A QoL mod for Mysticism and the Darenii spell packs. It removes gravity from all spells, increases touch spell range and speed, increases range on upper-level concentration spells, makes the casting time on fire-and-forget spells consistent, applies some duration-related perks more broadly and de-nerfs cloak spells.

Description
This mod contains mild spell improvements for Simon Magus’s Mysticism and for all of the Darenii spell packs. It has six options, each of which can be installed independently via the FOMOD.

It's all implemented with SkyPatcher, so it should play nice with other mods. This also means that there are no hard requirements other than SkyPatcher and the base game - not even Mysticism, Adamant or the Darenii spell packs. It just works.

The six options are:

  • Spell Gravity Tweaks: Mysticism adds gravity to lots of missile-type spells. Darenii’s spell packs follow Simon’s template and so lots of the spells in there have gravity also. I can’t stand lobbing my fireballs at my enemies, so I removed gravity from all spells.
  • Spell Touch Tweaks: Mysticism and Darenii add a bunch of touch spells. I like the idea, but I felt the range was too short – I found I was often missing with my spells even though I was within melee range. The projectile speed and casting time were also just slow enough to cause me to misfire sometimes. I felt that “Touch” spells should be effectively instantaneous. So, I increased their range 50%, increased the projectile speed and reduced the casting time.
  • Spell Concentration Tweaks: Mysticism and Darenii add Adept-level and Master-level concentration spells. Most of these are simply higher DPS versions of the novice spells like Flames and Sparks, perhaps with better visuals. I increased their range by 50% - 100%, making them more useful and interesting. Some, like Lightning Storm, Daybreak and Luminous Moonbeam, have insane ranges already, so I left those alone.
  • Spell Casting Time Tweaks: Mysticism changes the casting time of most (but not all) fire-and-forget spells to 1 second, from the vanilla value of 0.5 seconds. For example, Firebolt is 0.5 seconds, but Fire Ball is 1 second. Darenii's spell packs follow suit, with some fire-and-forget spells at 1 second and some at 0.5 seconds. This makes them inconsistent and increases the likelihood of misfiring. I made them all be 0.5 seconds. Master-level spells with a casting time over 1 second are left alone.
  • Spell Duration Perk Tweaks: Mysticism adds a bunch of Alteration utility spells and long-ish duration Restoration spells. Adamant also adds perks for improving the duration of some, but not all of these spells. Darenii's Natura adds some additional spells that are in the same spirit as the Mysticism spells. I made the improved duration perks apply to these spells, making maintaining them less onerous without making them OP.
  • Spell Cloak Tweaks: Cloak spells are fairly weak in vanilla, but with some effort (dual-cast + both augment perks + maximum fortify destruction potion) you can get respectable DPS and radius, at least for an Adept spell. SimonMagus nerfs them by making power affect duration rather than radius and Darenii follows Simon's lead. For Mysticism, power also doesn't affect DPS. This means that the radius is short, and the only buff to DPS comes from the augment perks. Simon nerfs them further by reducing the radius by 20% (and again Darenii follows Simon's lead). This package restores vanilla radius and applies the 'Power Affects Magnitude' flag to radius and DPS. Darenii's Ascension mod allows for longer cloak durations.

Installation
Just download it and install any or all of the options from the FOMOD with your mod manager. They’re safe to Install on an existing save and will take effect the next time you launch the game. If you don’t have Mysticism or only have some (or none) of the Darenii spell packs, that’s fine. It will ignore any that you don’t have.

It's safe to upgrade. From v1.4 or earlier, just uninstall whichever parts you previously had and then install the new version. From v1.5 or later, just update to the new version.

Uninstallation
Just use your mod-manager. SkyPatcher mods are safe to uninstall mid-save.

Q: ESL?
A: Yes. Only the concentration tweaks has an ESP, and it is ESPFE.
