About this mod

Keira's Magic Lamp is now a real lantern.

What's the purpose?
It makes the Keira's Magic Lamp useful by turning it into a real lantern, while preserve its original purpose (the lamp will still turn green).
You can now use it when exploring dark place instead of using Torch or Lantern.

Additionally, the mod contains many tweaks:
  • Added some omnidirectional lighting for more convenient memory viewing;
  • Removed all player angle checks from memory activations during the quest "A Towerful of Mice" since they were annoying and no longer make sense with the additional lighting;
  • Removed movement restrictions while holding the lamp;
  • Fixed a bug where the magic lamp sound would not play in some areas;
  • Fixed a bug where the magic lamp would stop glowing until the player reequipped it.

Being Next Gen version. I put the same setting as Natural Torchlight so you can customise the distant light modifier and shadows of Magic Lamp.
You can increase the light density near your foot, or make it possible to see far away. You can either change whether the shadow is cast near, far, both or none, and how it's blending.

Recommend to set Ray-Tracing OFF.
There is unfortunately a side effect where the surrounding area became too much yellow. This is due light source changes its properties the light beams take a bit of time to recalculate.
Unless we got Ray Reconstruction from Cyberpunk2077.

Installation
For newcomer/beginner: I invite you reading The Tome of Witcher 3 Modding

DON'T USE VORTEX!!
1. Install Community Patch - Shared Imports[ IMPORTANT!! ]
2. Use Witcher 3 Mod Manager, or extract the files in your game's directory Witcher 3.
3. Launch Script Merger and merge the script if it conflict.
4. Use Menu Filelist Updater, if you have installed the mod manually.

How to uninstall?
Delete the folder "modSmartMagicLamp" and the file "naturaltorchlight.xml" from the Bin folder.
Also delete "modSharedImport" if you don't need it.
Then launch Script Merger and remerge again.

Compatibility and Conflict

This is a scripted/bundled mod that affect the following file:
- content\scripts\game\gameplay\items\itemEntity.ws

- gameplay\globals\soundbanks_always_load.csv
- items\usable\q106_magic_oillamp.w2ent
- quests\part_2\quest_files\q106_tower\phases\q106_oillamp.w2phase

It's dependant to Shared Imports. Without it, you'll get errors.

So don't forget to run Script Merger.
If you wish to use on the Classic 1.32, install the original mod.

Recommended Mod
Below are the list of mod I recommend with mine:
Natural Torchlight: Most Recommended. Customise the light distance for torch and lamp.
New Torch FX: Most Recommended. Rework the Torch fire FX into high quality.
New Fires: Rework fire effect in higher quality, performance wise.
Lamp on Player's boat. Add lamp to boat.
Lightsource Yrden And Igni: Put more light to Yrden and Igni.
VGX Burning Village Cutscene: Replicate the Heatherton village cutscene based on the VGX trailer.
Road Lights - DLC: Add various standing torch road in White Orchard.
