------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"The people believed that the Hero of Time would again come to save them... But the hero did not appear...Faced by an onslaught of evil, the people could do nothing, but appeal to the gods. In their last hour, as doom drew near, they left their future in the hands of fate. What became of that kingdom...? None remain who know."

These are the Relics of Hyrule, the shards of an age long forgotten, the remnants of a civilization older than the Dwemer. So old that it was a myth during their time, and little evidence of the civilization remains. All that remain are artifacts: weapons, armor, magic. As you travel through Skyrim, you will stumble across pieces of a long-lost civilization, and will eventually discover what led to its demise.

Unlike similar mods, Relics of Hyrule does not turn Skyrim into a Zelda game, nor does it use the Skyrim
engine to remake any Zelda game.

Such an approach, I feel, would be a pale imitation of Zelda, and would greatly reduce the quality of the mod.

My philosophy is that a Skyrim mod should respect the milieu and story of the core game, rather than using it as a simple technological platform to remake
another. I chose to make Relics of Hyrule the way it is after seeing many other mods based on the Legend of Zelda ignore Skyrim's world. The mod also serves to re-imagine and frame the tragic beauty of Hyrule and Termina in the harsh landscapes of Skyrim and Solstheim. Relics of Hyrule adds items from Zelda to vanilla Skyrim locations, but I link them to the world as though they have always been in Skyrim, through lore and secrets. My goal is to make the mod lore-friendly, despite being inherently lore-breaking. It's designed such that you find the relics by playing Skyrim.. There are no quests that guide you, only rumors and forgotten myths (unless you read the Information Guide, of course). This is intentional, as an homage to how games used to be. The original Legend of Zelda did not hold your hand.

In short, Relics of Hyrule is a large mod that adds scores of new weapons, spells, enchantments, enemies, NPCs, dungeons, and experiences that are (hopefully) balanced with the base Skyrim game and integrated into its locations, while connecting Zelda lore to Elder Scrolls lore as a bit of fun that gained a little too much momentum. The mod has been actively expanding and evolving since August 2013 and will continue to grow in the future.

There are no new quests, new lands, or dialogue, and you will not see any main characters from the Zelda franchise in this mod.

And here's a guide to getting started!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HEY! LISTEN!
The Legend of Zelda is property of Nintendo. All I'm doing is paying homage to the fanastic universe they created.

Relics of Hyrule has a Discord Server! You can chat with other RoH users and with me!

Relics of Hyrule is the most endorsed  Zelda mod on the Skyrim Nexus!
Relics of Hyrule is the most downloaded Zelda mod on the Skyrim Nexus!
Whoa! Thank you all very much, and there is always much more to come!

Relics of Hyrule is compatible with AE.

SkyrimVR is not officially supported by Relics of Hyrule
I apologize for any inconvenience, but I cannot promise any fixes to bugs that are exclusive to SkyrimVR, as I have no way to test them.

With Regards to Relics of Hyrule - GAT Edition and Wabbajack Mod Installer
I am not involved with the Relics of Hyrule - Gat Edition Wabbajack project and cannot offer any support or troubleshooting.
In fact, I didn't even know that Wabbajack or the mod pack existed until I saw someone streaming it.

With regards to consoles
Relics of Hyrule will not be on consolesbecause if it was ported, it would die, one way or another. End of story. I will also not be giving permission for others to port it to any console.

With regards to Legacy of the Dragonborn
I am not adding support for Legacy of the Dragonborn, but in version 6.6 I made my own museum that is separate from LotD. Please don't expect it to be anything like LotD.
A patch does exist on the Legacy of the Dragonborn patch page that reduces conflicts, such as dig sites placed over RoH items, but it does not add a museum space.
I will not be answering questions about Legacy of the Dragonborn.

With regards to The Elder Scrolls VI
I am aware that is will eventually exist. I will not be answering questions about it.

With regards to Breath of the Wild and its sequel, Age of Calamity and Cadence of Hyrule,
Yes, I will be adding content inspired by these games. Version 6.7 will be dedicated almost entirely to Breath of the Wild.

Please submit images!
But make sure there is no UI and that the screenshot only depicts Relics of Hyrule features. Texture mods are fine, but I don't want people to think an item from another mod is in Relics of Hyrule.

Relics of Hyrule is exclusive to the Nexus. Posting this mod to other websites is against my wishes and without my consent.
I will not be positing it to Bethesda.net.

The Relics of Hyrule community has made a set of patches for various mods.
I do not make patches, so please to not request any from me.

The mod has a wiki!
It's not finished by no stretch of the imagination, and I'll be adding to it
constantly. The Master Sword page is a model for the rest of wiki. If
you want to contribute, by all means do! I will be monitoring the wiki
for consistency and accuracy, since its purpose is reference.

Also, if you want to make a request, by all means do, but please check the Item List before you make a request.
Here's a list of items in the mod.
I don't want you to waste your time asking for something you already have.

And HUGE thanks to ZeldaInformer, who wrote this amazing review of the mod:
Click this link to read it. It's...it's so nice.
Also to ZeldaDungeon.net for reporting on Legendary Edition version 5.23:
In this post that you can read by clicking these words.

INSTALLATION
Here's a video on installation and getting started!

