you can craft a (stealthboy like) personal energy shield device in the chem workbench under utility that will prevent ballistic, energy and radiation damage for 2 minutes. (added a shorter more balanced version) comes in two colours, and now you can craft a Shield Ring for companions.

Under the red rocket truck stop there is a magazine that will teach you how to build the Shieldboy (science 2 required too), its like a stealthboy device that will add a forcefield that will keep you ALMOST safe from ballistic, energy and radiation damage for 2 minutes, sometimes will reflect the bullets back to the attackers like the ricochet perk. (very little damage is received, also, melee and enviromental like fire, frost and lightning can pass the protection of the shield, because, those are like in the nature and stuff... and low velocity like melee... cmon thats in like every sci fi movie, can pass the shield)
it uses vanilla assets and i think its balanced, but i play only in survival so... test it, if you like it, use it, endorse, or not.... if not, try the other ones.
if you want to use it in a mod, transform it, translate it, ask first.
(more "balanced" version added, 50 sec duration, weights more, cost more to make, also added blue visuals with no flames, you can craft an advanced version, that is the blue one)
ok, now includes a craftable shield ring [same requisites, the magazine and perks and some materials==>chemblab], to give to companions, the field activates when they enter combat (you can use it too but that would make power armor obsolete) i did this because there are some companions (outcasts and remnants) that you can't command into power armor and the shieldboy is single use. now the mod IS finished!
PD: i removed the ricochet effect of the rings in companions because it cluttered the screen with the vault-boy animation when you use one ring or the shieldboy and companions too, also, the shield effect sometimes doesn't apply to companions, nothing i can do about it, that is a fallout thing, just unequip and equip the ring to the companion after loading a save or if the shield effect is missing.
