What does it do?
This mod greatly increases the duration of enemy poisons, giving them significantly more time to deal damage.

All poison effects applied by enemies have had their duration increased and damage adjusted. Universally, the total damage a poison deals is greatly increased, though in most cases per-second damage is reduced.

Some poisons have been tweaked.
  • Spriggan poison now targets magicka in addition to health.
  • A new poison effect has been created for Solstheim albino spiders that now targets only health instead of reusing frostbite's health and stamina poison.

Poisons applied by both bites and spit attacks have been altered.
  • Bite poisons are fast-acting. They deal more per-second damage, but have lower duration.
  • Spit poisons are slow-acting. They deal less per-second damage, but have higher duration.
Both deal the same amount of total damage, but do it in different time frames.Enemy poisons without a duration and pre-made and crafted poison consumables are not effected.

A vanilla bug where spit-attack poisons such as those from Frostbite Spiders could not be cured by Cure Poison effects has been fixed as of version 1.2!

As of version 1.2, the specific poison changes are:

What effect does this have on gameplay?
Enemy poisons now do significantly more total damage. The vanilla frostbite spider poison spit did a total of 9 damage over 3 seconds. Now it does 90 over 90. It is now much more dangerous if ignored for its full duration. This also encourages the player to invest in poison resistance and curing effects, which I often felt were useless clutter in vanilla. With this mod, cure poison potions become a much better gameplay option, even more so since the vanilla bugfix made in version 1.2 now allows spit attack poisons to be cured. Somewhat outdated details here.

Why make this mod?
While playing with ideas for an alchemy mod, I gave some thought to effects that I never really use. This led to me thinking about the general impotence of vanilla enemy poisons. I decided to work on this little fragment to fix that.

In vanilla Skyrim, I have never found myself particularly concerned about being poisoned. In most cases, by the time I noticed I had been poisoned and decided whether or not I needed to do something about it the poison had expired. Furthermore, my experience is that vanilla poison will usually not kill you or do significant damage if ignored. Basically, I feel that vanilla poison does not pose a threat, and when it does that it does not meaningfully differentiate itself from flat damage.

I settled on increasing duration as increasing per-second damage still felt no different than flat damage, and the increase in duration gives more time for the player to react to being poisoned and rewards you for dealing with it early.

Future plans?
Continue to iterate based on play experience and user feedback.

Feedback of any kind is appreciated.
