IMPORTANT, DO NOT USE THIS MOD UNLESS YOU READ AT LEAST THIS FIRST PARAGRAPH!
Or may Nazeem shoot your kneecaps out!

DISCLAIMER:
This is to be used as both a mod and a guide towards maximizing your ability to play Skyrim, hopefully without triggering gaming induced seizures or strokes.  This mod makes various changes to Skyrim and the Guide (located below) gives you some tools to set yourself up for gaming success.    I am not a doctor, not your daddy, and not qualified to tell you how to live your life.  By using this mod/guide you are trusting that a random stranger calling himself "DMT" did his research, this is to only be taken as advice not as a specific one size fits all prescription. My name is Stu, I'm a USMC 0311 semi-disabled Veteran.  Maybe now that I'm not such a random stranger, you'll know I tried my hardest to make sure this guide is accurate.  I did my research, and I made this mod because I care about people.  That said, if you see that I missed something or you have more suggestions as to things/mods that can help leave a comment or send a message! Use common sense, if something you read in this mod doesn't sound like it'll work for you don't use it.

Stop playing if you start feeling like something isn't right!

If I've made a mod that's brought some joy into your day please spank that silly little "ENDORSE" button
Or consider buying me a Ko-Fi or stopping by my Patreon site, making a video, screenshots, posting to reddit, commenting... all help!

     HASHESH

HASHESH (Handicap Accessibility Series Helps with Epilepsy and Siezures Hopefully)
Is a series of mods that is intended to help people with neurological issues or other handicaps preventing them from being able to enjoy my favorite game.

This mod is dedicated to the following:

    • My Wife and best friend who has a heart condition causing mini strokes which can be initiated from some of the more extreme battles in this

      game.
    • A kind user, by the name of Nepenthye, informed me that there is a reddit user trying like heck to be able to get his girlfriend to be able to play Skyrim.  I dropped everything and got to work, here is part 1. (Part 2 is finished, If you're reading this it will be posted 24 hours after P1 releases).
    • Everyone in this community who has a handicap, I invite you to reach out to me and let me help you figure out what I can do to help make the game more accessible.  Full disclosure, I myself have a single broken vertebrae causing intermittent muscle seizing.  I am also 95% deaf in my right ear, we all have something so don't be scared to talk to me I'll do what I can to help with no judgments.
    • There is a blind man who wants to play Skyrim. I have no idea who he is but I know how to do it, my biggest hold up is my rig.  I rock an Acer Aspire e15 laptop that's almost 6 years old, overclocked and sputtering to keep up with the CK.  I've raised 500$ in 2 years of having a patreon.  I am beyond grateful to my patrons through the years.  I need about $2000 for a rig that can keep up with the demands of the CK.  My ability to mod is slowly decaying.  I need your help, all I ask, is for an ENDORSE if this mod can help you.  This wasn't a plea for money, this was a reminder to endorse.  By endorsing you shine a light on a mod that can help many.  It makes my 1000's of hours of work and stress and soon my computer sacrifice worth it.
    • For my son Alex, 100% of all Donation Points for this mod will go to "Child's Play Charities"  - When he was 5 he had a tumor the size of a softball removed from next to his lung.  Without charities like these helping keep spirits high many children wouldn't make it. Child's Play seeks to improve the lives of children in pediatric hospitals and other child welfare facilities through the kindness and generosity of the video game community and the power of play.  Having spent many years in the HORRIFFIC foster care system we have here in America myself, this charity is close to me personally.

    FEATURES

HASHESH is a 3 part mod series of fixes and tweaks meant to help not only those suffering from the lights flashing on the screen but anyone who has a handicap.  None of the 3 mods are dependent upon one another to use.

    HASHESH
    P1 (this mod):

    • All SSE "in hand" casting animations were removed. (spells still fire normally I am working on another part to HASHESH that will cover this.)
    • All SSE spell inventory icons were replaced with a new model.  No more animated floating balls in your spell menu.
    • Each spell school's inventory model is the corresponding spell tome model for that school.  EX: The spell "Flames" uses a destruction tome as it's base model, "Healing" uses a restoration tome, all shouts use a tome with the skyrim logo.  No fancy swirlys anymore!
    • All Killmoves have been disabled. Transferring to the Killcam can be a trigger for some. (ranged killmoves still happen, dragon killmoves untested)
    • Removed Radial Motion Blur, another camera effect that can be a trigger.
    • Removed camera shake effect, No More Motion Sickness is now outdated. Use if that's all you need.
    • Overhauled the starting spell "Healing" removed twirly effects, left the minor lighting so you can see thespell being used actively.  All other spells except "healing" still have swirly effects.  Other spells will be addressed in HP3

