The main purpose of this mod is to help Riverwood feel more believable as a nordic village, without overhauling the town completely or altering its vanilla identity. Plenty of other mods already completely overhaul Riverwood and other settlements, but few touch on the town's fortifications. What I wanted to do here is this:
-
2). Rebuild Riverwood's fortifications based on it's unique geography and real-world examples, and
3). Do all of this in a way that doesn't interfere with anything else, including most mods, and without going against the vanilla Skyrim aesthetic.
Somewhat inspired by movie sets like this:

South Side (to Falkreath) - Guard Tower & Stockade Walls
- Guarding Riverwood's most vulnerable road, there looms a tower bristling with sharpened poles and manned by Whiterun's finest. Built long ago, a formidable wall appends this post from the river to the mountainside, preventing roundabout entry be they merchant from Falkreath or mercenaries from local bandit camps.
North Side (to Whiterun) - Guard Tower Bridge Overlook
- A lone tower proudly stands watch over Riverwood's main road, a ready position for any guard to mount a surprisingly effective defense, should any enemy be foolish enough to cross this bridge.
East Side (to Helgen) - Stockade Walls
- Bolstering the back of the village, a cold unmanned wall stretches from cliff to cliff, leaving open only the mountain pass to the Imperial fortress of Helgen.
Vanilla Guards - Stand Guard
- After Irilleth sends a squad of guards to Riverwood, they will man the new fortifications as a part of their partols.
(Horse guards not included ;)

Other Notes For Modders:
1). This plugin adds to the vanilla navmesh and edits it in some areas to improve pathing where neccessary. I'd advise against editing the navmesh I added, unless absolutely nesseccary, especially around the stairs. NPCs absolutely hate stairs.
2). If you know how to make the new structures as unified meshes (as opposed to individual objects assembled to look like a tower). Hmu, or publish your own LITE plugin replacer for this mod. It would help with optimization for those that really need it.
3). This is my first ever attempt at even editing 3D meshes. So if you know what you're doing, be sure you double check my work before using it in your own project.
