About this mod

Makes pipe guns behave more like guns through damage and other stat changes. There is now a much greater chance of dying if you get shot by marauders. Guns are dangerous.

Permissions and credits
Vanilla Pipe Weapons Aren't Guns

While they use cheap ammo, have a low VATS cost, and are found everywhere in the commonwealth... that's where most of the advantages stop.  It doesn't take long before Pipe Guns are more like close-range peashooters than anything else. After level 5 an un-modded Pipe Gun has been mostly outclassed by a machete, a strong arm, and a couple of perk points.

Why This Mod Makes Sense

A raider attacking an opponent with a tire iron is more time-efficient (and direct) than going through the effort to scrounge around or hand-make a gun that can actually consistently fire at an enemy.

However, the effort it takes a raider to make or steal a pipe weapon should actually increase their chances of survival in the Commonwealth...

It's hard to intimidate guarded caravans or groups of wastelanders when you're addicted to three different chems, starving, hungover, and wielding an ineffective mangle of household plumbing.

Now Pipe Guns Act Like Guns!

Pipe weapon damage has been buffed to a base damage of 45 (Getting shot with a .38 hurts!).
Base magazine size reduced (from 12 to 8). Reloading takes longer and you (and your enemies) will now have to reload more often.

Pipe revolver damage has been buffed to 55. Reloading takes longer.

Pipe bolt-action damage has been buffed to 75. Base magazine reduced ( from 6 to 5). Reloading takes longer.

All Pipe Guns are lighter in weight and have been renamed Raider Guns to reflect the apocalyptic tribal gangs who use them most.

This mod has been designed to work alongside other weapon re-balance mods (although you'll want to load this mod after to save it's changes).

Is This Mod Lore Friendly?

Honoring The Wall in Diamond City actually makes sense now as most raiders really can pose a threat.

Paying a toll or into a raider's protection racket is a good idea for the average wastelander.

When you hear shooting in the distance you may want to think twice about charging in.

Remember those hanging bodies at raider camps? Those people were too close to raider territory.

Don't get shot.
