About this mod

Makes the BoS less of a joke late game by scaling all BoS Combat NPCs to the player level while also giving them native damage and energy resistances, and a buff to base HP . Also adds in BoS exclusive armor and weapons.

Changelogs
tl;dr Boosts all BoS combat NPCs, making them scale to player level and also boosting their HP by quite a bit. Also adds in BoS exclusive armor and weaponry. Removes the ability for a player to pickpocket the fusion cores all BoS PA users. For compatibility, see bottom of page.

UPDATE: So I found out what was causing the CTDs and have removed those parts of the mod. Anyone who has a previous version will need to download the current version to avoid the CTDs. For a more detailed list of what I removed, check the changelog.

I still remember the first time I saw the BoS in Fallout 4. I had just finished off Kellog at level 15, so it was quite a hellish fight. I come out to the roof of Fort Hagen and I see this giant airship go by, dropping off vertibirds left right and center.  Next thing I know, I am wandering back to Diamond City to talk to Piper, when I get ambushed by a gang of Super Mutants near the entrance. Right as I'm about to run for it, a vertibird comes in, drops off two Knights, and then flies off. The knights proceed to slaughter the mutants seemingly with ease, and then walk away. Quite a first impression.

However as the game progressed and I started to get stronger, the BoS became less and less impressive, until finally they were unable to keep up with the scaling NPCs from normal encounters. Vertibirds were shot down within seconds, patrols just slaughtered brutally by gunners, mutants, raiders, almost anything with a gun. To say nothing of what the institute synths did to them.  And after I did Mass Fusion, those BoS patrols that I used to follow around for protection became my enemies, but even I found them easy prey.

Well no more. This mod takes the BoS and brings them better in line with what you'd expect from a powerful late game faction.  There are a lot of changes made, so bear with me here. As an added note, there are two variants to this mod. A "Normal" version, in which does everything listed below, and then a "Hardcore" version, which makes the BoS even stronger.

NPCs
First and foremost, all BoS combat NPCs (as in NPCs that are likely to experience combat at some point) and story NPCs have been set to scale with the player's level. In some cases, they scale much higher (Maxson is set to scale to 1.5x the players level), but with most they will at least match the player level. Also all combat NPCs have had their base HP increased by a good 300% (some by significantly more, especially vertibirds).

Vertibirds have been buffed significantly. They have had their HP increased by massive amounts, and have also had their weaponry and
damage resistances increased. This should reduce their "glass cannon" aspect and actually allow them to do something other than fly around, make lots of noise, then explode in a giant fireball.

Lastly, all BoS NPCs now have base damage resistances, more specifically ballistic and energy. The higher level NPCs will naturally have higher resistances, but even the lower ones still have decent bonuses.

Equipment and Gear
I adjusted the levelled lists so now ALL BoS NPCs that would use combat armor have full sets. That was one thing that always annoyed me. The BoS has all these supplies, all these resources, but they can't be bothered to fully outfit their soldiers in the field. That's no longer the case. If you see a BoS soldier wearing some form of Combat Armor, know that they will likely have a full set, including a helmet. There are a few scripted ones that I couldn't add helmets to, but for the most part, all of them will come fully geared and equipped.

Secondly, all of the set high ranking BoS soldiers you'll encounter (Paladins, Paladin Commanders, Star Paladins), will have special combat armor and BoS uniform variants equipped. These variants are much stronger than regular combat armor and are all of the heavy variant, and the uniform gives almost as much defense as a ballistic weave clothing item. They're also all much lighter than regular Heavy Combat Armor. However, there's a catch. You cannot modify these armor pieces in any way. There is no Misc option, no legendary option, nothing. The full set of BoS Heavy Armor will provide 250 DR, ER, Rad, and Poison resistance though. A fair trade-off I think.

Lastly, I did make some minor buffs to the BoS gear. This includes the BoS Uniform, Scribe gear (all of it), engineer gear, etc. Basically anything that the BoS uses armor wise has been buffed. Not insanely, but it provides some protection from the commonwealth now. The BoS material for combat armor increases damage and energy resistance by a small amount now in addition to the added radiation resistance.