HASHESH P2 - FPS Boost Optimized Textures

Spoiler:
Show

Is useful to everyone who wants an fps boost not just those with neurological issues.  It is a separate mod from HP1 and does not require HP1 to use.  "But Daermonster, didn't this guy here and here already do that you say?"  Yes, yes they did and a good job at that!  Consider those the "regular" size cup of soda. Good for the average person, quenches your thirst, heck I even recommend and endorsed them myself.  I would suggest their mods (if you can) over my fps mod. Their mods give a good FPS Boost and leave textures barely noticeably changed.
My fps mods are FAR MORE DRASTIC THAN ANY BEFORE!  Here's why:
  • HP2 focuses on textures.
  • I took EVERY single Bethesda texture file and meticulously unpacked and optimized them all using CAO and ORDENADOR.  Then I did it a second time... Then I did it again.... MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!
  • HP2 has 2 mods to choose from, either will net you THE MOST EXTREME FPS BOOST ANY SINGLE SKYRIM MOD HAS EVER GIVEN, EVER... No joke.
  • The first mod cuts Texture size in half.  With this mod alone, I went from 30-40 fps outside to a flat 60 fps all the time probably would've gotten more but I have it set to max at 60.  Very minimal texture difference from vanilla. The textures are only really noticed when looking at objects up close.
  • The second option is a 75% reduction in textures In theory this could net some systems an almost SEVENTY FIVE PERCENT FPS BOOST!  That's insane.  Couple this mod with the other recommendations on FREE FPS's mod and you could run Skyrim on a calculator now thanks to me.  Don't tell Todd, we don't want him getting any ideas.  I can see it now "Skyrim Super Duper Special Anniversary Alexa Edition.....Squared." LMAO. or for short "SSE AE fghijklmnop 5.19B".
  • Use either the 50% or 75% not both.  Both mods only affect vanilla texture sizes.  Meaning it's compatible with EVERYTHING! Including your favorite fork texture mod that you can't live without.
  • NO ESP!  No esp taking up a slot in your precious load order.
  • Good for fast rigs that want to be faster up to 50-75% faster potentially.
  • Good for slow rigs that want a hunka chunka fps boost in a simple 1 mod format.
  • Good for persons predisposed to having seizures/Strokes while looking at flashing screens.  The smaller the texture the smaller the particles are that
flash/flicker and the more blurred they become allowing you to play the game with less chance of an episode trigger.
  • More details on the HP2 MODPAGE

HASHESH P3
- UNDER Development/WIP NOT YET RELEASED This is just a preview of planned features, some things may change.

Spoiler:
Show

  • Some spells Like "Firebolt" have tracer animations attached to them.  Seek and destroy initiated.
  • Explosions on spell impact are arguably the single potential seizure trigger.  This too shall be annihilated.
  • Any other areas mentioned by you the user will also be implemented in P3 also.
  • This isn't a long list but it's going to take the longest out of the 3 Hashesh mods to do.  I appreciate your understanding in this.

GUIDE TO SAFER GAMEPLAY

This will be split into 2 halves, the first half are recommendations specific to Skyrim, the Second half Will be general recommendations for everyday life.

SKYRIM SPECIFIC:

Spoiler:
Show

  • Use HASHESH Part 2 Extreme FPS Boost Texture Optimizer DOWNLOAD HERE
  • Use HASHESH Part 3 (not released yet, it's still a WIP, disregard step 2 for now this is a placeholder) Spells Overhauled
  • Avoid continually cast/concentration spells such as the starting spell "Flames" or "frostbite" & "Sparks". There are others like these.  The only spell that should still be ok is the starting spell "Heal".  I tweaked that spell to be safer to use by modifying the fx.
  • Avoid being a pure mage.  Until HASHESH P3 drops spell explosions and tracing effects can still be a possible trigger. At most I would dabble in spellcasting, akin to a "spellsword" class.
  • Use Fire type or Frost type spells instead of Shock type spells if using destruction.  Frost type is best to use, followed by Fire, avoid Shock spells.  Shock spells have many flashing light effects, fire is a good middle ground, use frost if you want to be safest.
  • Avoid using an ENB. Instead use a saturation booster if you want less dull colors.  This is a good one here...Saturation Increase by Simtar123
  • Lower the Brightness as much as you can without disrupting your ability to see things.
  • Use followers that don't cast spells like Mjoll/Janessa/Stenvaar.  Avoid spellcasters such as Eola/Marcurio/Belrand.
  • Grab a Pet and go get a 2nd Follower, or even 3! By using a mod like EFF or IAFT (I use IAFT but EFF is more popular) you can hire more than the vanilla 1 follower.  There may come a battle where the enemy is using so much magic you can't look at the screen.  Having multiple followers can mean the difference between being blinded and dying or getting blinded and getting phat lootz!
  • Increase The distance at which grass/trees/objects/actors are rendered in the game settings.  The further away the game renders them the less jarring popping in you will experience. Grass FPS Booster HIGHLY recommended
  • I wouldn't recommend using the sword Dawnbreaker or the shield Spellbreaker or the Ebon Mail Armor.  Or any Ward or Cloak type spells in general.

