ALOT is a one-step download to upgrade Mass Effect 2's graphics to today's standards. Around 1200 high resolution (2K, 4K) textures have been carefully chosen from the works of other mod authors or crafted by myself. The goal is to achieve the best look possible, while remaining very close to the vanilla (unmodded) style. Comparison screenshots available here.
Among many others, this project includes HR textures for : squad mates, environments, cerberus, geth, quarians, reapers, the galaxy map, NPCs, weapons, armors, et cætera.

If you want the technical detail :

0. Install content mods before ALOT (eg DLC mods, No MiniGames mod, Controller mod, etc).
1. Download the Installer from the downloads section, here on Nexus.
2. Follow the overly detailed installation tutorial available here. ALOT is now installed.
3. Install any other texture mods you want, after ALOT, using the Installer.
To install TPF, DDS, MOD mods, simply run the Installer, drag & drop them on it, and click install. Make sure the user files box
is checked.

To uninstall, use the Installer's backup & restore functionality (see guide above). By restoring an unmodded (vanilla) backup, you can revert your game to its initial state. If you don't have a backup, the only way to vanilla your game is to remove the game's folder and redownload it through Origin.

If you have any issues or questions, first read the FAQ (see below) to see if it is already answered there. If it isn't, come over on Discord and discuss it with us. You can also join us there to talk about ALOT, modding, or whatever you want :).

Further Graphical Improvements

Check out ALOT for ME1, ALOT for ME3 !

ME2 INI Settings.
Optimal INI settings are automatically applied by MEM. It is ill-advised to further change INI settings related to graphics. Full list of changes available here.

Better Hair Mod.
This mod simply improves the hair texture. It's not included in the Installer because it's not exactly vanilla-friendly (the hair is very smooth), but I do recommend installing it. See FAQ #2 for a tutorial.

NVIDIA / AMD Control Panel.
The truly essential settings to enable are Anti-Aliasing (use 4xSGSSAA), Ambient Occlusion (use HBAO, the game uses SSAO) and Triple Buffering (thanks brkbeatjunkie for the research). Guide available here. The other useful settings available are already modified by MEM, directly in the game's INI settings.
Careful however, tweaking these settings will drop your FPS. Make sure your computer can take it. Bad tweaks may also cause graphical glitches (this video for example, will make your game look like that).

ENBs, SweetFX and other graphical enhancement tools.
Here are some examples : SweetFX and ENB for ME2, Just ENB and SweetFX for ME2, others can be found here. Send screenshots !

1. Download the Installer from the downloads section, if you don't have it anymore. Run it. If you still have it, run it all the same, the Installer will auto update.
2. The Installer will tell you if an update is available and how to install it. If the major version of ALOT  you have installed (e.g. 6.0) is different than the newest, you will have to restore your game first.

1. General Advice
  • Pirated copies of ME2 and its DLCs may or may not work, in any case, they won't be supported.
  • Turn Origin's auto update setting off. Otherwise, Origin can overwrite modded game files with the originals without asking. If that happens, reinstall everything.
  • Avira and Bitdefender were reported to cause issues with MEM and the Installer. As a general rule, deactivate your antivirus when installing ALOT.

Is ALOT compatible with [insert popular mod here] ?
There are no known incompatibilities with any other mods, except ME2Controller (see below). Just make sure to install them in the correct order.
Install all content mods (eg ME2Recalibrated, etc) before ALOT.
Install all texture and meshes mods (ie TPF, DDS or MOD files) after ALOT, so they'll overwrite ALOT.
To install TPF, DDS, MOD mods, simply run the Installer, drag & drop them on it, and click install.
For more generic information about mod formats, read this article.
No Mini Games has been reported to cause NPCs to have blue eyes. I haven't verified it myself, but be warned.
ME2Recalibrated has an as of yet unexplained problem whereby controls in the character creation interface do not work with ALOT. The solution is to create your character on a vanilla game with ME2Controller, then only install ALOT.

3. How do I make a backup ?
You can backup and restore your game from the Installer's interface. Look into the Settings menu. Your game needs to be unmodded.

4. Installer not running ?
Applications like RivaTuner or MSI Afterburner can prevent the Installer from launching, for some reason. Disable these applications, install ALOT, then enable them again.

5. Crashes, freezes
ALOT shouldn't cause any CTDs (Crash to Desktop). However, here are a few workarounds for crashes encountered by users.
  • If you pirated ME2, cracked EXEs can cause this type of problem with modded games.
  • Running the game in windowed mode, adding the command line argument "-nomoviestartup" to the exe was reported to fix some CTDs (for example, crashes in the Kasumi DLC).
  • Disabling Motion Blur (in the GamerSettings.ini) fixed crashes in some DLCs.
  • Disabling ReShade / SweetFX / other fixed crashes for some people.
  • Flawless Widescreen was reported as a potential cause for crashes.

Adding DLCs after the installation
If you install a DLC after having installed ALOT, it is likely you will break the game. You have to vanilla your game completely, then redo the installation with your new DLC installed.

7. MEM versus Texmod, ME3Explorer
Texmod loads all the textures directly in your RAM when you run the game, and replaces them on the fly, whereas MEM replaces the textures directly in the game's files. So, with Texmod, the game would take several dozen minutes to boot every single time you run it. You're also limited to 4 GB of mods.
With MEM, you shouldn't experience loading screens longer than a few dozen seconds, at most, similar to the unmodded game.
ME3Explorer is a toolkit for modders, not a tool made to install mods. It has a number of issues related to textures (list) and is quite slow (a few hours to install ALOT).
MEM is built for speed and fixes many issues ME3Explorer texture installation has. Thus, it should be preferred to ME3Explorer for mod installation.

8. Some textures aren't high-resolution / still look unmodded
There are over 11 000 textures in ME2. ALOT is huge, but not that huge. I'm always working on more textures, but I prefer quality over quantity, so it's a slow process. Feel free to make some textures yourself and share them, to fill the gaps :).

9. Changing the default console keybind
