About this mod

This playlist for Dynamic Music is for those who appreciate an atmosphere close to realism : background ambient sounds, music only in places where musicians could play, like at taverns or castles. And a musical distinction between North and South.

Changelogs
Appreciating the work of numidium3rd and his Dynamic Music mod, I decided to add my own personal touch.
Concerning the ambient sounds, I am a user of Environmental Ambience (from MizterMoonshine), so I highly recommend it for immersion.

Mainly, I added ambient sounds and music for taverns and castles, a "populated" atmosphere for big cities, and sounds for some shops like bookstores, alchemists, etc.

You will hear:
- Lively discussions and music at the Warriors Guild
- Whispers and turning pages at the library
- Small bubbles at the alchemist's
- The impact on the anvil at the armorer's
- Music, or not, at the tavern
- etc

To give you an idea :

Currently, here are the places with new sounds. Obviously, they may change with updates or according to your suggestions :
  • Alchemist (changed in v1.1)
  • Archaeologists Guild (added in v1.1)
  • Armorer
  • Bookstore
  • Castle
  • Library
  • Cities [North / South] (big sized towns)
  • Hamlets (mid sized towns) (added in v1.1)
  • Mages Guild
  • Natural caves
  • Prison
  • Shops / General Stores (added in v1.1)
  • Swamps
  • Taverns (North / South)
  • Temple
  • Warriors Guild (North / South)

In future updates, I would like to add ambient sounds for:
  • Palaces (mansions)
  • Desert biome (day and night)
  • Village
  • Other shops (jeweler, I think it's the last store I must to do)
  • Thieves Guild
  • Dark Brotherhood
  • Classic houses
  • Different music depending on the quality of the tavern. Less refined in lower quality taverns.

The Dynamic Music mod is obviously necessary.

The Environmental Ambiance mod is also necessary (in my opinion), because without it, you will hear the original music of the game in all the places that I did not edit (like, in the small towns).

If you want the original music of the game and the environmental sounds, use the mod Vanilla music plus Environmental Ambience for Dynamic Music from allybatman13, which will mix the original music of the game and the ambient sounds of Environmental Ambiance. Our mods seems to be compatibles.

Good to know :
  • Sometimes there won't be any music, just people talking : musicians don't work 24/7.
  • The impact sound of the anvil may be out of sync with the movements of the blacksmith : I can't do anything about it, I timed the sound on the blacksmith's animation, but sometimes it gets out of sync. Just exit the armorer's and everything will be back to normal. I'm a DREAM user, I timed the blacksmith on their sprites, I hope it's ok for non-DREAM users.

How to install :
Just paste the "StreamingAssets" folder in your Daggerfall\dfu_windows_64bit-v1.1.1\DaggerfallUnity_Data folder.
Inside the folder StreamingAssets\Sound\DynMusic, you will find a "UserDefined.txt" file : use mine : when asked, erase the ancient.
  • Another mod editing this file will need some edit to merge them.
