.: Overview :.

Hair Grow is a simple framework that allows you to give your character up to 5 hairstyles, beards or body paint overlays. They change over time, so you can use these extra hair slots to simulate, for example, the growth of hair. If you so prefer, it's possible to disable this "changing" feature and use Hair Grow as a limited and more immersive character editor only. In any case, you can approach innkeepers, servers, your housecarls and your spouse to ask for a haircut.

.: Features :.

  • Set how long it takes for each hair to grow independently.
  • Set how much innkeepers and servers charge to cut each hair.
  • Plugin flagged as light.

Planned
  • Scissors and razor
  • Dyeing and styling
  • Support .json storage
  • More hair slots
  • Remove gender restrictions

.: Requirements :.

Skyrim Script Extender (SKSE)
SkyUI
RaceMenu is required if you decide to use overlays.

.: Compatibility :.

Incompatible with mods that change your character's hair back and forth, such as Let Your Hair Down (LYHD) and a couple of my own mods.

.: Installation :.

  • Install the main file as usual.
  • (Optional) Install a variety of hairstyles, beards (male) or overlay textures (female).
  • Load your game and enter Hair Grow MCM.
  • Set 'Growth Time' and 'Service Charge' as you want.
    - For the best experience, stick with time values that are multiple of 24.
    - You can play around with lower values to test before commiting to use the mod.
  • Leave MCM.
  • Define each hair, as requested by the message windows.
    - Male characters can define one hair and one beard at a time.
    - Female characters can set all overlays at once, at any point.
  • To start it up, either take a nap or ask a NPC for a haircut.

Tips
  • You can use an image editor to combine multiple overlay parts (armpits, pubes, etc.) into a single full body texture file.
  • If you don't want to use all slots, simply repeat a hairstyle and pretend that those slots don't exist.

.: Usage :.

Anytime your character goes to sleep after a pre-defined interval has passed, their hair grows by one step.

Getting a haircut
  • Approach an innkeeper or server in business hours (08h-20h) and ask them for a haircut.
    - Ask a housecarl or spouse at any time and they will do the following for free.
  • As long as you have the coin, these are the options to choose from:
    - Body hair only (female)
    - Beard only (male)
    - Hair only
    - Full
    - Random
  • For each requested hair, a menu will popup in which you can define a haircut.
  • After that, the screen fades to black and your character hair is changed.

.: Known Issues :.

  • You might have to reload your save after installation to see haircut dialogue lines.
  • After any slot is redefined, MCM page needs to be refreshed. Hover over any entry and hit 'R' key to update info.
  • Menus won't match your character's current hair if you don't sleep before asking for the first haircut.
  • Vampires can't grow hair or get a haircut. All features must be turned off in MCM while your character is a vampire.
