This mod overhauls the looks of named Khajiit to add some (lore-friendly!) diversity.

Khajiit are bound to the Lunar Lattice, the ja'Kha'jay. The phases of Masser and Secunda at birth determine the form a Khajiit takes in life.


While Skyrim’s default, lynx-like Khajiit design suits its northern aesthetic, it doesn’t represent established Khajiit lore very well. Khajiit morphology is a really unique bit of worldbuilding that rarely gets used to its full potential (especially in the actual games.) So after finally getting comfortable with modding, I decided to make a mod that tries to add a little of that spice to Skyrim.

There are 17 different kinds of Khajiit- this mod currently includes 7 additional types to Skyrim's default Khajiit (which I consider Cathay.)
You'll see:
  • Dagi/Dagi-Raht- "Physically, they have facial features that are comparable to that of lynxes and are short in stature, making them among the smallest of the furstocks.”
  • Cathay-Raht- "Khajiit of this furstock were nicknamed as 'jaguar-men' by the Imperial Geographical Society."
  • Ohmes- "They resemble Bosmer, though they are sometimes shorter. To avoid being mistaken as such, many Ohmes tattoo or paint their faces to resemble a feline aspect."
  • Ohmes-Raht- "In contrast to men and mer, the body of an Ohmes-raht is covered by light fur, and they do have a tail."
  • Pahmar/Pahmar-Raht- "Due to them being the strongest of furstocks, they are usually deployed as bodyguards and warriors... they resemble Senche-Tigers."
  • Suthay/Suthay-Raht- "They are similar in height and build to the races of man, but [...] they have digitigrade legs. The Suthay-raht furstock was the  most common in Morrowind near the end of the Third Era."
  • Tojay- "Little is known of the Tojay, except that they live in the southern marshes and jungle regions of Elsweyr, as well as the Tenmar Forest."

Q: Where are their new clothes?
A: No new clothes are added with this mod, screenshots are taken with my personal outfit mod that I don't want to distribute. The mod does change a few digitigrade NPCs' Outfit Records by removing their shoes.

Q: Will it work with…
A:
  • Other NPC overhaul mods?  Yes if it doesn’t edit Khajiit NPCs. Maybe if it does- you will have to load my mod after it or make a patch for mixing and matching NPCs.
  • Mods that edit the Khajiit Race? Yes. My mod no longer edits the vanilla Khajiit Race, so there are no conflicts.
  • Mods that edit Khajiit NPC inventories? If the items are distributed via SPID or another script, yes. Otherwise no, it will need a patch.
  • Mods that edit Armor Addon records (ex. other custom race mods)?  Will likely need a patch.

Q: What about (insert body mod here?)
A: There are patches for CBBE, UNP, and SoS (body textures only) as well as Tempered Male Skins - Vanilla Body (or similar mods that use the feet meshes from Better Male Bodies) but I'm not providing support for any of them, due to lack of resources on certain textures.
I do not use modded bodies, so I can not help you with this.

Q: I don't like [insert complaint] of this NPC: change it for me?
A: No. I recommend using SSE Edit to cater the mod to your liking (see sticky post for EasyNPC help.) Make sure you also edit any patches you're using. I won't provide support for editing out NPCs, whatever the method, so DON'T ask me!

Q: Texture resolution?
A: 2k large textures. 4k and 1k versions are also available.

Q: Are the new Khajiit types playable?
A: No. Some of them are already playable mods (see Article on how to achieve each furstock's look for your own character.) I will never make them playable and do NOT recommend any mods making them playable: this is due to the fact the new races are missing important scripts for vampirism/lycanthropy and possibly more. They are not set up to be truly playable.

Q: Can i install this midgame having never installed any previous version?
A: It should be okay, but I can’t guarantee it. I highly recommend using Save Unbaker. Do NOT install on a game where a pre-4.0 version of PJKJ was installed.

Q: How did you get that KS Hairdo to work on a Khajiit?
A: Tutorial here.

Q: Does the game consider them actual Khajiit?
A: As much as I can get it to. recognize them without adding RaceCompatibility as a master (they all have the IsBeastRace keyword.) Bandits might not threaten to turn them into rugs specifically, but since they're bits of code with no sense of immersion, they don't care if they get generic threats.

Q: I want RaceMenu presets!
A: I'm not interested in making any (this includes releasing the NPC designs.) Check out Vaharadaro's presets, they're gorgeous, and I've used a few as a bases for some NPCs.

Q: Does this work with x mod?
A: If I don't use it, I don't know. If I do use it, I've probably made a patch. If I don't use the mod, I won't make a patch. Try it out for yourself and leave a comment.

Q: Are you a furry?
A: Nope! Just read a lot of Zoo Books and issues of CatFancy in my youth. Skyrim Khajiit really missed the mark and look uncanny compared to real cats.
