to actually update:
  • Just update the mod list by downloading it the same way you did with the initial installation!
  • When you load into the game, use this mod and the instructions on its mod page to clean your save if you notice anything weird happening.

What to do if your save has issues after updating?
  • Reinstall this mod list using the original version you used when you started your playthrough. All versions of the mod list are kept on this page, just see which one you downloaded last and use that.
  • After downloading it, restore your save backup. Using the same save file you tested updating with will still have issues, so you must delete that and use the backup save.
  • Continue playing on that version of the mod list! If there are any particular mods added in an update that you're interested in, try adding them manually. Just check their mod page to see if it is safe to add mid-save!

PERFORMANCE
This is a large mod list with over 1400 active mods. It takes up about 400 GB of space. Also, it is designed for someone that has an RTX 3090 (me). And even with my high-end PC, I still use reprojection (SSW with Virtual Desktop) to get a solid frame rate in all environments. I've noticed that this list is specifically very VRAM intensive, using up to 17 GBs or more of VRAM. Do not expect good frame rates if you have a low-end PC with less VRAM, but even then you can probably use various techniques such as FSR, foveated rendering, ASW/SSW, etc. to make it playable on a decent rig. If you want a more performant mod list, I recommend checking out FUS. I will be working on optimizing this list and reducing the download size, but not at the cost of creating the best looking experience possible.

ADDING MODS
I purposefully have not included massive content mods like Legacy of the Dragonborn, Bruma, etc. because it would be a nightmare to maintain a large variety of them while keeping the list stable. Instead, it is up to you to decide which of these content mods you would like to try and to add them to the list yourself if you so desire. When adding mods, here are some things to keep in mind:

  • Make sure to add "[NoDelete] " to the beginning of every new mod's name to prevent it from being deleted when updating. Make sure you include the space, both brackets, and exact capitalization (do not include quotation marks). You can ignore this if you don't plan on updating.
  • You can keep all new mods at the bottom of the list on the left (updating will put them there anyways) and use LOOT to sort plugins on the right. LOOT is included with this list, and I specifically include an updated backup of my customized LOOT meta data with the list. You can find it in tools\LOOT-backup. Just extract the files to LOOT's data folder on your PC (C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\LOOT), then you can confidently use LOOT with any newly added mods knowing that it will follow all of the custom rules I've set to keep my list stable. Just make sure you're running the LOOT program through MO2; you should NEVER press the sort button that appears above the plugins tab in MO2 as this will ignore the custom rules I've created.
  • Many large content mods will require a lot of patches. LOOT should notify you if any mods are missing patches, which makes it pretty easy to get everything. I also like to check the requirements section under "mods requiring this file" to find relevant patches of the new mod I'm adding. You can also assume that certain mods, like LUX and LUX Orbis, will almost always require a patch for new content mods. Some patches can be found on their respective Nexus pages while some will simply require reinstalling mods already included in the list and selecting the proper options in their FOMOD. In either case, you should NOT overwrite or replace any mods in my list. Instead, give these patches a unique name and include them below the original mod in the left panel.
  • Synthesis is included with this list and should be run anytime large changes are made, especially related to NPCs and leveled lists (Synthesis functions as the bashed patch in this list). Before running Synthesis, you must disable "OWL Randomized Special Loot.esp" and then reenable it after running synthesis.
  • While you are free to add mods, I do not recommend removing mods from this list, especially if you're not already familiar with modding. While many mods may be safe to remove, there are some mods (marked in merged sections) that are merged together and should not be touched at all. Additionally, many mods rely on other mods and removing mods you're not familiar with may have unexpected side effects. For example, if you remove the tree mods and add another one, you'll start having issues with LODs until you rerun DynDOLOD.
  • For advanced modders, zedit is now included along with all data related to the merges I've created. If you know what you're doing, feel free to use this to unmerge, remove specific mods from a merge, add more mods to a merge, etc.

Thanks for checking out my mod list. I'll do my best to keep it updated and make it better as long as I'm still playing SkyrimVR :)