Additional Recommendations:
Here are some general tips that are a good idea to follow when playing any game or using any electronic.

Spoiler:
Show

  • Make sure there is ambient light.  The more light being emitted from a source that isn't your screen the more it will dampen any screen flickering.
  • Don't sit too close to the screen.  Don't sit so far away you have trouble seeing but do try and keep a good distance between you and the screen.  Hold phones at an arms length away while using them when feasible.
  • Set games to the lowest settings available.  The less flash and flair the better for you.  God rays, anti-aliasing,blurs, anistrophic filter should all be disabled when possible.  If on a pc set Vysnc to enabled This will help minimize flickering.
  • Decrease Water and weather effects.  Anything you can do to minimize reflective textures will be helpful.  Water/snow/windows all cast reflections.
  • Make sure your computers refresh rate on the display is set to 60hz and not 48.  Less flickering, smoother frames, less eye strain.
  • The more powerful a computer you have the less issues with visual triggers you'll have.
  • Put some calming music on while playing and lower the in game music.  Having soothing music helps you regulate your body optimally possibly preventing triggers from triggering to begin with.
  • Play for an hour and take a 15 minute break each hour.  NO MORE THAN 4 hours, plus break time, so 5 hours total, straight video gaming.
  • ALWAYS Use common sense and your own best judgment.  Take these tips and use what you can this is not a one size fits all problem nor is the solution.
  • Organite.  Crystal grows while under pressure.  Crystals (most all generally) eat emf.  They emit a neutral frequency which attracts negatively charged

EMF (aka electrons)and they poop out positively charged emf thus neutralizing much of the harmful WiFi/cell/radio/microwave radiation which is so prevalent in society. Organite is a pressurized crystal with metal shavings surrounding it, acting like an antennae for the -EMF.  Salt crystal Lamps also do a similar thing to a lesser extend and look cool while doing it.
  • Turn off all unnecessary apps and programs on your phone.  Use it at a bare minimum.  Set location on your maps to only enable when in use. Turn off WiFi/DATA/Bluetooth. only enable these when you need to use them, disable them otherwise.
  • Use Ethernet if possible rather than WiFi.  Aux cords rather than Bluetooth.  ALL EMF RADIATION CAN/WILL AND DOES effect our brainwaves.  Persons with neurological issues do not need extra things attacking the brain.
  • If you have seizures, then fluorescent light bulbs are public enemy number 1 for you.  They're bad in general for just about anyone regardless.  Fluorescents actually turn on and off faster than the average human eye can see. this rapid flickering not only can trigger an episode all by itself but it

also floods the brain with both daytime and nighttime hormones causing drowsiness/inability to concentrate/impaired risk assessment/and schizophrenic thoughts.  If Fluorescents are all you have be sure there is another light source like the sun or a regular bulb shining some ambient light into the room using fluorescents .  Be it an open window or door or even a lamp with a normal bulb that you bring in to the room as well.
  • Day vs Night... Daytime is the safer bet. Not only is there plenty of ambient light to drown out the screens light.  But at night the ionosphere rises due to lack of UV light pushing down on it.  When the Ionosphere rises up it allows EMF to travel further and be even more potent and harmful.  Also while on EMF beware "smart meters" they do absolutely nothing and emit dangerous level of radiation.  People have reported feeling sick WITHIN MINUTES ailing from all the typical signs of radiation poisoning including burns on the dermal tissue and hair follicle loss.  This stuff goes right through walls.
  • DO NOT SLEEP WITH YOUR PHONE BY YOUR HEAD!!!  If you keep your phone on your nightstand and use it as an alarm, like I used to do, you may want to stop.  Your phone even when turned completely off still acts as a beacon for attracting signals... This beacon for signals is a couple feet from your head for 8 hours straight E V E R Y day of your life.  EMF and Brainwaves are so close in wave length it's not funny.  Don't believe me? Check out the amazing advanced we've been having in prosthetics that you can move using a thought.
  • If using electronics at night many have a Dark/night/Blue Light mode. This helps your eyes adjust better while looking at a screen during times of low light.  Also once again turn the brightness down even more at night.

