About this mod

When you first emerge from the vault - into the big bad world - why would you leave the vault as a shelter? Yes, you can argue that there is no food there, but there is weatherproof shelter and clean water - and you can get food when you need it, right? At least, that was my thought. But you wouldn't want to leave the vault unprotected.

The Conquest Vault 111 Hilltop Fort
When you first emerge from the vault - into the big bad world - why would you leave the vault as a shelter? Yes, you can argue that there is no food there, but there is weatherproof shelter and clean water - and you can get food when you need it, right? At least, that was my thought. But you wouldn't want to leave the vault unprotected. You might come up from the vault only to find a band of raiders pointing hurtful things in your general direction.

So you wouldn't want to just leave it as it is. I was thinking of a lore-friendly way of fortifying the vault top-side. My build here is mostly sandbagging and wood builds with the one concrete corner building. It isn't a trading post, per se, but I put a store under the billboard and a place for visitors to stay in the rooms built on the billboard platform. There is a clinic here and a greenhouse, but not a LOT of housing for settlers. This is a fortified position for the entrance with some crop farming and a far-territory outpost.

I cleaned out a lot of the hilltop with that military mindset - that you clear a perimeter for a clear field of fire.

What you need to do:
Scrap out the nearly every bit around the vault. I left the vault, the vault pod (obviously), the fork lift, the billboard sign and the capsule pod(s)*. I left a lot of the rocks but got rid of a lot of the trees. There was just one ground plateau (by the back gate area) I got rid of but it don't think it will effect much if you leave it in. I took a few screen shots of the cleaned up area prior to import if you need to reference that. First I scrap everything out that you normally can with the regular (Conquest) workbench, then I go through again with this Scrap mod - but you have to be very careful with this one... it will erase the ground, the vault, the hillside... EVERYTHING. Save often. Take your time and go slow. Seriously.

*NOTE: If you use the Vault 111 Settlement mod, you would have to scrap out the tombstones on the upside. The Vault 111 Military Storage mod gives you the other capsule pod, also.

NOTE ABOUT THE CONQUEST WORKBENCH PLACEMENT: As for the Conquest build area - I put the workbench right on the tongs of the forklift (there is a picture). At first, I had a hard time placing the camping duffle bag (which you have to do before you can place the workbench), but I walked it down the hill until it turned green then walked it back up - it stayed green until I could get it close to the forklift again. I called this Conquest settlement the Lyon Outpost, but I think you can name it whatever you want. You can move the workbench after the import of the settlement and after the import "settles".
