  • Wizard Items

Overall Notes - With wizard I took a more unique approach to designing the class. Rather than designing spell casting weapons for each wizard subclass, I instead designed scrolls that could then be scribed by the wizard sort of like there exists scrolls near the end of the game from such as Dethrone or Artistry of War. This felt more right than weaponry for the wizard since their entire schtick really feels like learning the art of magic and having a large arsenal of spells to pull from. Unlike the scrolls obtained near the end of the game, these spells require one charge of Arcane Recovery to cast. This is to make it firmly part of the Wizard identity to cast these spells rather than it being just something you get for taking 1 level in Wizard.

  • Warlock Items

Overall Notes - This subclass I tried to angle a lot of the features around being thematic to the patron bestowing power to the warlock. Generally I will try to get it to fit with the play style of the warlock though. Warlocks generally tend to be offensive casters that have an option to debilitate much like sorcerers. Their features do take a slightly more martial bend to them though.

Celestial (Heavenly Set) - This is a bit of an exception to the overarching, more selfish nature of warlocks. Celestial warlocks do provide some support and healing as one would expect of a creature from the higher plane, but they also excel at fighting against the forces of evil, slaying their targets with light and holy fire.

Fiend (Infernal Set) - To start off, I designed two sets ...

  • Sorcerer Items

Overall Notes - Unsurprisingly, the features surrounding this class will focus largely on spell casting and augmenting the sorcerer's specialties. This usually means dealing damage but is not limited to that and can include things like healing or debilitating foes if the subclass puts a focus on that.

Divine Soul (Seraphim Set) - This set breaks away from the tendencies of sorcerer and focuses on things that you will often see be associated with the iconic cleric. This means the item set will generally focus on buffing allies, healing targets and doing larger damage with damage typically associated with clerics (such as radiant and necrotic).

Draconic (Wyrm Set) - The elemental damage set, this set will largely focus on augmenting the sorcerer's capabilities at dea...

  • Rogue Items

Overall Notes - Famously a rather underrated class due to not scaling well with the other martials and not providing a lot after level 3. Apart from thief's fast hands and assassin's niche in surprise encounters, rogue does not really have much to make it stand out. I tried to build in a feature to help rogues stand out on their gloves called Uncanny Agility that would provide an additional bonus action to any characters with Uncanny Dodge (which rogues get at level 5) but that does not have Fast Hands. The idea behind this is to incentivize other non-thief rogue sub-classes while not spiralling too much out of control since the features is only available on gloves. Generally this class will fair well at two-weapon fighting due to all the bonus actions it gets.

  • Ranger Items

Overall Notes - With ranger I largely built the class towards being good in situations that are either more specific or towards being good at things that are not necessarily straight up damage. I also did angle the sets a little more towards being good with ranged combat over melee combat since melee is a lot more heavily supported in this mod.

Beast Master (Forest Stalker Set) - Rather than designing a set that explicitly improve animal companions, I instead tried to design a set that would make the ranger better at working with their companion. The ranger will generally gain a benefit from conditions inflicted upon a foe that would typically be inflicted by an animal companion. These benefits are more control-oriented and so will typically try to debilitate your foe. This set...

  • Paladin Items

Overall Notes - Paladin does not really have a pervasive element to the features in their items because the subclasses do not really share a unique role in the context of a party. All the paladin subclasses are a similar power level in the vanilla game and so I did not really attempt to give any subclass more than its fair share like I tried to do with valor bard.

Ancients (Ancient Sentinel Set) - This set is the one Paladin set focused around healing and supporting the paladin's allies through buffs. Most of the features of this item set focuses around on providing some benefit to the paladin's allies. There is also a pervasive flavor of a warden type character protecting life and nature through light.

Conquest (Dominator Set) - One of the only "evil" paladin oaths...

  • Monk Items

Overall Notes - For monk I generally did not include a weapon set because the class will typically want to go unarmed. If in the future I feel like a subclass will feel better with a weapon set though I will include it. I also went a slightly unorthodox way with Way of the Four Elements because I did not want to try and cram four elements worth of features into one item set. I am not entirely sure if all the elements are balanced with one another though (Earth is probably the most powerful one but I'll keep an eye out for it).

Four Elements - As noted, the four elements are split into their respective elements because I did not want to try and pour too many ideas into one set. Air (Vortex Set) focuses on manoeuvrability and debilitating foes with Off Balance. Earth (Terran Set)...

  • Fighter Items

Overall Notes - With fighter, certain subclasses were harder to get a tangible thematic set for than others (looking at you champion). Generally the goal with these sets is to be very good at a particular combat skill that the subclass might specialize in.

Arcane Archer (Corellon's Set) - With this subclass I kind of imagined an archer that really wants to make use of magic in their kit. As a result of this I kind of tried to angle the set around dealing damage with a ranged weapon and augmenting one's intelligence to augment one's spellcasting ability modifier. I know arcane archer does not technically get spells so improving Intelligence isn't of exceptional use but it felt fitting to the set even if it might not be mechanically powerful for the subclass itself.

  • Druid Items

Overall Notes - This was probably the hardest sets of items to design because to me druid's identity is very hard to grasp. Druid does tend to have a lot of spells and features based around area denial, shapeshifting and summoning, but these were harder things for me to design items around.

Land (Verdant Set) - Land Druid is a very versatile caster that has a lot of options available to it. Ultimately I decided to go with a theme that centered around debilitating foes through using damage available through nature, i.e. Slashing and Piercing damage. As a result, a lot of the items will attempt to debilitate the foe through various natural and iconic druid conditions such as Bleeding, Poisoned, Entangled and even Paralysis. The legendary item, Verdance, tries to emulate Markohes...

  • Cleric Items

Overall Notes - Cleric has a lot of archetypes and so I am probably going to be spending a lot of time with this class in the future. Fortunately the domains provide a lot of flavor and directions for these archetypes. Generally cleric will not be about dealing damage unless it is through spell casting. Some subclasses will focus on different elements such as providing support, healing allies or being tanky.

Forge (Artisan Set) - This set generally has two themes going for it. Being as tanky as possible (the set designed with the most latent AC in the mod) and working with the Heat mechanic as much as possible. Unlike the regular gameplay of Heat which is to build up the turns of heat and then unleash it to do big fire damage, Forge Clerics instead want to build up heat to go i...

  • Bard Items

Overall Notes - Bard is a very versatile class so designing items for this class could prove challenging at times as the class could do so much. Ultimately I tried to lean into what each subclass was trying to excel at and if I was not sure I tried to instead lean into something I either had not done or that felt generally fitting to the class's name or description.

Eloquence (Aristocrat Set) - This was one of the more difficult sets for me to design. In the end I went with a set that plays songs to buff the entire party. These songs cost a bardic performance charge to cast and will scale with your Charisma. There were some troubles with a couple features such as Inspire Defense where I could not provide a scaling Armour Class bonus based on the Charisma bonus so I instead crea...

  • Barbarian Items

Overall Notes - Barbarian is one of my favourite classes thematically so this set of items was a little bit easier to come up with (in addition to Barbarian in general being a rather simplistic class). With this class my philosophy was more squarely on raw damage or tankiness. This was one of three classes I felt it was a little too easy to multiclass out of (along with Rogue and Wizard), so I did include a trait on a lot of items that I hoped to encourage sticking to Barbarian called Ferocity. This is an item that would normally increase critical threat range by 1 unless you have Brutal Critical (a level 9 feature), in which case it will increase critical threat range by 2.

Beast (Predator Set) - This set is all about the more predator-like aspects of a beast. The focus of th...
