About this mod

A better face for our good old spellsword for hire, Belrand.

Permissions and credits
Changelogs
Belrand is a very useful companion and rather unique among vanilla Skyrim followers because of his dual fighting technique - spell and sword. With the help of
various follower AI mods, even more so. Alas, his original appearance was quite...underwhelming for such a great character. And so I give you the new and
improved Belrand, with a gorgeous face to match his spirit.

I have taken into consideration everything about Belrand:
  • His age; according to the sound of his voice and his general behavior, I surmise that he's somewhere in his forties. Therefore, detail map of his face shows subtle wrinkles.
  • His experience; I think a few souvenirs in the form of scars are adding to his character.
  • His origin; Belrand is a fierce Nord and I've given him correspondent light blue eyes and strong facial structure. Also, a Nordic tattoo which is not overly intrusive.
  • His abilities; considering one of his basic abilities is an ice spell, I've decided to make this affinity apparent by giving him a complimentary haircut and facial hair. Gradient bluish/white that resembles icy wave, styled in the manner of a combat expert who doesn't like long hair messing with his focus and movements. It is also very good at combining with circlets; as a spellsword, I believe his headgear should be magically oriented instead of encasing his features in a robust helmet. His stubble is very light and doesn't "swallow up" his face.

I didn't change Belrand's weight because I wanted to avoid black face bug, so his weight is vanilla. This means that you can install this mod mid-playtrough and enjoy it immediately.

Installation & Compatibility
There are three versions of this mod and they are all standalone. I wanted to avoid making patches in order to lessen the number of plugins in your load order.
Recommended installation is via mod manager of your choice (MO2, Vortex). Otherwise (not suggested), unpack the .rar file into your Data folder.

The Default version:
You should install this if you don't use either USSEP or Cutting Room Floor. Both of these mods - which I consider rather essential - are making changes to
Belrand.
You can also install this version if you're making your own bashed/smashed/merged patch (and you're familiar with SSEEdit), but be sure to open SSEEdit after creating your patch, find BelrandKatarsi.esp and check for conflicts under Non-Player Character (Actor).

The USSEP version:
You should install this if you're using USSEP - without CRF. The changes from USSEP are integrated within the plugin and you won't need a patch.

The CRF version:
Since both USSEP and CRF are using the same edits on Belrand, install this if you're using Cutting Room Floor - with or without USSEP. In addition to USSEP, CRF is giving starting leveled armor and weapon to Belrand.
If for some reason you prefer Belrand in his default iron armor and with an iron sword, install USSEP version instead.

A patch/version for AI Overhaul isn't needed because AIO doesn't touch Belrand.

If by chance you have some other mods that affect Belrand, let me know and I'll see if I can make a new version with included edits.
And of course, Belrand should be as low as possible in your load order.

I am using Tempered Skins for Males - SOS version, and Belrand's face was made with this mod in mind. Until I have more information, I am making it a requirement. If you're not using this mod, there may be a neck seam, or worse - a neck gap. I assume other versions of Tempered Skins for Males will work as well, not just the SOS version.
Apparently my Belrand works with any skin texture and body overhaul.
If not, you can test and see for yourself (and let me know, of course) :)  Testing is harmless and you can safely install/uninstall this mod on a current save - with a mod manager.

ToDo / future plans:
Making his face with a high poly head. I just have to figure out how to successfully install high poly head...
I figured it out, go check the improved high poly version here :)