  • Try not to play by yourself.  It's a much safer bet to wait until somebody else is with you so they can call for help in case you have an episode.
  • They make eyeglasses specifically to help reduce video game induced seizures.  I don't have any recommendations but here's a link to a list of options you may find helpful. Review of Photophobia Glasses.
  • ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS check in with yourself on how you are feeling while playing.  Drink water, sugary and caffeinated drinks can lead to brain fatigue when the "crash" happens possibly resulting in a seizure.  Have a light snack if playing for a long duration, nuts have protein/salt/and essential healthy oils.  These are all needed for proper hydration and brain function.  The smell of REAL cassia cinnamon alone opens up the brain capillaries within mere seconds allowing for a net 2% brain function increase, just the smell alone does all that.  Never play if you are exhausted, exhaustion is a prime time for something to trigger an episode.  Be safe, be smart, use your judgment.
  • AND MOST IMPORTANTLY USE SOME DAMN HASHESH!  Staying relaxed, eating right, exercise and all the other fun stuff that encompasses your health are important factors to consider when assessing your risk for playing.  Hashesh usage has stopped my wife from having a seizure 2-3x a year down to 1x 2 years ago and counting.  It's a miracle medicine, explaining why lobbyists fight so hard to keep this from us.

INSTALLATION

Spoiler:
Show

Manual Install- Unzip the mod place contents into your Skyrim\data directory.
Mod Manager Installation - Install as normal, nothing special.

Requirements - ALL DLC's; Hearthfre, Dawngaurd, Dragonborn

Compatibility - Should be compatible with most all mods.
NOT COMPATIBLE WITH VIOLENS!!! HASHESH p1 disables ALL killmoves, Violens being a killmove mod all...see what I'm laying down here...?

Mods made obsolete - The following mods do similar things to a lesser extent:
No More Motion Sickness

Highly Recommended Mods that compliment this mod -
Free FPS - I almost listed it as a requirement for this mod, it's that important.  Check it out there's too many features to list.  Good for ALL users of ALL types.
Strange Runes - made by Powerofthree (they have made some very influential mods) This mod replaces all "hand casting" animations with rune effects.  This may be more suitable than vanilla for some people.  If this mod can help you I would use it with HASHESH p1 as well.  Just load their mod after my mod.
No more radial Blur - This disables the camera blur during combat.  Yes this is different and highly recommended.
No edge Glow - Disables the wierd glowing effect after casting a spell on self like stoneflesh or such.
A clear map of Skyrim - Awesome map that's easy on the eyes allowing you to see clearly.
Ultimate fog remover - Removes fog and dust effects.
Remove aspen Leaves and Pine Needles - The falling leaves can be an issue for some people, here's the fix.
Time on load screen (if you can find it) or Time Widget - Either mod will help you keep track of the real world time in game helping track how long you've been playing.
SSELODGEN or DYNDOLOD - The less "popping" in to the game screen the less chance to trigger an episode.
Underwater Visibility Fix - Helps you see clearly underwater.  Another possible trigger is the murky water, let's fix that.
SEPTIM - A very good guide that helped me learn a lot about modding.

A note on a reddit comment found on this thread HERE. A user mentioned that mods which lower quality are not recommended.  I strongly disagree with that advice.  I'm not an expert but EVERYTHING with the exception of that single comment that I've found on this subject points to the opposite.  The less fancy the video the better, the more fps you get the better, the more fps the less likely you'll have popping in issues. I could be wrong, again I'm not an expert.

F.A.Q.

Spoiler:
Show

Q. - Is mod "X" compatible with this mod?
A. - I don't know.  Why don't you try it and find out.  Then let me know and I can list it on this modpage if needed.

Q. - I have "Insert type" of health issue.  Will your mod help with that?
A. - I'm not a doctor, nor a qualified medical professional of any sort I have no idea if this mod & guide will help anyone at all, I certainly hope it does.  In the Marines I became what is called a "Combat Lifesaver" meaning - if you get shot I can patch you up.  If you get "the shot" I can't help you.  This is simply an assortment of tips I found across the internet.  Don't use any of it unless it rings true to you and your situation.  Then please use common sense and keep an eye on yourself and how you feel.

Q. - I have a disability that prevents me from playing and I don't think this mod will help.
A. - Send me a message.  We can talk in private and see if there's anything I can do to help get you playing some Skyrim!

Q. - Why don't you work for Bethesda yet?
A. - Because I'm too profane and vulgar for their liking.

Q. - I did NOT read your guide and I'm still having issues with getting triggered and I can't figure out why...?
A. - I don't see stupidity as a handicap and therefore am not willing to help you.

Q. - What do you have planned for the future of this mod/series?
A. - I'm Glad you asked...

FUTURE PLANS FOR MOD -

My next biggest task is getting HASHESH P3 off the ground.  P3 will cover spells you have casted and their impact animations.

I'm hoping for feedback please LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!!! So I can try and incorporate it.

Adding soft colored light to the hands in place of the removed casting models.

I would love to be able to help paraplegic people play along with even the blind, but alas that requires $$$... Know anyone wanting to invest? HMU. Nexus/Bethesda staring at you....
