This guide walks you through setting up a new instance of Mod Organizer 2 and running it for the first time.

    1. Locate ModOrganizer.exe in your Mod Organizer 2 installation directory. Depending on your choices during installation, you may have a shortcut on your desktop. Double-click the file or shortcut to run it.

    2. You'll first be given a brief description of an instance, which is a full set of mods, downloads, profiles, and configuration files for a particular game. Check the box to Never show this page again and click 'Next >'

    3. Always use a portable instance when using Mod Organizer 2 for Bethesda games. This keeps everything you need in the same location that you installed MO2 in. Click 'Create a portable...

  • Update your video drivers

This guide is for NVIDIA users but I imagine AMD follows the same basic steps

    1. Open your favorite web browser and go to the NVIDIA Official Drivers or AMD Drivers and Support page. Obviously updating your AMD Drivers will be different than the steps I mention below.

    2. Select the correct Product Type, Product Series, Product, Operating System, and Language for your system. The Game Ready Driver is the main NVIDIA driver and features increased performance, bug fixes, and improved gaming experience. There is never a good reason to change this. Click Search when you have finished selecting the appropriate dropdowns.

    3. As of 2024.03.05 the latest GeForce Game Ready Driver is version 551.76. Click Download.

  • Install SFSE for MO2 and Kezyma's Root Builder

This guide requires both Mod Organizer 2 and Kezyma's Root Builder already be installed and walks you through installing and configuring SFSE.

    1. Open Mod Organizer 2 if it's not already running.

    2. Go to the Starfield Script Extender (SFSE) page and select MOD MANAGER DOWNLOAD of SFSE v0.2.4 (Compatible with Starfield 1.9.71). If this is the first mod you've downloaded with a Mod Manager, you'll receive a pop-up asking if you'd like to allow this site to open the nxm link with NXM Link Proxy. Check the box to Always allow, then click 'Open Link'.

    3. Locate the file SFSE-106-0-2-4-1709608032.7z under the Downloads tab and double-click to launch the installer.

  • Configure Mod Organizer 2 for Starlit - A Starfield Mod List

This guide walks you through further configuring Mod Organizer 2 for Starlit.

    1. First click the 'Configure settings and workarounds' button, marked by a wrench and screwdriver. This should open up the Themes tab.

    2. Select any Style you want. For the sake of your eyes, I recommend either '1809 Dark Mode' or 'dark'. Click OK when satisfied, you won't be able to see the color change until then. If you're not happy with the look, repeat the step and select something else.

    3. It's good practice to leave the Default Profile alone so you always have one profile with no mods running if you need to confirm a problem with a single mod, so select the Profile dropdown menu and then click '<Manage...>'

    4. Click on Starfield just above the Plugins tab in the right window and then select <Edit...>

  • Use SF1EditQuickAutoClean to clean Deleted references and ITM records.

Autocleaning a mod through SF1Edit removes any Identical to Master (ITM) records that authors sometimes copy over to their mod for various reasons, then forget to remove, also for various reasons. It also restores improperly deleted records and marks them as hidden instead. Have a mod that needs cleaning in no way implies a mod author made mistakes or the rest of the mod is bad, if that was the case, I wouldn't use it. Since ITM records are the most likely issue at this point, I'm providing a guide to cleaning mods only to limit the number of patches that may otherwise be needed to make two things work together. Keep in mind there are very rare cases where mod authors have left ITM records in place for a specific reason and blindly cleaning all of your mods may break something.

    4. You can now QUIT back to your desktop.
