[Yet Another Revamped Weapon Troubleshooting Guide]
If you see any mention to fix your mod-list in game, then you have not followed the listed requirements + incompatibilities. YARW checks to see if the following INCOMPATIBLE mods are installed: YAW, YAW-Addon + Fixes, YAWC, YAWC-Addon + Fixes, YAOW, BB-3015, Clan Invasion, Re-balanced & Expanded Weapons, Scary Tanks, some Mech-Upgrade mods such as Better Cantina and many more. There is also a secondary check to see if the minimum mod requirements are met. PLEASE don't ignore the bad mod-list detected message if it appears in game. It being there and this guide is to help users have a fun and stable MW5-Modded experience.
Additionally, there is now a "potentially incompatible" mod-list detection system that can be toggled off with YARW's Mod-Options disable UI setting. Mods under this category wont completely break the game, but they will break something (And not necessarily to just YARW). As such, they are not recommended. YAWE will be removed from this list after it gets overhauled to work better with YARW.
If you are using Revamped Machine guns: Xeno Pax Optimize and The Timber Mod are NOT compatible due to causing physics-based crashes from the RMG's projectile based machine guns. (Xeno Pax Optimize is more likely to cause other physics related crashes anyways).
Steam Workshop users will need to download Mod-Options from Nexus.
*FYI: The broken modlist detection system only looks for incompatible mods and cannot detect an improper load order. It should be common knowledge by now to NOT MESS WITH THE LOAD ORDER minus a very small quantity of exceptions.
[How to fix things]
Make sure that the listed mods above are NOT enabled (Besides Mod-Options of course), the minimum mod requirements are met and that all of your mods are set to their default load order (unless stated otherwise). The two main exceptions to the default load order requirement: Mod-Options, which needs to load last in your load order and MW5 compatibility pack (It's likely best to have this installed even if not a direct requirement) to load before any other mod.
Other Exceptions: Other exceptions exist only because of their interactions with other mods. They are listed in pairs and note what should be re-arranged.
- TTRulez_AIMod2 & Coyote Missions: This is up to player preference as which mod overrides the other affects the game differently. If performance is the main concern, make sure Coyote Missions loads afterwards. If gameplay consistency with AI and their behaviors is more important, set TTRulez to load after Coyote Missions.
- Better Mission Choices & Known Universe: Load BMC After KU
- UnderTonnage & Purchase Salvage 2 & Von-Biomes: Load UT2 After VB (VB has a MO to toggle for UT2 as well)
- Armor Green & Co-op Unlocked: Load AG after Co-Op Unlocked
- Classic Mech Collection & Classic Mech Alt-Icons: Load CMC after CM-AI (Only applies if mods are downloaded from Steam).
If you need to change your mod load-orders (LO) but do not know how to, use MW5 Mod Organizer or MW5 Load Order Configurator (MW5-LOC) to set up your mods. (I personally just use MW5-MO and am not familiar with MW5-LOC, other than it works). Every other Mod "Configurator" is really a Mod-Mangler and will FUBAR your modlist to where every mod will need to be uninstalled and re-downloaded.
Note for MW5 MO: There are two separate numbers under "Loadorder". The Left number is the actual load-order of said mod. The green one to the right is the default load-order put in place by the mod author, which should be followed in ascending number order (load order is sorted lowest to highest starting at 0).
Example: Mods with a default load order of 6 should load after mods with a default LO of 5, but also before anymore mods that have a default LO of 7 or higher.
If this guide does not help you fix your broken mod-list, then please go to the Yet Another MW5 Server Discord (link found on the MW5 main-menu) and post the issue in the [support: troubleshooting channel].
[Additional Information/Resources]
Any questions not answered here are likely to have answers on YARW's Mod-Description page or Steam Guide.
- YARW Steam Guide: Has an FAQ section for more info
- Mod Description page
- Yet Another Revamped Mech Upgrades (YARMU): If you want a mod that changes/adjusts Mech Upgrades. YARMU is highly customizable as it has Mod-Option sliders. This allows users to buff or nerf the upgrades to their preferences while also not breaking YARW or missile flight logic in general.
[Mod incompatibility reasons]
- Yet Another Weapon/ Weapon Clan: Yet Another Revamped Weapon is built from the same source files as these mods and acts as a REPLACEMENT so that YARW is still compatible with basically any mod that requires YAW/YAWC.
- Clan Invasion: This mod is massively broken and out of date to begin with. It has been listed as a problem for MW5 in general (At least at this time with its latest release). For YARW in particular, it will cause issues (Issues vary on degree) with some weapons and is extremely redundant. Redundancy equals worse game performance and slower load times. As with ALL other weapon mods, CI does not use the same standards as YARW which will equal very poor game balance and make certain weapons 100% pointless. Worst case, it may cause crashes.
- YAOW/DeadRaiser's Addon + Fixes Mods for YAW/YAWC: These mods are simply not built for YARW and most of the fixes/features already exist or are not needed for YARW. Otherwise, same reason as with every other weapon mod.
- Scary Tanks: As much as I love this mod, it is known to induce a very problematic crash upon killing VTOLs and it prevents AOE damage against Tanks. I recommend using the YAML vehicle health sliders instead.
- Mech Upgrade and/or Cheat mods such as Better Cantina: Many of the mech upgrade mods are for some reason cheat mods that simply amp up the upgrade stats way beyond vanilla. Vanilla missile velocity upgrades themselves can actually cause issues with Vanilla LRM flight logic to begin with. So, mods that increase this more will cause issues. YARW has fine-tuned LRMs for their High-Arc flight path, which makes them more susceptible to being broken from too many velocity improvements. That said, there is still a considerable buffer for velocity buffs before YARW missile flight logic breaks. Use YARMU as noted above for a Mech Upgrades mod.
- Xeno Pax Optimize & The Timber Mod: These mods are only 100% incompatible if also using Revamped Machine Guns.
Will induce hard-locks (AKA crashes) whenever an environmental object such as a tree or rock is hit with a RMG Machine Gun projectile. Xeno Pax Optimize is also more likely to induce other physics related game crashes, often when VTOLs are destroyed, hit by a high impulse projectile or impact into a solid object. This mod also does very little to nothing in terms of helping with performance.
Basically, these two mods **** with the trees and the Lorax isn't too happy about it. Ongoing negotiations will continue in the hope of solving these crashes, but there likely isn't anything to be done.
[Mods that Break YAML Based MW5]
- Community Asset Bundle/Mech_Bundle: Still exists on steam for some reason. It doesn't work with MW5 and will break your game. It's not even on Nexus anymore.
- MercTech/MercTech Addons: MercTech and MercTech only addons are their own separate thing and won't work with YAML/YAML Based mods. Should be obvious.
- Another MW4 Lasers/Skins/SFX Mod: Somehow mod breaks all the weapon and equipment slots in all mods.
- Mods not updated for after DLC 6 Released: Not all old mods are broken, but a lot of them are. Just be wary of anything not updated after DLC 6 launched. Anything not updated after May 26th, 2021, WILL NOT WORK.
- List of mods that simply DO NOT WORK WITH YAML: ANY engine.ini change mods (Snake-Oil "BS", DO NOT USE), Simple Cheat Mod, QOL Upgrades 2, SMMO, Most Needed Gameplay Changes, SMM series of mods, Zulu series of mods, MW5 Rebalance series of mods and the list continues....
*Note that some of these mods have mechanics/features already integrated into YAML which is why they are not compatible. Theres many more that are not also listed.
