About this mod

This is a rebalanced and fixed version of the Simple Needs Expanded by Clockmon, who created his mod based on working with the original Simple Needs mod from Treb.
In the current version of the mod, a bug with the texture of the scotch bottle has been fixed and changes have been made to the characteristics of water, food and chems.

First, I’d like to thank the modders Treb and Clockmon for their work. In my opinion, their efforts successfully brought a hardcore survival mode to Fallout 3, similar to what we saw in New Vegas and Fallout 4. The addition of basic needs mechanics was something the original game had always lacked.

Unfortunately, Simple Needs Expanded contained a minor error—a missing texture for one of its items. Clockmon, the mod’s author, stated on the forum that they no longer maintain the project. I decided to fix this issue and, while at it, make some balance adjustments to improve the experience.

I’d like to clarify that I received permission from Treb—creator of the original Simple Needs mod—to work on this. As noted in the "Permissions and Credits" section of Simple Needs Expanded: "Be sure to contact Treb before making modifications. No need to contact me (Clockmon)."

War… War never changes.

What does this mod do?:
  • fixes a bug with a missing scotch bottle texture in the mod "Simple Needs Expanded";
  • the properties of water and food have been edited: the treatment of food and water has been significantly reduced. Added some short-term bonuses for expensive food;
  • water sources like fountains, sinks and fire hydrants will no longer magically heal you (only the purest water will heal some hp and temporarily add action points);
  • sources with bad water will affect you with radiation for longer;
  • the cost, properties and duration of action of many chemicals have been changed (for example: Stimpacks will heal within 30 seconds, their price has been increased 10 times).

Requirements:

Installation:
  • download and install with your Mod Manager the original mod Simple Needs by Treb,
  • then install "Simple Needs Expanded" by Clockmon,
  • then download the file (mod) with my corrections and replace "Simple Needs Expanded.esm",
  • If for some reason you don't like the changes made by me, just delete my file and then install "Simple Needs Expanded" by Clockmon.
