About this mod

Have you ever wanted to install "RS Children Overhaul" but were intimidated by the Mod's Bug Page (44 and 77!)?
Well if so, then this mod('s fix) is for you!

Welcome to the Child West...

OVERALL INTENT OF THE MOD
Fixes RS Children's issues which can arise throughout the game. It simply ensures all Data being loaded is intended and not lost in transit.

If you haven't already guessed based on the Brief Overview and the general direction of my mods, this is a fix for the highly popular and somehow lightweight mod "RS Children Overhaul." Just the words lightweight and overhaul in the same sentence is a mind boggle in and of itself. But I digress.

NOTE: Because of the way Skyrim works, "RS Children -- RKR --" might need to be run again on a New Game. This is due to how Skyrim bakes values at the start. If you do not have a secondary Overhaul mod that you're replacing with this, you should be able to add it mid-game. Skyrim will always default back to its Root Directory and Last Root Plugin to avoid the "Dark Face Bug." However, if a mod is introduced then removed/replaced, its data gets scattered because of it. It is not easily replaceable. The only way to reset it is with a New Game. Also any flags, packages, etc. are not added in and can only apply upon New Game. However, this data can still be removed causing issues for any code attempting to use it. Please bear that in mind when "updating."

INSTALLATION
Simply download and either A. Install as New Mod or B. Overwrite/Merge (DO NOT REPLACE) into the Original Mod

NOTE: Installing as "New Mod" is the better option but can cause CTDs if another loose texture folder for RS Children is detected.
The best way to combat this is to temporarily hide/rename the FACEGEN Folder of the Old One so this one takes precedence.
However, if you do not have a loose texture folder, then this mod can safely be downloaded as a new one and tested to ensure it works as intended first.
The same goes for plugins, but that one can easily be placed in a Temp folder or renamed to something else and disabled.

COMPATIBILITY
The following Mods are Compatible:
NOTE: While a Bash/Smash/Mish-Mash Patch isn't required, it would help sort out the most common info and conflicts into a single record
NOTE 2: Just because a Patch is compatible with the Main Plugin won't mean they're all compatible together. Use caution when merging.

INCOMPATIBILITY
The followings Mods are Incompatible (For the Moment):
NOTE: If you feel that any of these are essential to your playthrough, try it out to ensure it works. This is not the end-all be-all for using them.

- ALL Translation Mods
This is because, well, I don't know those languages that much. For it to work, the original Translator would have to transfer my changes over to theirs.

QUASIPC - Qwinn's Unified Automated Self Installing Patch Compendium
Unable to check Plugin(s). The sheer amount and quantity involved makes it difficult to test.

RS Children Patch Compendium
Unable to check Plugin(s). Same reason as stated above.

RS Children-Treva's Watch Reclaimed-Patch
Unable to check Plugin. The Actual Mod that this depends on is no longer available.

- RS Elven and Beast Children
This is a Stand-Alone Mod that took on its own approach instead. Using both will do more harm than good. Only use that one w/ its own patches.
If you need an example: Its Two Plugins fighting for custody over the Child and its belongings. That's literally what this can be described as.

Society Must Be Protected (SMBP)
Unable to check Plugin. Too many requirements to even get the Plugin to show.

SO WHAT IS IT DOES THIS MOD DO EXACTLY?
I'm glad you asked, sentient line of text! Here's just about everything this mod does that I can remember:

- Modular Plugin Structured Hierarchy
Spoiler:
Show
This is a fancy way of basically saying all (or just about) of the Custom Assets and such are all relegated to the Main Base Plugin (RSChildren.esm) and the Records that those assets overwrite are then transferred over into the Deployment Plugin (RSChildren.esp). Because of this sorting method, a lot of the records that would previously be overwritten due to Low Load Order are now able to be properly placed as the custom slot your Mod Order needs.
No more wondering why your game has weird visual glitches due to Conflicting Records. Needless Overwrites are now a thing of the past!*
*Needless Overwrites are not a thing of the past and can still result due to a number of issues.

- Updated and Improved Clothing Behavior (Not Physics)
Spoiler:
Show
Have you ever walked around Skyrim hoping to see your new Overhaul in action? You walked into Whiterun, the closest city you have regardless of where you start, ignored Nazeem, entered the Marketplace, when you notice something out of the corner of your eye: Two Kids running around chasing each other.
So you follow after them to see how they'll finally look compared to Vanilla. You track them down, wait for them to stop, and check your results.
And lo and behold there they are. Their Custom-Designed faces that rival any nearby NPC. It's perfect. Only one problem... They're not wearing clothes.
Well, drop that hammer and board and get away from that door because the FBI are not breaking into your house today! Now all kids, regardless of who unless they're newly added mods with mod-centric clothing, will always have their clothes on NO MATTER WHAT. You can safely turn your monitor back on!

- Newly Exported/Updated Textures/Meshes
Spoiler:
Show
This one was a bit of a challenge at first since I initially did it when I had little to no knowledge of CK or modding in general. But now after a while of of trial-and-error, I was finally able to successfully export the models complete with every asset they could attain. Some were not co-operating and outright CTD'd. This was because of a few issues that the face seemed to have. The most notable was an export relying on old data which the new one didn't have. So instead of trying to surgically stitch every version together. I just re-exported the NPCs to match the new info given to them in the latest version.
Yeah, science!

- Removed Redundant or Outdated Records from Iterations of Old Mods
Spoiler:
Show
You all probably remember the infamous "Infinite Loading Screen Bug" which plagued the mod for many months/a year. Well that entire fiasco was due to a single change in an unrelated mod that this mod relied on: a Package. What that meant is the NPC Record had an entry for a Package which either had its FormID changed, or no longer exists. Because of that, the resulting entry became "Error cannot be resolved: FormID Record not found." I don't know about you, but I don't remember any Package being called that. Maybe NULL but that's better than nothing. It literally is. Anyway, all those are gone now! I hope...

- Small Value Record Edits
Spoiler:
Show
This is the last and probably the least significant change of the bunch. It simply just updates the Red Numbers with more better values that the game can better utilize. That's pretty much it. It doesn't sound like much, but it helps a lot when the Engine needs a value that can delimit itself.

And that's pretty much all there is to it. There may be some drawbacks, possibly new issues that even arise out of this one
(Please don't make a Bug Page 3.0. I'm scared to even see or manage that.). But a lot of the old ones should pretty much be gone and/or isolated.

So if you were on the fence about downloading "RS Children Overhaul" but desperately want to see it in action, now is your time to try!
