About this mod

My 3 vanilla-style Legion quests; Five-Card Ante, Yes I Would Actually, and You Go To My Head, merged into a single ESM. These quests are very much meant to compliment Legion Quests Expanded, however it is not required.

DefinitelyNotSade's Legion Quest Compilation

It is pretty well-known at this point how much cut content for Caesar's Legion was left out of Fallout: New Vegas. As such, engaging with the content in the Mojave from the perspective of a Legion player will never be as complex or comparable in terms of content compared to the NCR.

However, these quests try to at least address this; three new vanilla-style quests for Legion players to do during their adventures in the Mojave.
Or at least, should give you enough Legion fame in a more natural way to get the kick-ass Lucky Shades without grinding out killing/stealing for enough NCR dog tags.

For further details about each quest, including how to start them, please see their respective mod pages:

  • Five-Card Ante: Exploits the structure of the vanilla quest, Three Card Bounty, to facilitate a mission to assassinate First Recon.
  • Yes, I Would, Actually: Gives Legion players a way through the Bitter Springs trifecta of quests: Climb Ev'ry Mountain, Bitter Springs Infirmary Blues, and No, Not Much.
  • You Go To My Head: A small quest to eliminate Ranger Milo and his goons outside of Nelson for Dead Sea.

Compared to Legion Quests Expanded

Legion Quests Expanded is an outstanding mod that overhauls some quests in the base game to better accommodate Legion players, or even to have
new outcomes favouring the Legion. LegionaryH did this by mostly re-using existing voice lines and quest logic, or by splicing up some existing audio to create new lines for new content, which was expertly handled, IMO.

However, LQE was made a very long time ago (per Internet standards), and as such, is a bit buggy.
More importantly, because of its age, doesn't adhere to more modern mod-making (hooray alliteration) practices, that this compilation implements:

  • Use of newer script extender functions and event-handlers to make changes, rather than making hard edits to Forms/Worldspaces
  • Relying on hard edits usually makes mod compatibility a huge PITA
  • Did not forward fixes/changes from YUP
  • Worst of all, LegionaryH has a restrictive set of permissions on the mod, so someone else can't fix it up and re-release it, unlike this mod.

To mitigate any bugs you might experience with LQE, irrespective of using this mod at all, grab DiDisaan's patch for YUP and LQE. It fixes up every bug I've encountered with LQE.

I've tried as much as possible to not touch content added/altered by LQE, however, there is a small dialogue conflict with Dead Sea for a quest in this mod, You Go To My Head. You can find a patch fixing this conflict in the Optional Files section.

On Voice Acting

The last major difference between DNSLQC and LQE is this mod's NPC's are completely unvoiced.
I think most of the output amateur voice actors do for mods is complete shite for numerous reasons, and it's not important to me that all the NPC's are voiced. Think of it as one of those cRPG's that didn't get a high enough budget for full VO coverage.

I, frankly, am tired of inadequate performances from amateurs recorded on cheap-ass USB microphones, on top of the resulting audio not properly gated, EQ'd, de-essed, and compressed to an adequate standard. I would rather quest mod authors focus more on content than even thinking about voice-acting. End of speech, Ron Swanson.

Additionally, at this time, I am not entertaining using AI voices, again, for several reasons.
Lastly, my dialogue is not the most well-written; definitely function-over-form, in that regard.
So competent voice-acting would be wasted on these quests anyway.

Credits

  • Obsidian, for making one of the best games ever made
  • The entire xNVSE team in general, the impact of their hard work on the F:NV modding community cannot be overstated
  • JazzIsParis and LuthienAnarion for JIP LN; certain functions from that mod are incredibly useful, and this mod wouldn't exist without it
  • carxt/karut and c6 for JohnnyGuitar NVSE
  • AgentFuse for making A Golden Opportunity; I studied this mod and GeckWiki extensively to teach myself how to make these quest mods
  • LStewieAL, RoyBatty, and the rest of the xNVSE team for GECK Extender; such a huge QOL improvement for modding in the G.E.C.K.
  • Kormákur for Hot Reload; if you do a lot of scripting in the G.E.C.K., this is a must-have
  • Deltoran, for making Raider Faction Armor (Disguise); the Speech route for Five-Card Ante wouldn't be possible without this mod
  • Major thanks for letting me port the Disguise script into Five-Card Ante directly!
  • LegionaryH, for making Legion Quests Expanded; LQE heavily inspired me to make these quest mods
