About this mod

More Presets for Swords on the Hip adds several new presets for both swords and the crossbow to be worn on Geralt's body. They are designed to fit well with capes, cloaks, katanas with samurai-style armours, and for mixing different types of weapons! Many hours were spent testing and tweaking these presets to perfection.

THIS 'MOD' REQUIRES SWORDS ON THE HIP TO ALREADY BE INSTALLED.  Do you like to play dress-up with Geralt?  Are you tired of manually tweaking a bunch of coordinates in Swords on the Hip, each time you change Geralt's equipment?  I know I was, so I designed, tested and refined several new presets for better immersion and ease of use.

Now you can quickly fit your weapons to certain armor and accessories, and switch them as often as you like without tedious manual editing.

INSTALLATION:
1. First install SotH by menschfeind13!
It's an excellent mod for customization, but my presets expand your options and ease of use!
2. Unpack my archive to your Witcher 3 installation directory, overwrite existing files (there should be exactly 17 files overwritten).

In addition to the original (unchanged) presets included with Swords on the Hip (aka Carry Your weapons as You Want) by menschfeind13, the following new presets have been added by me:

for Steel & Silver swords:
"caped" - diagonally mounted left side, mostly avoids clipping the NPC cape.
"cloaked" - vertically mounted left side, minimally clips the KM cloak, with some compromises
"samurai" - curved over and horizontally balanced on the left side
"samurai_swapped" same, but with steel on the inside, silver on the outside (see pics)
"exotic" - unique hybrid mounting, looks super cool and works really well for any two dissimilar blades (e.g. 1 straight, 1 curved)

for Crossbow:
"caped" - left-side crossbow hung from the belt is flipped around for a tight fit to match swords also using the "caped" presets
"cloaked" - strapped to Geralt's right hip/leg, this has the tightest fit to the body AND animates smoothly
"samurai" - strapped to Geralt's left thigh, it makes the most sense with Kensei armors (Samurai Attire DLC)
- and a comically absurd bonus setting, if you can figure out how to access it WHICH HAS NOW BEEN UNHIDDEN IN v1.2 ;)

Details:

Caped - designed around the NPC Cape from the Hoods mod.  It also works (slightly less well) with the grey and brown "cloaks" (basically capes) from More Robes, which are a tad wider than NPC Cape. And then there is the !@#$%^& Crach cape (Hoods again), the widest of all capes, it's simply impossible to avoid clipping, but if the wind blows in your favor (or you just keep moving forward), this setting is still your best bet.  To fit with the swords, the "Caped" crossbow has been flipped around completely, trigger-side facing out, handle between the swords and body, and slightly rotated to avoid poking through the cape.

Cloaked - designed around the KM Cloak (Hoods), particularly when wearing heavy "dress" style armor (e.g. ursine).  Works just as well with the Geralt Cloak.  This was the hardest because there is no collision detection between capes and weapons, or skirts and weapons, or even skirts and capes/cloaks!  For example, sometimes the ursine dress clips through the KM cloak, so there's literally no space for a weapon to exist without clipping.  I had to compromise a bunch of things - but I believe this is the best compromise.  If the wind blows in your favor, you'll look fantastic.

Samurai - best used with milckywayy's Cyberpunk 2077 Black Unicorn Katana swords, and/or the CATKATANA and FISHKATANA from Witcher Katanas DLC V1.03

UPDATE!!! Milckywayy has solved the floating scabbards and updated the Demon Slayer Nichirin katanas and Walking Dead Michonne's katanas to work with Swords on the Hip, which means they also now work with MORE PRESETS and I highly endorse them!  YAYYYYYY!!!! (see pics)

As for the crossbow, samurai swords take up space used by the original presets, so I "mounted" it to the front-left leg armor covering the thigh, and looks best with either Samurai Attire DLC Kensei armors (sourced from Ghost of Tsushima), or SAMURAI ARMOR (which seems to be based on Order of the Flaming Rose armor, FYI, and works just as well).

Features:

- Designed & tested with a wide variety of armors, to minimize the appearance of clipping through armor or "floating" unattached (since it's a compromise, you may desire to adjust the 'X' offset of each of the swords +/- one point for a more perfect fit with very slim or very bulky armors).
- All sword and crossbow presets are designed to "fit" together (i.e. all "caped", all "cloaked" or all "samurai" swords + crossbows won't interfere)
- Some swords clip through the backside of their scabbards (a vanilla problem) - I can't fix that, but my presets take this into account and position them so it's hidden from view as much as possible.
- Caped and Cloaked presets (IMO) still look decent even when those accessories are not being worn.  This was not the case in early versions.
- All presets avoid the hilts/guards of normal flat swords from clipping with each other.  All presets EXCEPT Cloaked avoid the hilts/guards of supported samurai swords from clipping with each other, as well.  The Exotic preset avoids clipping between almost* any 2 swords!

Known issues:
- Tips of "Cloaked" swords still clip a little bit:  I know.  Unfortunately there is no actual collision physics between these objects.  Best I can do is place the swords out of the way, within reason.
  • completely vertical looks pretty stupid (and totally ruins the animations, which are already a stretch at their present angle)
  • moving them any further forward makes them look weird when running, or just floating off the body
  • moving them down any further makes them clip through the ground
  • closer to the body clips through bulky armors
  • rotating them around to Geralt's front side makes his leg go right through the swords when he walks
I tried it all, this was the best compromise IMO.
- "samurai" crossbow on the left thigh is really only meant to fit armor(s) from the excellent Samurai Attire DLC.  Technically the end of the handle is clipping into his abdomen when he runs, but because of the sash on that armor, you don't see it happen - out of sight, out of mind.  Other armors, YMMV.  Might I suggest, if you use samurai swords with a slim fitted armor, try the "Cloaked" crossbow setting instead, and try "samurai_swapped" to see if you like that fit better.
- there is no "Exotic" crossbow setting.  I recommend you check out the "Cloaked" crossbow setting even if you aren't wearing a cloak.  It's pretty great.
- *Grandmaster-level steel sword's hilts/guards are obnoxious.  I just wanted to say that.  I recommend any mods which change the T5 steel (or both) Witcher swords
- The vanilla Ofieri and Iris swords have bugged scabbards which float, fortunately there are mods which fix/replace and improve their looks, use them!

v1.0
Adds several new presets for Swords on the Hip by menschfeind13.
Useful for capes, cloaks, katanas/samurai gear and more!

v1.1 some small adjustments and minor fixes, I'm very happy with this version.

v1.2 NEXT-GEN Preset names fixed by adding proper localizations (this version is still good for 1.31/1.32)!  In celebration of The Witcher 3: NG Update, the absurd crossbow setting (which was always hidden in the code) has now been "unleashed".  Try not to die laughing!
