If you're the kind of the gamer who always likes to look back at old trailers and old concept arts like me, you may remember seeing the Subdermal Armor in action in the 2013 Teaser Trailer and the 2018 E3 Trailer. I've always liked the idea of the Subdermal Armor implant in the Cyberpunk series. By injecting themselves with nanites and by having armor implanted under the skin, a cyberpunk can take a bullet to the face and only come out looking annoyed. If you saw these scenes in the trailers and thought you wanted to build a cybernetic Luke Cage in the dark future, then this is the mod for you.

The Subdermal Armor in Cyberpunk has one major problem that I'm actually surprised they haven't fixed yet by this point. Unlike other cyberware in the game, none of the Subdermal Armors have a Level or a Stat requirement. At Level 1, with 0 Street Cred, and with 3 in every Attribute, you can install ALL VARIANTS of Subdermal Armor from Normal-Legendary. But unlike all the cyberweapons V uses, the Subdermal Armor NEVER SCALES TO THE PLAYER'S LEVEL. From Level 1 to Level 50, the Legendary Subdermal Armor will always provide 200 armour. By the time you get past ~Level 10, the 200 armour this item gives you is so low that you're actually better off swapping this out for something else entirely and not using it at all.

By creating a basic script for the Cyber Engine Tweaks mod, I managed to change all armour values for all variants of the Subdermal Armor as follows:
  • Common: 300
  • Uncommon: 600
  • Rare: 900
  • Epic: 1200
  • Legendary: 1500

DETAILS

This is a mod I made a long time back near the time I came back to Cyberpunk 2077 around Patch 1.3. I was thinking about uploading this to the Nexus back then, but I never got around to it. This is a very basic script that changes the in-game armour values for the Subdermal Armor cyberware. Now, IF YOU'RE THE TYPE OF PLAYER WHO CARES ABOUT BALANCE, READ THE NEXT SECTION:



INSTRUCTIONS & USAGE

INSTALLATION:
  • As stated above, this mod uses Cyber Engine Tweaks to run the script. YOU MUST DOWNLOAD & INSTALL CET before using this mod.
  • Copy the entire "bin" folder directly into your Cyberpunk 2077 directory (the folder structure is already taken care of - just drag it into your CP directory)

***MAKE SURE YOU'VE INSTALLED THE LATEST CET - CP2077 UPDATES ALWAYS DISABLE OLDER CET VERSIONS + CET MODS***

Obviously, this can affect the balance of the game by giving you more armour. I made this mod to suit my personal playstyle at the time, so your experience may be different than mine if you install this mod: 
  • I tended to use V's starting gear instead of actual armour. I also tend to play without equipping headgear or chest armour.
  • I also made and tested this mod with other mods installed like Level Scaling and BalanceFull Armor Rebalance, and Full Weapon Rebalance to make enemies stronger + armour weaker.
  • The mod's original goal was to let you feel bulletproof when armour was nerfed and when enemies did more damage while also making the Subdermal Armor actually worth using

Patch 1.5 partially obviates the need for the mods I mentioned - making enemies stronger + armour weaker. The same effect still partially remains. But again, this mod gives you more armour. If you're worried about the balance of your game, USE YOUR OWN DISCRETION AS TO WHETHER THIS WORKS FOR YOU.

PATCH 1.5 VERSION

I've since made an alternate version tailored for Patch 1.5. Taking the maximum Level 50 armour values for Head, Face, Chest, Inner, Legs, AND Feet armour into account, I've given Subdermal Armour the following values:
  • Common: 150
  • Uncommon: 250
  • Rare: 400
  • Epic: 550
  • Legendary: 700
