"Wahh you said this is balanced but level 20 is busted." Here's some pain, pick your poison:
160 supplies and 4x to 3x HP has been a real pain train so far.
Spells:
- Valkrana's Spellbook Highly recommend, one of my favorite mods. Lots of Necrotic damage, pairs very well with this one.
- Spells Enhanced - Speak with Dead (I recommend C3 version). Allows you to speak with wrecked corpses if you don't want to miss dialogues, this or rebalance makes it a ritual spell.
- Rebalance series Buffs weak spells and nerfs OP ones. Makes Contagion less bad. Makes concentration a better mechanic.
- PF2e Spells WIP so some spells don't work correctly, but it has a lot of interesting spell options. Some are OP and some aren't, just pick what you like.
- Valkrana's Skeleton Emporium Fun expansion to Animate Dead.
- Mass Unsummon Very useful for Necromancy.
- Valkrana's Skeleton Crew Fun little feat. Sometimes you get a death knight, sometimes you get a useless little jester who dances.
- Undeath Feat I use this to make Astarion actually undead. You have to play around it a bit but it makes for some unique gameplay. Not reset on death like Impart Undeath is.
- Animate Dead Plus Plus Necromancy overhaul.
- Command Undead Because Control Undead is cool and fun. Steal Cazador's skeleton wizard. Yoink a death knight from the tribunal.
- Summon Squire the Undead Hound Because he's a good boy.
Gear:
- The Unholy Reaver Ir'revrykal Literally the Blackguard sword from BG2 but it doesn't suck. Use the general version for something less OP. The psychic version is also gorgeous.
- Scourgelord- Improved Death Knight Equipment - Overhaul to the Blackguard armor set in act 3. Makes it actually worth the hassle to get it (and the loss of the Bhaalist armor).
- Ketheric's Reaper Armour Comes in different tiers for Act1-3, thematically fitting and useful for a Necrotic build.
- Deathsong Set Upgradable set, thematically fitting.
- Sarevok Set
- Retaliation of the Absolute Cool sword with a Necrotic version, but it is meant for Minthara.
- Unholy Berserk Necrotic axe from the same author.
- Paladin and Cleric Gear
- Premium Black Dye For that black knight aesthetic
- Vanta Black Dye
- Vampire Ascendant The cape from the optional equipment mod is very useful for Shadoweaver.
Races:
- Ghastly Ghouls - Playable Undead Race Perfect for a Death Knight.
Classes:
- Vanguard Shadow Adept pairs very well with Shadoweaver. Throw down ALL the darkness.
- Dread Overlord One of my favorite Warlocks. I'm told it multiclasses well with Blackguard.
- Dark Hunger Pact Another very cool Warlock.
- Graviturgy Wizard Not relevant but definitely my favorite wizard.
- Mystic Also not relevant but one of the most well done classes on the Nexus, IMHO. Very versatile and now even has some Necrotic options. Endless build potential and fits basically any playstyle.
- Death Soul Heavy on Necrotic damage. Metamagic Reaping Spell is very cool (and included in my Metamagic patch here). This + Spores Druid and Staff of Cherished Necromancy is goated.
- Warlock - The Undead Another cool Warlock.
- Undead Soul Necromancy flavored Sorcerer.
- Darkness Domain Cleric Shameless plug of my own mod but it synergizes very well with Shadoweaver.
- Shadow Sorcery Another shameless plug of my own mod. Shadow
WizardSorcerer Money Gang rise up. - The First Vampire Warlock Subclass Another great class from havsglimt. Pairs well with Blood Knight.
Others:
- Mod Organizer 2 Plugin - Cleannnn game directory baby. Very underrated. It's a bit of setup and you still need to sort your load order with BG3MM, but you don't have to install anything to your game directory, including loose files.
- Database Cleaner Massively improves Act 3 load times. Brought mine down from 3 minutes to 30 seconds.
- Respec Spell Respec your Blackguard with one simple trick. Just use this. It's a very simple spell that consistently works after patches. You can also use Appearance Edit Enhanced, but that's a complex mod with some issues and it sometimes breaks for a while after patches.
- Reclaim or Break Your Oath Big QOL for Oathbreaking. This can allow you to chat with the Oathbreaker Knight, who has some interesting dialogues for Durge in Act 3. Break your oath and return to camp. He may or may not stick around your camp after respeccing, no promises, but you can definitely talk to him and get the dialogues as a Blackguard.
