Poster artwork by TheKite! Full resolution and a risqué alternate version: >>here<<

The Brotherhood Recon Uniform was designed as a lightweight all-purpose field uniform for Long Range Reconnaissance Patrols. Built from a combination of newly forged materials and old world salvage the Recon Uniform provides units with the ability to effectively blend in with local populations while providing ample protections against the many hazards of the wastes. Originally issued only to Reconnaissance units, its effectiveness quickly gained notoriety and it is now issued to more stationary units.

The Recon uniform comes in 6 optional parts including: Helmet/Gasmask/Sunshades/Overcoat/Gloves/Underarmor. Each part can be customized to a degree. See the 'unique mods' section below for a more detailed breakdown of how each part can be customized.

As an added bonus the Recon Enlistment Poster by TheKite can be earned and placed in the settlement system by doing a few basic BoS quests. In the settlement menu you can find the Poster in Decorations > Wall Decorations > Miscellaneous.

This mod was made with Vanilla male and CBBE female bodies in mind, however a there is a Vanilla female option in the files section. CBBE files are included in the main download for building your preset of choice.

While not required, I cannot suggest enough registrator2000's Crafting Highlight Fix. His F4se plugin will allow you to have color previews in the crafting menu.

None of the uniform parts act as 'over armor' meaning you can still wear normal armor like combat armor with even the overcoat (some chest armor may cause clipping). Both the underarmor and overcoat have ballistic weave slots, so you can wear both with weave and replace standard armor altogether.

-The Recon uniform is added to leveled lists for Brotherhood NPCs in the world with a script, no vanilla records are edited.
-Most rank and file Brotherhood scribes and soldiers have a chance to spawn with a variety of different parts.
-You can craft the full uniform at a chemlab (or Cybernetics Lab if you use CROSS_Cybernetics).
-Console search "Brotherhood Recon" to get the loadorder unique IDs.

Lore friendly Static Locations:
-Standard: After joining the BoS AND finishing one radiant quest for Haylen or Rhys, one full set of the Recon uniform can be found in the Cambridge PD (behind the desk, near the poster). For the sake of convenience, an armor bench has been added to the back room of the Cambridge PD so you can immediately customize the set.
-Officer:A second full set can be found on the Prydwen, in the Power Armor bay, near the lockers opposite of Ingram's corner, there are no requirements to make it appear. Spawns below the alternate poster on the wall, and on top of the lockers.
-Check the screenshot section for exact locations.

Poster Unlocks:
-Normal: Unlocked when you join the BoS after the Arcjet quest.
-Alternate: Unlocked after the quest "Tour of Duty" aboard the Prydwen (This is the Prydwen intro quest).
-If you've already done both quests they will already be unlocked.
-In the settlement menu you can find the Poster in Decorations > Wall Decorations > Miscellaneous.

This mod is feature complete from the Nexus download, it's mechanics are fully functional. However I have also made available a 'skin pack' through Gumroad for free at gumroad.com/niero

-Every part of the mod is completely free
-The Nexus download is fully functional with full resolution for the Default and Officer skins.
-The Cosmetic skins in the Nexus download have low-res placeholders to keep the file size reasonable.
-The Gumroad download is "pay what you want", with a minimum of 0.00 USD.
-Meaning that every part of this mod is still free. No charges are required anywhere, and if you do choose to pay it is still considered a donation.
-There is a second 4k texture download that ups the resolution of the two base skins.

Q: Is this paid mods?
A: No, every part of the mod is still free. The fully functional mod is free right here on the Nexus, just like mods have always been. Gumroad considers anything with a zero minimum price a donation, which means even if you choose to pay for the pack you are still just donating.

Q: What is in the download at Gumroad?
A: Texture files pre-packed into a BA2. Installing the 2k or 4k pack is as simple as overwriting the textures.ba2 from the Nexus download.

Q: Do I need a Gumroad account?
A: Nope, Gumroad remembers what you've downloaded based on your email. If you want to download something again later but don't remember the link you can make an account with the same email and it will show up at gumroad.com/library.

Q: Why do this if everything to do with the mod is free anyway?
A: Several reasons: This helps me build a following outside of the Nexus. This keeps the filesize down so people can get the mod quickly. Folks who don't care about the extra skins don't have to download an extra 400 MB, and Gumroad also offers an uncapped bandwidth limit for all users (Nexus caps at 1024 kb/s for non-premium accounts), which is ideal for large files like the 1.6 gigabyte 4k texture pack. This also streamlines donations for the folks that don't want to deal with paypal.

Q: Performance with 4k textures?
A: Outfits are good candidates for ultra high res textures because of the way they usually load while the game is paused. Even still, you may notice a performance hiccup while equipping the outfit. If you run into performance issues I would suggest keeping both the 2k and 4k downloads archived somewhere on your computer, and simply switching them in/out when you want to take screenshots.

Version notes:
-Fixed an issue with bone scaling on the legs

-Fixed an issue causing armored BoS units with the Recon uniform to spawn with standard Combat armor instead
of BoS marked Armor.
-Altered some bone data to reduce clipping on lower leg armor.

-Added new gasmask option
--Single(right) allows you put a single cannister on the rightside of themask.

-Added Goggle options to the Shades
--Shades can now be customized at an armor bench
--Goggle options (up/down) allow you to wear the goggles from the helmet without the actual helmet.
