About this mod

A small, vanilla-style Legion quest mod that serves as a substitute for Back In Your Own Backyard. Talk to Dead Sea in Nelson about ending the stalemate with Ranger Milo. You can complete this quest with straightforward combat, or through a variety of skills/one perk.

NOTE: This quest mod has now been merged into my Legion Quest compilation!

You Go To My Head

In the vanilla game, Back In Your Own Backyard is a good quest with a variety of options to complete it, but not in favour of the Legion.

Ranger Milo is willing to get his hands dirty (and encourages the player to as well). In my mind, sacrificing those 3 soldiers on the crucifixes in order to kill Dead Sea is completely within options he's willing to not only consider, but execute (in my opinion).

Dead Sea should know this, and by providence of the player's arrival in Nelson, ought to get the Courier to kill Milo and his goons while the odds are still in his favour.

Enter You Go To My Head; kill Ranger Milo and his two soldier buds at the checkpoint with straightforward combat or (partially) via skill checks.

Note: This mod is completely unvoiced, so use xVASynth yourself to generate
audio and their corresponding `.lip` files if you want them to have
voices.

How To Start The Quest
Simply travel to Nelson and talk to Dead Sea. The dialogue option should be labelled "You seem pretty pinned here, do you need any assistance?" to start the quest.

Requirements:

Compendium of Avenues to Kill Ranger Milo and Co.

  • Medicine: Pass a check of 60, and use 3 Psycho (per soldier), to induce a rage-induced frenzy in the troopers and send them after Milo
  • They most likely will die first, but they can serve as a distraction while you kill Milo and co. yourself
  • Their health will be boosted significantly, as well as raising their Strength and Endurance
  • Explosives AND Sneak: Passing a check of 50 (for Explosives AND Sneak simultaneously) will plant a bomb on the troopers and will detonate when they get to the checkpoint
  • Strength/Terrifying Presence: Either have the Terrifying Presence perk, or a Strength of at least 9, to intimidate the delirious soldiers into attacking Milo
  • Straight-Forward Combat

Credits:

  • Obsidian, for making one of the best games ever made
  • The entire xNVSE team in general, the impact of their hard work on the F:NV modding community cannot be overstated
  • JazzIsParis and LuthienAnarion for JIP LN; certain functions from that mod are incredibly useful
  • AgentFuse for making A Golden Opportunity; I studied this mod and GeckWiki extensively to teach myself how to make a mod in the G.E.C.K.
  • LStewieAL, RoyBatty, and the rest of the xNVSE team for GECK Extender; such a huge QOL improvement for modding in the G.E.C.K.
  • Kormákur for Hot Reload; if you do a lot of scripting in the G.E.C.K., this is a must-have
  • LegionaryH, for making Legion Quests Expanded; LQE heavily inspired this mod, and my other Legion quest mods, Five-Card Ante, and Yes, I Would, Actually

My Other Quest (and adjacent) Mods
  • Five-Card Ante, a Legion Quest mod that exploits the structure of Three Card Bounty to facilitate a mission to kill First Recon.
  • Yes I Would, Actually, a Legion Quest mod that modifies the Bitter Springs trifecta of quests to allow a Legion option for each.
  • Disable Ranger Civilian and Veteran Respawns, an experimental ScriptRunner mod that prevents Rangers at the Ranger Stations from respawning. Complements Legion Quests Expanded nicely when doing Long Distance Call
