I've been wanting to learn how to build a weapon for Fallout 4 from the ground-up for some time, and this is the result.  This adds a high-quality Beretta M9/92FS ("M9-FS") pistol to the game, featuring loads of colors, high-tech modifications, and unique legendary variants.  It features all-new meshes, textures, and sounds for both player and NPC, including silencer sounds.

It's balanced it to be viable from the early to late game.  If you really like it, you should be able to keep it around as your main sidearm for most, if not all of your game.

Textures are a mix of 2K/1K/512 for specific parts, but highly optimized for visual acuity and performance (i.e. you won't be waiting 2 seconds for the weapon to draw because the tiny trigger has a dedicated 4K texture and normal map.)

(For the firearm purists out there, this has the under-barrel shape of a 92FS, but with the M9 designation and engravings, which are much cooler.)

This currently uses the Deliverer animations, so it will use whatever replacers you might use.

★ ART CREDITS (MODELS/TEXTURES/SOUNDS)

Though I made all of the textures, and a handful of the models, some of the base models were purchased and modified, or used with permission from their talented creators (thank you!). This saved me some precious time, as the initial goal of this was a primary exercise in rigging up a raw weapon.  Here are a full list of credits:

  • All textures by me, fadingsignal
  • Streamlight Flashlight/Lasers, compensators, tac rails, and extended magazine models by me, fadingsignal
  • Base Beretta 92FS Model by yaloken, heavy remesh/fixes by me, fadingsignal
  • Leupold DeltaPoint Pro Reflex sight model by eNse7en (GameBanana)
  • YHM Phantom Silencer model by DrSpritz (CGTrader)
  • Base sounds by Magmacow (GameBanana) modified by me, fadingsignal

★ STATISTICS & IMPLEMENTATION

  • Its base damage is 20 before any perks, making it roughly 10% stronger than a base 10mm, to keep it balanced as an early weapon
  • With mods, base damage can be brought up to 42 before perks (roughly on-par with a .44) and over 100 damage with perks, making it absurdly powerful in the late game considering its fire speed and accuracy
  • Begins appearing at level 8 in stores and on Gunners
  • Uses script-injected Leveled Lists to avoid conflicts
  • 5 Unique Legendaries are placed around the game to find (spoilers at the end of the description)
  • Uses a .ESL Light Master plugin to avoid taking up a load-order slot
  • Though the M9 uses 9mm ammo in real-life, this uses 10mm to keep it easy. I may later add an option, but didn't want to conflict with other mods that already add 9mm.

★ MODIFICATIONS & FEATURES

This comes with most standard mods you would see on any base game pistol, along with a few unique mods, and tons of options to customize the appearance and function.  For example, the frame and grip color can be modified separately, making hundreds of combination options possible.

  • 9 Receivers - from Standard to Advanced
  • Glow Sights - in green, red, and blue
  • Reflex Sights - with 6 reticle options, in 3 colors totalling 18. (To change reticle, craft/attach the Reflex Sight, and a new category will appear.)
  • 4 Magazines - Standard (15), Quick Eject (15), Large (30), and Large Quick Eject (30)
  • 2 Barrels - Standard, and Extended
  • 3 Muzzles - Standard and Advanced Compensators, and a new Silencer
  • 3 Grips - Standard/Sharpshooter/Comfort
  • 12 Grip Colors - 7 standard, 5 unlockable legendary skins
  • 8 Frame Colors - 3 standard, 5 unlockable legendary skins
  • Attachments - New Streamlight TLR-2 Flashlight/Laser Combo - Can be set to fully OFF, light ON, laser ON, etc.

★ LEGENDARIES

There are 5 unique legendary variants with their own textures.  Finding these legendaries will unlock its unique skin which can then be crafted on other guns.

  • "BoS Paladin M9-FS" - Deals 35% to all non-Humans (new legendary effect)
  • "Born to Kill" - Gunners.  Deals more damage to target with each successive hit.
  • "A Moment's Notice" - Minutemen.  Faster reload and firing speed.
  • "Pop-A-Cap" - Nuka-Cola.  AP refills on critical hit.
  • "Freedom's Trail" - Railroad.  75% increased movement speed while aiming.

LEGENDARY LOCATIONS (check under spoiler!)

Spoiler:
Show

  • "BoS Paladin M9-FS" - Aboard the Prydwen near Maxson.
  • "Born to Kill" - Gunners base at Mass Pike Interchange, resting on the back of the toilet where you find the Grognak Comic
  • "A Moment's Notice" - On the desk next to the dead General in the Castle Tunnels.
  • "Pop-A-Cap" - Resting on the broken Nuka Cola machine inside Wilson's Atomatoys Corporate HQ
  • "Freedom's Trail" Resting on the map in the center of the Railroad HQ

★ KNOWN ISSUES / QUIRKS
  • As with all weapon mods that override the Pip-Boy light, when using the Streamlight attachment with flashlight ON, when the weapon is put away but not fully unequipped, the light will shine up at a weird angle.  Unequipping the weapon fixes this.  This cannot be fixed.
  • As with all mods that user lasers, it will go through geometry (i.e. walls) this cannot be fixed.  For this reason it does not spawn on NPCs.
  • If you open the file in the CK you will see a warning about the usage of an ma_ keyword.  This can be ignored.
  • This uses the Deliverer animations, and as such, comes with the vanilla bugs those have, specifically the top slide not animating when firing in 3rd person.  New animations may be in the works soon!
