OutLaw666 proudly presents:

Scoped Bows SE
The amazing Bow Sights Mod - Remastered

100% Immersive - 100% Lore-Friendly

Short Description

Scoped Bows is a huge weapons mod that adds scoped variants of all bows to the game, designed to be used without crosshair.
It comes with 4 optional tweaks (scroll down for details) that will greatly improve your archery gameplay experience.

This remastered "Special Edition" of the mod contains unique textures and additional bonus bows as well as a ton of little fixes.

Each scoped bow has two scopes. One is
designed for quick shots (used when standing), the other one is designed for precise shots (used when sneaking).
All scopes are matching the design of the corresponding bow to keep them lore-friendly.

You are getting
32 Scoped Bows in total.

Obtaining

Scoped bows are seamlessly integrated into the game.

Accordingly to your level scoped bows will randomly appear in the world of skyrim (on npc's, in shop vendor menus or in containers), but you can also craft them yourself if you have the required smithing perks and the corresponding vanilla base bow. Unique bows are already scoped when you find them.

Installing

Install/Uninstall:
Scoped Bows comes with a FOmod scripted Installer and therefore requires a mod manager to be installed.
You can get "NMM" (Nexus Mod Manager) here, or you klick on the link on top of the page.

Load Order:
Place Scoped Bows above all npc mods, if you are using any.

Help:
If you are having troubles make sure you read the entire description as well as the Troubleshooting instructions.

Recommendations

For the best gameplay experience (in other words to use this mod how it is intended) you should:

1.) Disable the crosshair in your game settings.
2.) Use all the tweaks that come with the installer.

Optional Tweaks

Scoped Bows comes with the following optional* tweaks: *You can choose inside the installer whether or not you want to use them.

Stealth Meter Tweak:
Moves the Sneak Eye away from the center to enable an unobstructed view through the scopes. - This tweak is incompatible with any mod that changes the hudmenu.gfx file.

ini Tweaks:
Increases the distance arrows fly, removes the aim assist and makes the crosshair or reticle the centre (rather than being slightly above it). They are the same as recommended in "S.T.E.P." (http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Skyrim_Configuration_Settings). You don't have to edit your skyrim ini manually. ScopedBows.ini is overwriting the settings without changing the original skyrim.ini. - Ini tweaks should be compatible with everything.

Faster Arrows:
Makes arrows go 50% faster and further. - This tweak is incompatible with any mod that does the same thing.

Better Eagle Eye:
Increases the zoom you get with the Eagle Eye perk. (Vanilla value: 0.6, modded: 0.8) - This tweak is incompatible with any mod that overhauls the archery perk tree.

Compatibility and Issues

Scoped Bows is script free!

Scoped bows are tweaked to work with vanilla animations and skeleton. Every mod that changes 1stperson skeleton, 1stperson animations or 1stperson camera can potentially interfere with the alignment of the sights, which makes them unusable.

Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim
is perfectly compatible with Scoped Bows. Just don't use the optional "Eagle Eye Tweak" that comes with Scoped Bows!

Known Issues:
Clipping when using thick gauntlets.
(only with some of the bows) -Fix: None, but i's barely noticeable after getting the "quick shot" perk.
Opaque glass lenses with Ebony Mail armor. -Fix: Use the mod Ebony Mail - Smoke Only

Field of View (FOV):
The sights are working with all possible FOV values.
But keep in mind: The higher the value, the smaller (further away) the sights will appear. I strongly recommend to play with the default fov-value!

FAQ

Q: I don't know how to install mods. Help?
A: Watch gopher's Beginner's Guide to Modding Skyrim.

Q: The bows are invisible. What can i do?
A: Make sure the mod is correctly installed (use a mod manager!). Read Troubleshooting for details.

Q: This mod crashes my game.
A: No, it does not. Read Troubleshooting for details.

Q: I consoled auriels bow and the sunshots are not working.
A: You have to play the quest to make sun shots work.

Q: Will you be doing scoped crossbows?
A: No. Crossbows don't line up with your line of sight while aiming. The only right way to do it would require to change the 1st person aim animation. But that's beyond my capabilities.

Q: Can you add a scope to the bow of mod xy?
A: No. I think mod authors know best how their weapon should look like. Ask them if they want to release a scoped version. Scoped Bows aims to add scoped versions of all vanilla bows.

Q: Why does it require the Hearthfire DLC?
A: Because i'm using Glass, which is a building material added by Hearthfire as a crafting requirement on bows which have target lenses. Makes sense and increases immersion.

Q: Where can i get "Glass"?
A: Belethor in Whiterun has it always on offer. Other general goods merchants or Khajiit traders are selling it randomly.

Q: What armor mods are you using in the shots: "Hunter Cinematic" and "Auriel Cinematic"?
A: Hunter Cinematic: "Crimson Ranger Armor", hood from "Imperial Mage Armor", "cloaks of skyrim", gloves and face cover from "wet and cold".
Auriel Cinematic: Rahgot with retexture from "Apophysis Dragon Priest Masks" and the default vanilla royal vampire armor.

Q: What enb preset are you using in the screenshots and what mods are you using to get this result?
A: In most of the pictures i was using "Kinematic-ENB-Extensiv", the predecessor of today's "Kinematic ENB Southern Light". Other than that i'm using Flora Overhaul, Verdant, Realistic Water Two, HD Detailed Terrain, aMidianBorn Landscape textures and AOF Detailed Mountains.
