Smooth HUD - Immersive Transitions (ESPless)

Description

Have you ever tried out oHUD and used the "immersive HUD" feature before realizing that it kind of just pops UI elements into the game without a smooth fade in and out? Not to mention that there are vanilla elements in-game that fade smoothly in and out- namely the Sneak Meter and the XP notification. Jarring, isn't it?

Apparently, the functionality to smoothly fade out HUD elements has existed since at least 2019,  but nobody has done it yet. Fourteen years of seeing your HUD when you don't need to, sheesh!

I forked Qolore7's Contextual HUD and created a mod that smoothly fades in the HP, AP, Ammo, and Compass UI elements according to your preferences. Since the entire mod just consists of a single script, the fantastic Stentorious was able to convert it to running on ScriptRunner without an .esp. The conditions where you can see each element and the speed of the fades are all configurable via .ini file.

Want to see for yourself? Watch this video of the mod in action. Feel free to make the fades slower or faster as you please.

Future Features

  • support for HUD Editor, M.U.X. Series - Lite Edition, and Darnified UI
  • a XML-powered menu to edit the .ini ingame, while remaining .espless
  • support for smooth fading of UI elements of other mods, please request them in the Posts section
  • a Fallout 4 version for FallUI. I discovered that apparently this feature does not exist for the FO4 modding scene yet
Requirements

JIP LN NVSE Plugin, JohnnyGuitar NVSE, ShowOff xNVSE, and lStewieAl's Tweaks are hard requirements.

Install Order for the Clean VUI Plus Version:

The mod can safely be installed and uninstalled at any time during a playthrough.

Compatibility
This mod adds out-of-the-box fading for HUD elements from the following mods:
B42 QuickThrow  - grenade icon controlled by CND
B42 FireMode - ammo icon controlled by CND
Just Assorted Mods - smooth fading for dynamic crosshair and visual objectives controlled by Compass
MAPMO - quest log controlled by Extra HUD setting
Quick Grenade Hotkey - grenade icon controlled by CND, must load above Smooth HUD

Unfortunately this isn't compatible with the following mods at the moment:
Darnified UI - patch planned
HUD Editor - patch planned
Incompatible with M.U.X. Series - Interface Overhaul and unnecessary due to M.U.X. already having the same features.
Incompatible with the anti-overlap feature of JIP Companions Command and Control but runs fine with it turned off.

Credits
