The Very Latest in Tactical Defensive Measures ...

Special Thanks to Miss Grim whose suggestion it was to provide this mod which originated as a special feature for my Sparky companion.

WARNING: This mod requires access to Vault 111. There may or may not be a conflict with a particular "alternate start" mod depending on whether that mod allows or prevents entry.

If you use Nexus Mod Manager (NMM) to install mods and patches, go get the newest version found Here.

Can you make it so it doesnt have a duration at all an we can just turn it on an off. I mean pretty useless if only 30 seconds especially if your playing on the harder level settings

That would make it overpowered.  Its intent is for it to be used only in tough moments in fights, or triggered to escape when at low health.  Not as constant or semi-constant shielding.  No plans to change that.

Eh then no TY then they have other mods like this that are permanent shields. an wouldnt be OP if you set a an amount of damage it takes before it shuts down then recharges. An everyone thinks OP items are bad but i;m one who enjoys being OP so what your saying isnt a down side to me LOL

I edited my shield boy ,it lasts like 15 mins. I never use it. The settlers all use them, any danger and shields all over. I shot a guy point black with a rifle from halo with about 10 times more damage and fires like 150 rps and the shield boy held up. It blows death claws to pieces in one burst, or anything else for that matter.  Anyhow FO4 editor and you can stretch the time. Easy enough to find and change.

I think it'd be cool if it could be tied to AP instead of having a time limit we can't manage.

That would help balance it. Perhaps we could upgrade the shield to reduce the AP drain, perhaps it drains more AP blocking larger projectiles or heavier fire.

I actually have an idea for this, and anyone can make it, just please @ me if you're going to make the idea:
But my mod idea is 3 types of shield you can build in settlements:

1: Small Shield - Guard Posts - A shield that is a small bubble shield, filters out small arms fire from hostiles. Instead of health it has 4,500 points of charge. It recharges quickly, but cannot stand up to abuse, while the generator never can be destroyed it can be temporarily disabled for 10 seconds.

2: Advanced Shield - A bubble shield of medium size, it protects a majority of a settlement. It is a compact tower that has a bubble size of outpost zinmoja, and has 35,000 charge. When it finally is disabled from too much focus fire, the tower retracts and is disabled for longer.

3: Coalition ACU experimental shield - An shield bubble the size of all of sanctuary when built. This shield has 1 million charge points. The backbone of shield bubble tech. When disabled, the spinning 4 blocky panels at the top stop spinning, it takes a full minute to recharge to full if the shield suffers too much abuse or suffers from not enough power.

Shield appearances can come in: red hexagonal, blue hexagonal, or Aparoid-color (Dynamic forms of purple and blue) Hexagonal.

Due to an update by bethesda, who honestly don't care about nexus mods, only their bethesda approved mods; you'd have to somehow make it without F4SE, or wait for F4SE to update past 2 patches to the content update bethesda pushed out.

NOTE: Players can make changes to mods for their own private use (this is a Nexusmods rule), but are not allowed to upload them anywhere for other people to use unless they have the author's permission.

There is a Halo mod with deployable shields, they last until they are destroyed, and it takes a while. They are stationary.

    @Athelbras:
Great mod, thanks, this is a nifty & lifesaving solution for hard mode gameplay

Request: can you collaborate with PJMail to make another similar mod that can provide this kind of temporary shield bubble for the Flyable Personal Vertibird please? It would be very useful option for those rare moments when the vertibird is taking off or landing, and comes under unexpected heavy fire, and has to make a quick getaway before it's downed. The pilot then presses a button to emit this EMP shield to protect the vertibird, while the player jumps onto the gatling gun to provide covering fire as the pilot veers away from the tense scene.

In the Verti bird mod, you can make it invulnerable and that no one on board gets hurt, he covers all that already. No fuel, no damage, no npc damage.

Pretty nice mod. I see most people just moaning about the duration. If you don't like it, figure out how to change it yourself. It would not make sense if it was permanent. What would be the point in it? Just open the console and type "tgm" if you never want to take damage. If you want that level of protection, why even play the game?

The quest to get it was quite fun, not too much messing about and made it feel a bit more worthwhile once you have it. The shield effect itself looks really cool too. You can set it to a hotkey but once used it vanishes, it leaves your inventory and is replaced by the one that shows a cooldown, once the cooldown is up the normal item returns to your inventory and is then back in your favorites automatically which is good. It would be a pain only being able to activate it from the inventory screen.

It does use two locations edited by Sim Settlements 2, the one in Concord is quite heavily altered by that mod, neither location cause any issues with this shield mod though :-)

I like this mod and it seems entirely appropriate for use, considering I also use CROSS Cybernetics & Elysium AK Assault Rifle mods; Elysium AK from the Matt  Damon film 'Elysium' and the CROSS Cybernetics (that ive used for years) which provides a similar kind of Exo suit that Damon wore.

His nemesis in the movie Agent Kruger did actually use a similar type of shield to ward off a stream of fire that this mod provides.

*However I would like to change the settings in the mod as I think 30s is a bit too short. Im fairly familiar with FO4Edit & competent using it for things like changing body slots and such but how would i go about just changing the duration? I did load the mod up in FO4Edit but didnt know what i was doing or where to look, any help would be appreciated on how to change something which seems as simple as tweaking the time to continue my modding learning curve.

This thing is really fun to use. I have it hotkeyed for quick use. If I wander into a firefight I can't handle, this is my emergency parachute. I activate this bad boy, pop a stimpack, and make for the hills. Kudos on the mod!

I agree, this mod is useful for the "Fight for your life" moment during an intense firefight when the player is overwhelmed...

I am interested to see if this shield mod would work in conjunction with below mod -- when player is under heavy fire, then player can pop out a shield bubble as protection while jabbing a stimpak or two, but if player was too late to equip the shield bubble and is bleeding out dying, then the followers rush in to revive the player.
      Follower Revive System

Below mod is perfect for the "make for the hills" escape "plan B" (tactical strategic retreat, LOL):
      Grappling Hook

But when you have to choose "flight" instead of "fight", why not do both? Spew vengeance at those that gave you mortal fright!

You should try it definitely. Just like this shield mod that can be used for offensive (equip shield, wade into a mob and take them out at close range before the shield winks out) or defensive (second wind: fight for your life), the grappling hook can be used for offense or defense.

That grappling hook works wonders for vertical agility in this game. Very useful for tactical offensive and evasive maneuvers before or during combat (e.g., get onto rooftop of a building to snipe down at enemies, or escape to the rooftops when cornered in the street). The grappling hook even works with Power Armor equipped!

This would make a great addition to the torso's of Power Armor.
Given that PA has the electrcials built in to feed the power for somethign like this

When I go to Concord after I got the item, the quest marker is gone and I can't find anything to progress the quest. Will that because of another mod I have that changed the interior of the shop that writes "HARDWARE" right outside of the museum?

Never mind, it did not conflict and I found it. It's just kind of hard to find and I am stupid.
