About this mod

Adds a "Mercenary" system to FNV allowing you to hire soldiers from 20 factions with over 150 choices to choose from. Includes an Optional Addon for TTW.

==Overview==
Mojave Squads adds a new party management system to Fallout New Vegas. Throughout the Mojave, you will find “Squad Boards” which allow you to recruit soldiers that will act as followers. They are handled separately from the vanilla follower system and must be paid a recruitment cost as well as daily wages.

This mod also uses a naming system to give each squad member a unique name. For example, recruit an NCR Trooper and you’ll be joined by a Private Smith.

Squad members also earn XP and can leveled.

Some soldiers require you have a high enough reputation with a faction or a quest completed before they can be recruited.

You can issue orders to your Squad using a radio. This includes move and attack orders. Some squad members can be ordered to hack terminal, pick locks, repair equipment, or heal.

Some soldiers come with unique perks that are added to you and your squad members. Recruit a Centurion and you and your squad members will gain additional DT.

In total there are 20 factions and over 150 different kinds of soldiers for you to recruit. The TTW Addon adds an additional 14 factions.

This mod should be compatible with most armor replacement mods.

The entire system is configurable using a config. You can set the max size of your squad, whether members are essential, and much more.

Sets the max size of your squad. I don’t recommend going above 10.
0 Disable, 1 Enable


bRename=0
Allows you to rename your squad members other than creatures
0 Disable, 1 Enable


bEssential=0
Determines whether or not squad members are flagged as essential (cannot die)
0 Disable, 1 Enable


iLoot=1
Setting for looting squad corpses.
0 Disabled, 1 Only ammo can be looted, 2 Allows you to loot like normal
For balance reasons this is set to 1 by default.


fXP=.25
Controls whether you get XP from the kills your Squad makes
.25 = 25% of the Kill’s XP Value goes to the player, .50 = 50%, 1 = 100%, and so on
Set to 0 and receive none of the XP from Squad’s kills


bQuestReactive=1
The Troops you can recruit are influenced by Quests and game progression
For example, Vet Rangers aren’t available until they start arriving in the Mojave from Baja, Praetorians are unlocked after saving Caesar’s life, and Eyebots are avaliable from the Brotherhood if you let them study EDE.
If this is disabled, everything is unlocked from the start

bMedicTier=1
Determines whether medic-type soldiers are tiered in their healing effectiveness
If enabled not all medics heal the same amount, if disabled all medics can heal to 100%.

bFactionCheck=0
This setting adds the soldiers to their respective vanilla factions (if they have one)
By default, squad factions are handled separately from vanilla factions. This means you can take an NCR Ranger to a powder ganger camp without worrying about a firefight, but the Ranger won’t join you in attacking Camp McCarren either.
If this is set to 1, then that Ranger will be added to the vanilla NCR Faction meaning they will attack Powder Gangers, Legion, etc. on sight.
Set this to -1, and Squads are not bound at all by factions. For example, NCR Troopers in your squad can be ordered to attack other NCR Troopers
1 Enable, 0 Disable, -1 Factionless


bReputationCheck=1
Enables a reputation check before hiring soldiers. For example, you cannot hire NCR Rangers unless you are LIKED by the NCR.
0 removes that check, meaning you can hire NCR Rangers even if you are hated by the NCR
1 Enable, 0 Disable


bPets=0
If enabled, animals and robots are not bound by reputation after they are recruited
For example, a Mongrel recruited from the Legion can be ordered to attack Legionaries and is not lost if your reputation with the Legion drops

bLegionHealing=1
Soldiers recruited from the Legion are healed with healing powder, not stimpaks
1 Enable, 0 Disable


iToughenUp=0
Adds additonal health to squad members based on the amount entered.
0 Disable, 100 = +100 HP, 200 = +200 HP, etc.
I highly recommend increasing if you are playing with any mod that increases weapon damage

bPerks=1
Some squad members come with certain perks that are added to you and your squad (i.e. increased Crit. Damage or +DT)

Enables Extra Squad Boards to the world that are not included by default due to either lore or balance reasons.

bDLC=1
If enabled, squad members will not join you when you start a DLC and instead will head to whatever location is set as your squad’s “base”. By default, that would the Prospector’s Saloon.

bSkillHeal=1
Determines whether you can use your Repair/Medicine Skill to Heal Squad Members. The amount of health you can restore is determined by your skill. (i.e. 50 medicine means you can heal soldiers to 50% health)

Squad Members do not follow you inside casinos at the Strip.

bEarnXPFromPlayer=0
If enabled, squad members will earn XP from the kills the player makes.

fPriceMulti=1
Sets a price multiplier for soldier’s recruitment costs.
Examples: Setting this to 1.25 means soldiers will be 25% more expensive. Setting this to .75 means they will be 25% cheaper.
Set this to 1 to restore the default cost, set to 0 and soldiers will be free.


fDailyWagePercent=.10
What percent of the initial recruitment cost are paid as daily wages. (.25 is 25%, .5 is 50% etc.)
Example, a soldier with a 100 cap recruitment cost will cost 25 caps every day if this is set to .25
set to 0 to Disable Daily Wages


bCreatureUpkeep=1
If enabled, you have to pay daily “wages” for animal and robot companions in the form of upkeep.

Install like you would a normal mod using the mod manager of your choice.

==Future Plans==
I don’t have any big plans for this mod other than bug fixes. I’ll probably make a TTW Version when 3.3 comes and try to import some of these features to my Rebuild the Capital mod.

I set up the mod to work as a framework of sorts that makes it easy to add additional factions. If there is enough interest and after any fixes have been made after the initial release, I’ll upload a tutorial on how this can be done for anyone looking to make a submod.
