CPR is a Skyrim's mod created by Maxsu, that massively amplifies combat behavior in NPCs through advanced pathing algorithms. This means the movement of enemies becomes more strategic and more realistic, making sure the NPC responds intelligently during battles. Improving the ease and difficulty of combat encounters, this mod makes NPCs more skilled at navigating the environment and shaping their tactics according to a situation. The Mechanics/combat behavior of CPR are:
1. Advance: NPCs advance, closing the distance to engage the player or target, thus starting melee combat or getting in a more favorable position for ranged attacks.
2. Back-off: NPCs back off to give themselves some breathing space from the player, such that they avoid possible attacks, and then reposition to get a better vantage for an attack from a new angle.
3. Circle: The NPCs will circle around the player or target, trying to find an opening for a strike or space, so they don't get cornered. Even able to turn over the tide and corner the player.
4. Fallback: The NPCs will disengage from combat and move to a safe position either to regroup, heal up, or in an attempt to re-strategize.
Please, take a note:
- With this patch, NPCs, followers, and enemies can circle the target 360 degrees. If using mods with Attacks of Opportunity, enemies can flank and attack from the sides or behind, dealing more damage or crits. Dual-wielders become more deadly.
- NPCs would be able to mix the behaviors with sprint-attacks (if provided by the moveset) and dodge mods, making combat even more interesting.
- NPCs won't circle or fallback without the Close Range - Dueling box checked in their combat style.
- NPC offensive and defensive behavior is controlled by combat AI. Choose one that suits your needs.
Relations:
- MCO, BFCO, focuses on modernizing combat mechanics by adding new attack animations, combos, and transitions.
- SCAR, adds dynamic attack and power attack, combo animations for NPCs to make combat more engaging and responsive. And SCAR Stamina Limitation Patch, to limit NPCs attacks. There is also SCAR 2.01 at Maxsu's GitHub and The AE version of it at SkyHorizon's GitHub.
- CPR, improves NPC combat pathing AI, making enemy movements more strategic and realistic with varieties.
- Wait Your Turn, decide how many melee NPCs that able to attack you. Recommended setting for 3–5 enemies, after you get higher level to see CPR in works.
- Precision, set the length of melee weapon's collision to be physically precise/accurate with SCAR & CPR's distance behavior. Mostly, recent MCO animations are already patched with Precision.
Requirements:
- Weapon Styles for IED by GiraPomba. And its requirements.
- Combat Pathing Revolution (CPR) by Maxsu. And its requirements.
- NO settings are required, just let the enemy unsheathe their weapon.
- Install the optional file if you're not using Extra Drawing Animations and/or Dual Wield Unlocker.
This version reverting the animations into Weapon Style for IED's default animation. These 2 mods are needed for unlocking weapon/shield placement in the left hand, allowing to rotate or adjust them. Personally, I recommend to use these 2 mods and not using the optional file. It's easy to switch back if the animations isn't suitable.
Official CPR is stable at version 1.5.97, there is an unofficial source CPR for 1.6.x, but use it at your own risk.
- Fenix Combat AI : This mod reconstructed the entire AI behavior tree so it would overwrite everything CPR had changed and would cause CTD if using together.
- Any animation that has equip.hkx and unequip.hkx.
The popular mod that you might be using is; Smooth Movesets:Just turn-off/disable/delete/hide/rename the equip.hkx and unequip.hkx or edit the config/conditions or make lower-priority number than this patch or make it so it just only effect the player, not the NPCs. Or even self-patch them.
- If the animations mentioned above are only affecting the player character and not NPCs, then they're good to go; there is no incompatibility.
Please read about Weapon Style and XPMSSE interactions at GiraPomba's detailed explanations and the check sticky notes.
Compatible with all other mods except those listed above. Use in-combination with: combat mods, AI mods,
parry mods, block mods, dodge mods with i-frame, moveset, etc.
Project Gap Close compatibility? Yes, just use the the option; "Project Gap Close - Disabled Dynamic CPR."
