  • Loot Destruction

    NOTE: Loot Destruction is now Disabled by default in AWOP v6.0+

    Various AWOP NPCs wear self-destruct devices (Tech Raider Collar) so that if you kill them you can't get their best stuff. When they die they may disintegrate, catch on fire, etc ... and their special armor and weaponry will no longer be there ... it gets destroyed. The basic idea is to remove potentially overly-powerful gear from appearing in the game too soon as well as minimize general availability.

    People who do not care for that feature can install Mod Configuration Menu (MCM) and New Vegas Script Extender (NVSE) to disable the option. Alternatively, disable the setting using Console Mode commands.

    press ~ to enter Console Mode

  • Merged Patch Creation

    NOTE: this article provides instructions for creating a "Merged Patch" using the FNVEdit program.  For other methods and tools, you will need to look elsewhere.

    A "merged patch" ensures that the game's internal lists are properly updated when new mods are installed.  For example: updating the Shotgun Surgeon perk to take advantage of a new shotgun provided by a weapon mod.  The patch should be rebuilt/updated whenever the collection of installed mods is altered.

    WARNING: do not trust a YouTube video unless it includes setting Sort FLST in FNVEdit's Experts tab.

    Here are the steps for doing that by using the FNVEdit modding tool (courtesy of Antistar):

     -  Delete any existing merged patch.

     -  Go to this link and acquir...

  • Fallout Character Overhaul

    To use FCO with AWOP ... only select the "clean teeth" ( Teeth Textures / Clean Textures ) option when installing FCO. Do not select any other options. Do not install any other mods or patches that change NPC body or face appearance. FCO with "clean teeth" is the *only* supported install for AWOP and AWOP's patch for FCO.

    1 ) Install NVSE  ( if not already installed -- FCO requires it )

    2 ) Install UIO  ( if not already installed -- FCO requires it )

    3 ) Install FCO v3.0  ( select *only* Clean Textures for Teeth Textures -- do *not* select other options )

    4 ) Install FCO v3.1  ( allow all files to be replaced )

    5 ) Install our compatibility patch for FCO v3 using our AWOP Compatibility Patches download

  • AWOP Optional Plugins

    The "Low Loot Merged" option (AWOPLowLootAll.esp) is a merger of all the "Low Loot" patches into a single patch.  It includes Low Loot General, Low Loot Mk II Weapons, Low Loot Mk II Weapons and Armor, plus Low Loot Skill Books.

    -- "Low Loot General" generally lowers the availability of Ammo, Armor, Weapons, Armor, and general clutter.

    -- "Low Loot Mk II Weapons" removes 95% of Mk II Weapons from AWOP locations.

    -- "Low Loot Mk II Weapons and Armor" removes 95% of Mk II Weapons from AWOP locations as well as all of the Mk II Armor variants.

    -- "Low Loot Skill Books" removes all the skill books from AWOP locations (not magazines though). Do not select this option if you also chose Low Loot Merged, since it is already included in that selectio...

  • Fixing MisMatched Face Issues

    Although AWOP v6.01 and later versions no longer need .INI file edits in order for AWOP's NPCs to have the correct faces and skin tone, other mods may still require them.  In which case here are the edits to be made -- for performance reasons they should be avoided unless absolutely necessary:

    Edit three (3) separate game .ini files ...

    • FALLOUT.INI in the saved games folder
    • FalloutPrefs.ini in the saved games folder
    • Fallout_default.ini in the game's install folder where FalloutNV.exe is located

    Change this entry in each .ini file:

    bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=0

    To be this instead:

    bLoadFaceGenHeadEGTFiles=1

    It is usually located near the bottom of the section of each file, just befo...
