What is Blocking Overhaul?
The main purpose of Blocking Overhaul is to change the way blocking works in Fallout 4. Previously, players could block attacks from all enemies, but this mod alters that behavior. The primary change is that attacks from certain powerful enemies, such as Deathclaws, Super Mutant Behemoths, and Mirelurk Queens, can no longer be blocked at all. These monsters are so terrifying and formidable that blocking their attacks is no longer an option.

These changes apply to the Player AND NPCs

Vanilla Blocking

Blocking Overhaul

Additionally, the mod introduces different levels of damage reduction for blocking attacks from various enemies:

100% damage reduction: This level allows you/NPCs to block melee attacks from human enemies entirely, meaning you/NPCs take no damage from their blocked attacks.
75% damage reduction: Blocking melee attacks from Mirelurks will only reduce the damage you/NPCs take by 75%.
50% damage reduction: For stronger enemies like Super Mutants, you/NPCs can only block half of the damage from their attacks.
25% damage reduction: Blocking attacks from even stronger enemies like Yao Guai (the cute mutated bears) will only reduce the damage by 25%.

You/NPCs can block melee attacks from human enemies to 100%

If the enemy is a Mirelurk, it's only possible to block 75%
Stronger enemies, like Super Mutant can only be blocked to 50%
Even stronger enemies like Yao Guai can only be blocked to 25%

The most terrifying monsters like Deathclaws, Super Mutant Behemoths, or Mirelurk Queens cannot be blocked.
Overall, Blocking Overhaul aims to make the game's blocking mechanics more challenging and realistic by limiting the player's ability to block attacks from particularly formidable foes.

Vanilla Blocking

Blocking Overhaul

Features
MCM features several options for you to play around and configure!
You can also switch between the new blocking system and vanilla.

Blocking Costs Action Points
Attacks you block now cost action points. Here are some example costs:
Blocking unarmed attacks cost 15 Action Points
Blocking Melee 1H attacks cost 20 Action Points
Blocking Melee 2H attacks cost 30 Action Points

Blocking Strong attacks cost 60 Action Points (Strong attacks, are attacks that block less than 100% damage)

NPCs also have to use Action Points to block incoming attacks from you or other NPCs

Block Thresholds
You can set several Action Points Thresholds, depending on the incoming damage source. For example if you have 19 or less action points, you can no longer block the attacks from Melee unarmed/1h/2h.

Block Thresholds also apply to NPCs.

Recoil
Recoil are known from the vanilla blocking system. When you block an enemy, they are forced into a recoil animation or you, when your melee attack gets blocked by a NPC. Blocking Overhaul removes that animation and reimplements this animation in a more realistic way.
If you block an attack, which is a strong attack, your character recoils, because of the force of the attack.
Blocking Power attacks, can also cause recoil (can be disabled with MCM)

Recoil also affects NPCs.

When you block, and having less Action Points than the block threshold, attacks become unblockable, cause you to recoil and will damage you.

Requirements & Compatibility
This mod requires RobCo Patcher and Address Library for F4SE Plugins

RobCo Patcher makes sure, that the new Blocking System is automatically applied to all NPCs, this also includes NPCs added by other mods.

If you are using Better Locational Damage make sure to disable BLDs blocking system in MCM. This will soon be disabled in BLD by default.

Game Configuration Menu
GCM allows you easily set many game settings without the need of additional ESPs or console commands. It's awesome.

Survival Configuration Menu
Features a brand new eat and drink system, which relies on weight of the item
instead of the caps value and allows you to control it. In addition to
that, you can tweak many aspects of the survival added features. Like
tweaking disease chance, disabling Adrenaline. Choose how long you can
maximally sleep on the different bet types. And more.

Complex Vendors
Known from Skyrim and other games, many vendors are restricted. You can't
sell everything to anyone. This also prevents the player from piling up
currency. This mod applies several restrictions to several NPCs. For
example, a doctor can only buy and sell chem related items. But there
are still some stores, where you can dump everything.
