THE FIRST VAMPIRE HAS COME TO BALDUR'S GATE 3!

My first Warlock subclass mod! And for a reason, since it's honestly one of my least favorite 5e classes. Not that many Warlock subclasses have spoken to me, but I really took a fancy to the The First Vampire patron from Ghostfire Gaming's Grim Hollow setting. I might also have been very inspired by the full release of V Rising.

This makes my second Grim Hollow subclass for BG3, together with Inquisition Domain. I do have future plans to hopefully implement some more, so stay tuned!

CLASS FEATURES

EXPANDED SPELL LIST

1st-level: False Life, Bane
2nd-level: Web, Blindness
3rd-level: Bestow Curse, Gaseous Form
4th-level: Dominate Beast, Greater Invisibility
5th-level: Dominate Person, Seeming

At 1st level, as a predator of the night you have been blessed with enhanced vision in darkness. You have Darkvision out to a range of 18m. If you already have Darkvision, increase the range by 18m.
NOTES
Works RAW. If you already have regular Darkvision, its range increases to 30m. If you have Superior Darkvision, its range increases to 42m.

Starting at 1st level, you gain an innate power to drain life from the living. When you use the Attack action or cast a spell, you can use a Bonus Action on the same turn to make a melee spell attack against a creature within 1.5m of you. Your attack deals Necrotic damage equal to 1d6 + your Charisma modifier on a hit.

When you hit a creature with this feature, you can expend a Warlock spell slot to deal an extra 1d8 Necrotic damage to the target, plus another 1d8 per level of the spell slot. When you expend a spell slot to enhance the attack in this way, you regain hit points equal to the total damage dealt.
NOTES
Drain Life will be unlocked as a temporary spell at the far right of your hotbar after you've attacked or cast a spell on someone and is only there until the end of your current turn, so it'll disappear pretty quickly outside of turn-based mode. You unlock both the base version, which deals 1d6 + your Charisma modifier Necrotic damage without a spell slot cost, as well as a spell slot version based on your unlocked Warlock spell slot level, which deals increased damage and heals you for the total damage you deal.

At 6th level, you can use your Action to cast Polymorph on yourself, transforming into a Bat or a Wolf. While you are in either of these forms, you retain your Intelligence, Wisdom and Charisma scores.

You can use this feature a number of times equal to your Charisma modifier, regaining all spent uses upon completion of a Long Rest.
NOTES
Acts more like a Wild Shape than Polymorph, since you can only cast it on yourself and since it retains your mental ability scores, although it still requires Concentration. Worth noting is that it only costs an Action to transform (as well as the custom resource based on your Charisma modifier), so no spell slots are needed.

Neither the Wolf nor the Bat has absolutely amazing stats, but as a Wolf you might be a bit more proficient in stealth and melee, and can knock enemies Prone with its Bite attack, and as a Bat you'll fit in small spaces due to your Tiny size, and you have the ability to fly. I also gave it the Infected Bite attack that already existed in the game files, to make it slightly more useful. Mind you, the Bat only has 2 Strength, so it might make you encumbered if you're carrying lots of stuff!

Starting at 10th level, when you reduce a creature to 0 hit points with your Life Drain feature, you can use your reaction to consume the last of their fleeting mortality. When you do, you regain one of your expended pact spell slots. Once you use this feature, you can't use it again until you finish a Long Rest.
NOTES
Works RAW. Pretty simple and to the point—triggers an interrupt when you kill someone with Life Drain, which automatically casts a spell that gives you back one of your expended spell slots.

At 14th level, your vampire patron grants you a taste of true immortality. You no longer age, and you gain Resistance to Necrotic damage.

Additionally, once per Long Rest, you can use a Bonus Action to gain the following effects for one minute:

•  You regain 1d6 hit points at the start of your turn if you have at least 1 hit point and aren't in direct sunlight or running water. If you take Radiant damage, this trait doesn't function at the start of your next turn.

• When you use your Drain Life feature, you can use it as if you were expending a 1st-level spell slot.
NOTES
*Requires a mod that allows levelling past level 12.*
The aging thing is obviously not a thing in the game since your characters won't age, but everything else is RAW. As for Life Drain, it simply allows you to cast a 1st-level Life Drain without consuming a spell slot, while dealing the corresponding bonus damage and healing you for damage dealt.

POTENTIAL ISSUES/DISCLAIMERS

•   Some changes have been made to the expanded spell list, which is supposed to include the spells Alter Self, Levitate and Conjure Animals (bats, rats, or wolves only). I exchanged them for Web, Blindness and Bestow Curse respectively. Being able to Conjure thematic Animals would indeed be neat, but since you can realistically summon a virtual horde of each summoned creature due to their low Challenge Ratings, it'd just bloat up the game so I opted out of it.
