Big Thanks to Capt. Panda , Kaoson & DroppedIceCream for featuring Strongholds - Largashbur in their mod showcase Videos!

My goal with these mods is to give the Orc Strongholds a much needed makeover, to make them look and feel more like a fortified Stronghold and less of a generic camp, and give each Stronghold it's own visual personality.

                                                                      (TLDR Further Down)

Largashbur is the second entry in my overhauls, my aim is to focus on immersion and adding elements to bring the strongholds up to date while still keeping them lore friendly.

I feel the vanilla Orc Strongholds are quite lackluster and underwhelming, there is not much difference between the Orc Strongholds and the average Bandit camp, like Halted Steam Camp, Robber's Gorge etc.
When exploring Skyrim it's difficult to distinguish between Bandit Camps and Orc Strongholds, so hopefully this mod injects more personality into the different locations, and makes it easier to distinguish the two.

Quotes from the Wiki ;

Orsimer -

- "Besides being renowned for their smithing skills, Orcs are also make delicate and beautiful arts."

i read this and thought there aren't any signs of this in the Orc Strongholds in Skyrim, most tribal communities in our real world create artistic crafts and decorations, so i added some signs of culture with banners from a mod resource, as well as the dark elf lanterns.

Orcs in Skyrim

- "Orc Strongholds are scattered throughout Skyrim. The Orcs have lived in Skyrim for centuries in tribal communities based around Strongholds."

- "Orc strongholds are well defended and are often situated around deposits of mineral wealth. Each one contains the infrastructure to support many families, surrounded by walls designed to repel anything but the strongest martial force. destroyed strongholds often return within a generation of their destruction"

When i hear the word stronghold i imagine a heavily fortified structure that controls an area, and is able to repel invader attacks, and so with this mod i hope to change that and make Largashbur look and feel like an intimidating and imposing Stronghold, without going over the top.

When thinking of the design, i wanted to stay away from the typical high fantasy Orcs from IPs like Warcraft, Warhammer and Lord of the Rings, as much as i love those fictional worlds i wanted to stay as close to vanilla as i could, as i personally play a vanilla + modlist.

For Largashbur i took inspiration from many sources, historical forts as well as many different concept artworks, this Viking Fortress concept ar by Caroline Soucy was the image that started off the creative process.

Largashbur's Design is basically a single long wall nestled between mountain sides, i decided to keep that same layout and extend the walls sideways to create more footroom behind the walls, and increase the height of the walls, in my first design the walls were twice the height of the final version, i felt that this was too much, while it did look imposing it looked a little out of place and over the top. Towers have also been added, and the gate has been increased and built a gatehouse around it.

My idea behind the hanging mammoth skull was not only to give the Stronghold a striking visual decoration and reflect the tribal culture of the Orcs and show that they are great hunters, which makes it look more intimidating. The skull also would work as a defence, the gatehouse would be the main point of attack, invaders would most likely have a battering ram, so my idea was that the Orcs would drop the skull on anyone unlucky enough to be underneath, crushing them.

                                                                                (TLDR)

- This is an Exterior Overhaul of Largashbur
- Extended the walls to the sides and makes them higher.
- Adds Towers
- Adds a Gatehouse
- Moves the Longhouse
- Adds a small Malacath Shirne
- adds Clutter, flowers and Decorations for immersion
- Adds a few Npcs

- This mod does not edit the interior of the Largashbur Longhouse.
- This mod does not edit any vanilla NPCS, only markers have been moved.

The full detailed list of changes will be in the changelog.

The following are not required for my mod to function, it will function without these, but to add an extra important layer of immersion these mods fit thematically with the end design.

FYX - 3D Stockades - Walls and Gate - the vanilla pencil crayon stockades look too perfect, these make the stockades look much more rugged, you may see clipping and floating issues if you don't use these, as i built the Stronghold while using these.

FYX - 3D Stockades - Makes the stockade floor look much better looking.

Unreal 4K-8K Mammoth Skeleton ReTexture - this is HIGHLY reccomended, the mammoth skulls i have placed are 1.5x the size, therefore you will notice the ugy textures if you use vanilla, i personally use the 4K Version from this mod, it's incredible.

4K Tusks - Same as above, i placed many Mammoth and Horker Tusks, especially for the Throne, the horker tusks are 3x the size as vanilla, so i suggest the 4K version.

- Giant Hanging Bones Retexture - Beautiful texture.

better ropes for skyrim SE - i've added lots of ropes and vanilla ropes are ugly.

Solitude Objects SMIMed - festival ropes

Solstheim Objects SMIMed - High Poly Dark Elf Furniture - I placed a Dark Elf Throne outside the longhouse for the Chief, the vanilla mesh is ugly.

Dovahnique's Diverse Dark Elf Lanterns (BOS - ENB Lights - High Poly) - I Added some Dark Elf lanterns around the Stronghold, this mod is a beautiful addition.

- High Poly Canticle Tree combined with A Canticle Tree - I placed a dummy Ancestor's Glade Tree inside the stronghold, the Vanilla one is ugly.

Spice Of Life Orc Strongholds - improves the Orc Buildings texture, place after your main texture overhauls. there is also a patch for Fyx and this mod to work together here Spice of Life - FYX 3D Patches

Daedric Shrines - All in One - OR - Daedric Shrines - Malacath just get them :)

- Children of the Pariah an Orc NPC Overhaul - You don't need this but it's a fantastic mod

Daughters of Malacath - you don't need this but it gives the Orc women a much needed makeover.

HDT Orc Helmet - the finishing touch to the orc armor :)

(I can't be assed relinking all this so copy paste the name into the search bar to see if it is on LE)

eFPS - Exterior FPS boost - you will get flickering and  disapearing objects as you move around the Stronghold in some minor areas, i have made compatibility patch to fix this, you can find it in the optional files tab.

Spice of Life - Orc Strongholds SE - There are floating leaves and a clipping floor near my newly placed walls when this mod is running alongside my mod, a Patch is provided in the optional files tab.

Lux Via - You will see floating objects near the farm area if you use Lux Via with my mod, a Patch is provided in the optional files tab

Lux Orbis -
If you have Lux Orbis and my mod the campfire will have been moved back to vanilla location, there is a patch for this in the optional files tab.

- Any mod that alters the exterior cell of Narzulbur will be incompatible.

- Unknown if extra Orc Npcs mods have an effect as i don't use them. my mod already adds a few extra npcs so you might not need any extra.

GRASS MODS

There WILL be quite a lot of clipping grass, depending on which grass mods you use. Won't be making patches for grass mods other than the two grass mods listed below that i personally use in my load order. I have made edits to the vanilla terrain on the main mod, it's not the best edit, grass is a pain in the Ck so
If anyone wants to make a grass patch for my mod go ahead.

Folkvangr - Grass and Landscape Overhaul - You'll see grass everywhere if you use this, there's a patch in the optional files tab.

Origins Of Forest - 3D Forest Grass - again you'll see grass everywhere, i'm still trying to figure out a patch for this, as i use Origins + Folkvanger combined.

DYNDOLOD USERS

- you will need to re run DynDolod after installing my mod, otherwise you'll get pop in of the walls and towers from a distance.

LOAD ORDER

I run my stronghold mods relatively low in my load order.

Example ;

- All other mods
- Strongholds - Narzulbur
- Strongholds - Largashbur
