Fixes some crashes associated with Serve as Soldier. Now you can enter town and tavern missions while serving in the army or talk to a lord in a mission (like the keep) and ask to join the warband. You also won't have to bribe guards to access the keep when serving in the owner's warband.

Wanderers now don't escape automatically when imprisoned. They will remain companions of the clan that hired them. From what I can tell they will be given a chance to escape like any other hero. Being a wanderer or companion does not hinder or prevent escaping from what I can tell. Any hero imprisoned will have their escape chance evaluated. They will be released from their clan once they are free and not in a party.
Dialogue to hire a captured wanderer will be blocked if your clan is at the companion limit.

Patched Test.DisbandParty so it transfers your prisoners over to the warband leader's party too. It will not disband any heroes. If you are doing the quest to capture a rival lord, it will not fail, and he will stay in your party's prisoner list. So, ask for leave whenever you want to deliver him. Or maybe you will run into the lord you need to deliver them to.
Fixed it so when it transfers your troops over, it transfers them with the proper wounded count and the xp they had gained.

Thanks to this mod I served until I was tier 7 and then the ruler of the kingdom rewarded me a fief for the hundreds of enemies I killed in the name of the true emperor. This mod allows Serve As Soldier to work 100% and even improves it. Do not listen to these people that say this nonsense:
i dont know why this mod is still up, it has destroyed so many people's saves as it will cause a crash later down the road if you install this mod into your save.

Do not use the SaS Fix mod - I'm not 100% certain but users who have used this have reported a random crash later in the game. If you are applying this after already starting a game, then you'll have to start a new game.

This is just a patch for Serve As Soldier. You still need to install Serve As Soldier to use this.

Until the original author implements these fixes or their own fixes then yes.
Items currently fixed while you are serving in the army:
Entering the tavern and town center without crashing. Patched a few different TW methods in PlayerTownVisitCampaignBehavior when clicking options in the town menu to load the town properly before entering the mission. Also had to patch PlayerEncounter.get_InsideSettlement.
Asking to serve in a lord's warband while in the keep mission without crashing. This will avoid the null object crash associated with the mod calling the code GameMenu.ExitToLast(). Patches Test.JoinPartyAction in SaS.
Added access the leader of your warband's keep if you ever need to talk to them without needing to bribe guards. I thought it made sense since you would technically be one of their guards and know the guards. v1.0.1
Fix for cavalry detachment related crash. Patched AiVisitSettlementBehavior.IsSettlementSuitableForVisitingCondition v1.0.2
Fix for loss of personal gear. Now when you join the warband, it will save your personal, equipped gear properly and be moved into inventory.
Fixed Troop and Prisoner transfer when joining warband. Troops lost their xp and wounded were healed when transferred to your warband. Also you lost all your prisoners except heroes before.
Made compatible with the rival lord quest. When you left the warband since it would declare peace on that minor faction and free the prisoner.
Added death notifications for your warband leader. When my leader died of old age, the menu just disappeared and i was kinda confused what had just happened and why i wasn't in the warband anymore. I had to check the encyclopedia to realize my leader died of old age. :3
Fix for player death while serving. Now when the player dies, you will disband form the warband and the menu will close. v1.0.7
