Summary
A simple mod that makes the rain particles look more realistic.
  • Added more density to heavy rain so it actually looks heavy.
  • Made the rain drops smaller and slightly more transparent so they look less like ice needles and more like rain drops, especially when in motion.
  • NOTE: There are essentially two main rain effects in the game: 1) those close to Geralt, 2) and those that can be seen farther away. This mod does NOT affect the rain drops that drop close to Geralt, as the files that modify those are elsewhere and a bit more complicated. As such, close rain drops will still retain their vanilla size. This mod only affects distant rain fall, by making those drops smaller and adding more density to them.

  • V1 - Has the default transparency levels. Heavy rain drops will be easier to see during the day, but will look brighter at night.
  • V2 - Has 20% more transparency than V1. Heavy rain drops will be a bit harder to see during the day, but will look less brighter than V1 at night.
  • V3 - Has 20% more tansparency, same as V2, but modifies more files. Modifies rain drop animation textures so that overall drop sizes are smaller than before. Reduced size of all water drop files as much as possible without sacrificing visibility. Harder visibility than V2 during the day, but drops are even smaller than before. (This is the version I'm using currently)

**REMINDER: You should test it yourself as the rain looks much better in motion than in still images**

Installation

  • Unzip folder and place the mod into your The Witcher 3/mods folder. If you do not have a "mods" folder, create one.
  • Works with all lighting/weather mods. Just give this mod higher priority. Don't worry about messing up anything in the lighting/weather mods, since it's just a simple texture edit.