Power Armor
I made quite a lot of changes in this department, but they're easily summarized.  NPCs will mostly match their armor type with their rank (there were a few NPC encounters that despite everything I did I couldn't set them to actually follow their ranks, they always have the BOS II T-60b variants, sorry).

One of the biggest changes I made was that you can now no longer steal the Fusion Cores from ANY equipped BoS Power Armors Frames. You have to either shoot them out (which still may not work), or kill the NPC. This goes for patrolling knights, airport guards, enemies at Mass Fusion, etc etc.

Lastly, Elder Maxson will now be in Power Armor for most of the game. It always struck me as odd that the leader of the Brotherhood would be running around in a rather weakly armored jacket. Well now he will use the full set of T-60f you always see him in during the last mission for the Institute.

On a final note here, all power armor will deteriorate at an 80% reduced rate. This will allow for the BoS soldiers in Power Armor to keep their armor for longer during heavy combat. I was unable to find a way to separate this, so that reduced deterioration carries over to anyone and everyone in a Power Armor frame.

Weaponry
Last but not least, we have the weapon adjustments. The original Brotherhood used stock laser weapons, laser gatlings, and miniguns. As weapons go, they're not bad (except for the minigun, I have no illusions to how terrible that weapon is), but it seemed rather lackluster considering all the resources they supposedly have at their disposal, especially after the destruction of the Enclave. So now BoS members will use a special laser variant called a "Brotherhood Enhanced Laser". It's base energy damage has been reduced by 12%, but it now gains a small bonus to ballistic damage, and all of the weapon modifications have been enhanced, mostly in the weight category, and some of them in effectiveness as well. Most notably there are end-game level barrels, capacitors, and stocks. This will result in a laser weapon that has roughly 40% more damage at end game, in some cases significantly more.

Secondly, all Brotherhood forces that use miniguns will now use a special Heavy Minigun, that does 4x the damage of a regular minigun, but unfortunately for the player, cannot be looted on death. Also, like stated earlier, the weapons on the Vertibirds have been buffed significantly.

Vendors and Everything Left
I made some small adjustments to a few other items related to the BoS. The X-111 compound has been adjusted to completely remove ALL rads when you take it, and has had it's weight reduced to be equivalent to Rad-Away. However, I didn't touch anything else. As Vendors go, Proctor Teagan has had his lists adjusted slightly. He now sells the grey-green variant of the BoS uniform, in addition to the special BoS Laser variant. He no longer sells the ugly orange jumpsuit, but everything else should be more or less the same.

Hardcore Version
So what this version does is makes all BoS NPCs even stronger. It buffs their base HP by a massive amount, in addition to an increase in the base damage and energy resistances. Adding on to that, all secondary BoS armors (fatigues, scribe gear, engineer gear) now give a much larger bonus to damage and energy resistances. Vertibirds gain even MORE HP and armor, and all Power Armor class enemies gain bonus damage perks. Designed for hardcore BoS enthusiasts, or those who want a challenge when the BoS becomes your enemy. In order to download, you need to go to the files tab and download from there. Normal version is set as the default NMM file. ONLY CHOOSE ONE OR THE OTHER!

Compatibility
This mod directly modifies the records for almost every BoS NPC, and also modifies the levelled lists for all of those NPCs and Vendors. So any other BoS overhaul/enhancement will likely conflict with this mod. I made the custom BoS laser from the ground up (as in all of it's mods and the weapon itself don't share any critical keywords with regular lasers), it shouldn't interfere with any mods that change lasers.

Enjoy the mod!

I would like to add special thanks to MrTroubleMaker for allowing me to use his recoil stock model for my weapons. Feel free to check out his page and his mods, some of them are really awesome! The ones I use personally are Laser and Plasma Weapon Power Mods and Suppressors and Vault 88 - Restored Lighting - Rad Scanners - Turrets.