Basically, simply download the Main File. If you use NMM or another mod manager, please download manually and install using NMM. Downloading and installing all at once can cause issues with mods as large as Relics of Hyrule.

Optional: Install Relationship Dialogue Overhaul to give Relics of Hyrule Followers more to say.

Skyrim VR Users! Relics of Hyrule is compatible with Skyrim VR, but I recommend installing manually.

If you have XPMSSE installed and are experiencing crashes, try reinstalling Relics of Hyrule to "overwrite" it.
Nothing will change, but users have reported fewer crashes after this approach.

UPDATING
You shouldn't have to start a new save if you're updating the mod.

Simply download the newest version of the main file.

I cannot help with NMM issues.
I don't use NMM, I don't like NMM, and don't know how it works. All I know is that NMM tends to have trouble with large mods. Try to download it manually and install with NMM, rather than doing both at once. My mod is built so those who prefer manual installation can install it easily, and if NMM has a problem with that, I'm sorry, but I'm not going to accommodate its tawdry quirks.
I repeat, I am not accommodating NMM and cannot help with issues related to it.

UNINSTALLING :(

Relics of Hyrule follows standard uninstallation procedures.

1. Unequip all Relics of Hyrule items and go somewhere unaffected by the mod, like a player home, or the Riverwood Trader.
2. If desired, disable active magic effects from things like Triforce Pieces.
3. Wait 24 in-game hours (with the wait function) to allow all scripts to finish their duties.
4. Disable the mod in your load order.
5. If desired, remove the folders containing meshes and textures. Most are in /weapons/hylian or /armor/hylian. A full directory is available in the mod's main file.

REVIEWS

COMPATIBILITIES
The community has made a set of patches to help people work with mod conflicts.
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/31935

Yes, the mod is compatible with AE. If any conflicts arise with Creation Club content, let me know.

If you are using NMM or Vortex, after installing the Main File, DO NOT Upgrade to a new version of the mod if the manager prompts you. This will uninstall the core and leave you without textures and meshes! Instead, install the update normally or better yet, wait for the main file to update.

NMM and Vortex are not fully supported and often struggle with large mods like Relics of Hyrule. More often than not, issues with the mod are caused by NMM or Vortex installing the mod improperly.

Invasion of Skyrim by evittalex has a Relics of Hyrule patch!

Ecotone Dual Sheath is fully compatible with Relics of Hyrule, all you need to do is follow the steps on the Ecotone Dual Sheath mod page to make an xEdit update to the Ecotone Dual Sheath patch and ensure any custom skeletons are properly installed.

Perk mods should be compatible because Relics of Hyrule does not rely on perks for crafting. Instead, the recipes rely on your skill and the presence of certain items in your inventory.

Hair mods like ApachiiSkyHair are not supported. The hats in Relics of Hyrule are incompatible with modded hairstyles, and I will not be adjusting them. I cannot, in fact. Don't tell me about the hats. I know. I've known for years.
Here is a tutorial by th3rm0pyl43 if you want to adjust hairs yourself.

Overhauls like Perkus Maximus are not officially supported.
VR is not fully supported.

Frostfall is compatible, but not fully supported. Arrow Shrines in RoH unintentionally serve as sources of heat.

Legacy of the Dragonborn
conflicts somewhat with Relics of Hyrule, making some items inaccessible. However, there is a patch available on the Legacy of the Dragonborn SSE mod page.

Some mods may conflict with the entrance to a dungeon added by Relics of Hyrule called Morwitijaal, but there's nothing to do about it. Try entering through Mad God Passage or the side entrance for the dungeon.

People of Skyrim 2 places structures that intersect with Relics of Hyrule structures.

Great City of Rorikstead places a building on the Secret Grotto trapdoor.
Great City of Winterhold does a similar thing with a list and a Gold Skulltula Token.
In general, mods that heavily modify Riverwood, Rorikstead and Winterhold (like the Great Cities series) may make a few items inaccessible.

Insects Begone will cause a crash when used with Relics of Hyrule. Gold Skulltulas will crash Skyrim when Insects Begone tries to convert them.
Use a different spider replacer mod and the the optional Skulltula Replacer for my mod to prevent this crash.

Relics of Hyrule Goddess Spring Addon is not only incompatible with Relics of Hyrule, it will actually make your game worse, as it modifies vanilla Skyrim NPCs.

I will not adjust my mod to accommodate other mods. I were to adjust Relics of Hyrule for another mod, then some other mod conflict will come along in the future. I also do not make addons or patches for any other mods for any reason.

Conflicts are inevitable, and I refuse to change my mod because of another.

PERMISSIONS
If you want to use parts of my mod in your mod, you must contact me and explain the specific assets you want to use.
I worked very hard on this mod, and am not willing to provide permission for some items.
DO NOT redistribute RelicsofHyruleDragonborn.esp in ANY WAY. This is the ONLY place to get that file.

Some items were made by others and I cannot give permission for them, and some were made specifically for Relics of Hyrule and cannot be distributed.

If your mod uses Relics of Hyrule assets, you must not charge money for it.
You would then be earning money from my work, and since Relics of Hyrule is based on a Nintendo property, you could get into serious trouble.
