Derek is a cut content NPC with almost no information detailing his original intent, save for his wiki article indicating he may have been a raider due to his raider clothing. Much like Arnie, his NPC (Actor) data paints a different picture:
Again, as with Arnie, this could simply mean that he was cut before his raider data could be added. But there are two more interesting tidbits in his records:
As such, I've leaned into these points, but with a catch; namely, there are two versions.
Main Version
Derek is a Diamond City security guard charged with keeping an eye on the city crop field, and if left to his own devices, that's where he'll spend the rest of his days. However...
Add-On File (requires rlbaxter's RL_Recruit_Framework)
He's bored and hates his job. He's heard about a new face in town--a vault dweller--who has been setting up communities all over the Commonwealth. Maybe that vault dweller is his ticket out. Even if he ends up guarding crops on some farm in the middle of nowhere, at least he might see some real action.
Compatibility
I "rebuilt" Derek with a new base record to avoid conflicts with other mods that may have repurposed his vanilla record. Also, if you're using mods that make changes to DC previsbine data, make sure Derek loads before them.

- He is not hostile.
- He uses a generic NPC voice type instead of a raider voice type.
- He has no raider faction affiliation.

- He has Diamond City faction affiliation.
- He has "Security Guard" as his class, which is used only by Diamond City guards and Vault 81 guards.
