MORE PRESETS FOR SWORDS ON THE HIP - 1.2 by lufusol
Additional Presets for the mod "Swords on the Hip"
Provides fitting customizations for Geralt's on-body weapon positions when using equipment from other popular mods

:: REQUIREMENTS ::
• "Swords on the Hip (aka Carry Your weapons as You Want)" by menschfeind13:
https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/5028

:: MANUAL INSTALLATION :: !DO NOT USE MOD MANAGERS! ::
• First, make sure that "Swords on the Hip (aka Carry Your weapons as You Want)" by menschfiend13 is installed! Then:
• unpack this archive (or drag and drop the folders inside) to your Witcher 3 installation directory, e.g. \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\
• Allow it to overwrite existing files (modAweaponscarrying.xml, plus the localization files).

Troubleshooting:
If it does NOT prompt you to overwrite files, then you either did not install Swords On The Hip first, or you unpacked my archive to the wrong folder. Try again :D
You can use W3MM to install Swords on the Hip, but install mine manually. W3MM doesn't like to overwrite existing files. Forget about using NMM/Vortex. Do it manually, it's not rocket science.

:: FEATURES ::
• Basically more immersive-looking presets, standard presets are only designed for western-style swords and can clip badly with certain gear
• TWO Presets for use with katanas and samurai/ronin armors
• Presets for use with capes
• Presets for use with cloaks
• A custom unique preset "Exotic" designed for excellent compatibility between any two dissimilar blades, a hybrid of eastern and western scabbard orientations
• More, creative body positions for the crossbow!
• Caped and Cloaked presets are meant to look good even when those items are not worn (some settings I tried for cloaks which other people have made, and my own first few attempts, didn't look very believable with the cloak removed)

:: BENEFITS ::
• Quicker and easier to set immersive-looking weapon positions when changing Geralt's equipment (no more "trial and error" of tediously adjusting coordinates for each weapon)
• Weapons positioned optimally to avoid visual interference (clipping) with Geralt's body, armor, accessories, the environment and each other!! **keep in mind some compromises were made for the broadest compatability with different equipments; small adjustments may be required for a perfect fit**
• Tried to avoid items appearing detached from geralt's body, and minimize appearance of odd looking physics when Geralt moves (that was most difficult for cloaked sword positions).

:: GENERAL ADVICE ::
• "Cloaked" presets are best used with the KM Cloaks from [Hoods], or the mod [Geralt Cloak]
• Use "Caped" presets with the NPC cape from [Hoods] or the brown and grey cloaks from [More Robes].
• Use "Samurai" presets with [Cyberpunk 2077 Black Unicorn Katana] sword(s), CATKATANA and/or FISHKATANA from [Witcher Katanas DLC V1.03 and YinYang Pendant], Michonne Katanas, or Nichirin Blade. Also, these armors: Kensei (or Nihon, or Midori) from [Samurai Attire DLC] and/or any of the armors from [SAMURAI ARMOR], or Order of the Flaming Rose armor.
• Use "Exotic" sword presets with NO cape or cloak (exception: Avallac'h cloak), any armor, and literally any two swords. Different silver and steel swords, heck even the shovel seem to pair well with this preset. The hilt guards almost never interfere (exception: vanilla GRANDMASTER WITCHER SWORDS, damn them for making absurdly large hiltguards). I tried to make them look balanced.
• "X" coordinate is how far to Geralt's left or right the sword is, with Zero at the center of Geralt's body. With this in mind, the sword presets may be one tick too close or too far from Geralt's body causing a very thin gap or very slight clipping, depending if he is wearing one of the thinnest or thickest armors. I recommend reducing the X offset (make it closer to Zero) by 1 tick for each sword, when going shirtless, wearing the basic shirt (not armor), low-tier cat armors, Kaer Morhen or Viper armors. I recommend INCREASING the X offset by 1 tick for each sword, when wearing very heavy armors or armors with thicker waists. Or just leave the settings the way I put them and don't look too hard :)

:: RECOMMENDED MODS ::
Clothing:
[Hoods] https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/4242
[More Robes] https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2144
[Geralt Cloak] works but, obsolete, Hoods is recommended instead

Weapons:
- Most of the katanas by mod author mickeywayy. Please let me know if you find one with floating scabbards and I'll let him know, he's been great about fixing them to work with this. These ones are confirmed to work:
[CP2077 Black Unicorn] https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/5662
[The Walking Dead Michonne's Katana] https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/5092
[Demon Slayer Nichirin Blade] https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/5120
[Witcher Katanas DLC V1.03] https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/1198

Armors:
[Samurai Attire DLC] https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/6384
[SAMURAI ARMOR] https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/3137

Scabbards:
- Pretty much any scabbard swap/retex mods you like! Including:
[Long Aerondight Scabbard] https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/6161

:: ALSO HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ::
[Accessory Slot Mod] https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/5099
• A quality-of-life UI "must have" for Hoods & More Robes
[Blitz FX] https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/6447
• Incredible rendering engine hack, has some pre-requisites and takes a few brain cells to get it properly running, but easily the single best graphics upgrade on Nexus for The Witcher 3. More advanced shadows and lighting than possible with vanilla, ReShade, or lighting mods, but also compatible with those things. Very smol performance hit. UPDATE: STILL PERFORMS AND LOOKS BETTER THAN NEXT-GEN WITH RAYTRACING! Unfortunately as of this readme, still only works with Witcher 3 Classic (1.31/1.32)
[Optimized Hairworks] https://www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/2613
• With all my other visual upgrades, I just couldn't stomach Geralt's vanilla hair anymore, either the low poly feather hair or the HairWorks spaghetti. You often have to see Geralt's hair up close, so this greatly improves the realism factor. Very smol performance hit (actually the same performance as vanilla HairWorks, but MUCH better looking)

:: KNOWN ISSUES ::
• Katana mods other than the ones I recommend either have no scabbard, or scabbards which float randomly in the air (sometimes right through Geralt's body). This is NOT a bug with Swords on the Hip, or my presets! Contact the authors who made those swords - they are the only ones who can fix it.
• Cloaked still clips THE TINIEST bit! Yeah, sorry, it always will. There's no collision detection, so it's literally impossible to avoid 100%. If I move them forward any further, they are detached from Geralt's waist and don't look right. But you are free to make whatever fine-adjustments you like.

:: CREDITS ::
♦ menschfeind13 for "Swords on the Hip" mod, who undoubtedly spent many more hours making that mod than I did making presets for it.
♦ vebriarta for posting their very good katana settings to the Samurai Attire DLC posts on Nexus. I started out by modifying the settings they posted, so you could say they provided the inspiration that started this project.
♦ me (lufusol) for countless hours of changing one value, testing, tweaking, changing again, staying up all night, taking screenshots, editing the XML file, saving it, testing it, deciding to make further changes 200 times, going slightly insane, making the hidden crossbow setting that caused lots of laughs in the middle of the night which probably woke my neighbors, until finally I have settled on v1.0
♦ YOU! The player. We are all connected. A rising tide raises all ships, as they say.
♦ The haters! What would light be without shadows? Tell me what you don't like, I'll decide if I can do anything about it find inspiration in your feedback.
