Fallout New Vegas

NOTE: Loot Destruction is now Disabled by default in AWOP v6.0+

Various AWOP NPCs wear self-destruct devices (Tech Raider Collar) so that if you kill them you can't get their best stuff. When they die they may disintegrate, catch on fire, etc ... and their special armor and weaponry will no longer be there ... it gets destroyed. The basic idea is to remove potentially overly-powerful gear from appearing in the game too soon as well as minimize general availability.

People who do not care for that feature can install Mod Configuration Menu (MCM) and New Vegas Script Extender (NVSE) to disable the option. Alternatively, disable the setting using Console Mode commands.

Console Mode Commands:

press ~ to enter Console Mode
> show lootdestruct
> set lootdestruct to 0
press ~ to leave Console Mode

MCM with NVSE:

- Download and install NVSE: http://nvse.silverlock.org/

- Download and install MCM: http://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/42507/?

- Run NVSE_Loader.exe to start the game.

- Load a saved game, then press ESC to bring up the "pause menu".

- Click the "Mod Configuration" menu item. If it is absent, then MCM is not yet working properly and the issue must be fixed before proceeding.

- Click "A World Of Pain Loot Destruction".

- Disable "Loot Destruction".

- Create a saved game; it will have loot destruction disabled as will your current play session.

When starting a new character, be sure to adjust the settings before leaving Doc's house for the first time. For existing saved games, disabling the feature will cause collars to be absent on NPCs that have not yet been spawned; existing NPCs will still have visible collars, but inactive.

There are three sub-options that are applicable when Loot Destruction is enabled; otherwise they are ignored:

Harder Disarm [HardDisarm xx07B0B1 ] -- turn on/off the increased difficulty to disarm AWOP NPCs that would have their weapons destructed.

Remove All Items [RemoveAll xx07B0B2] -- turn on/off the destruction of all items upon death of select AWOP NPCs

Pre-Emptive Weapon Removal [PreExplode xx07B0B6] -- turn on/off the destruction of high-end weapons when select AWOP NPCs fall to 30% health or below

"xx" is the load order index for AWOP in your own personal game installs.

To have loot destruction but without the collars, see the A World of Pain (AWOP) - Revisions patch collection. It has a patch to replace the collars with Sunglasses or invisible items.

I actually love this mod...but the loot destruction makes my game almost crash with how many people there are in one interior...that mixed with the energy desintigration effects makes it impossible to fight outside of vats without game freeze lol... all i can say is that i wish there was an optional download that removed collars AND effect without extra mods...it starts getting confusing.

Will turning it off only turn off the effects?

Disables the effects and prevents the destruction of loot (weapons, armor, etc).

When starting a new character, do the listed steps before leaving Doc's house for the first time. None of the NPCs will have collars.

For existing saved games, disabling the feature will cause collars to be absent on NPCs that have not yet been spawned. Existing NPCs will still have visible collars, but inactive; removing them would probably require a bit of clever scripting, or the use of console mode commands when encountering individual NPCs.
