SUPPORT
  • If you enjoy this mod in any capacity, please do consider endorsing it.

  • If you wish to support me and my animating habits further, donations or Patreon support are very helpful. My job is contract-based, and I will be absent work in the summer; any additional income not only helps me get by, but allows me to justify more time animating. Small, one-time donations are especially helpful.

DESCRIPTION
Warning: text wall incoming, but it's kind of necessary for this weapon.

The original intent for this weapon was to apply some new idles to the original animation. Largely, that did happen--but between then and now, most of this weapons animations are unique. The equip and unequip are exactly the same as my Chinese Assault Rifle's, and the attack animations are tweaked to appear as slightly less powerful (to reflect this gun's lower damage). The idles are the same, too.

And that's about it. This gun ended up getting a plethora of reloads, jams, and unique last shot animations.

This happened because, upon examining the old reloads and getting some feedback on them, I decided they needed to be scrapped entirely. I was never super satisfied with how my first go-around went anyways. However, I did want to preserve the reload timings from the original reloads, as they fit in nicely with my Chinese Assault Rifle (I will not stop plugging this animation--go download it). I succeeded here: the reload timings for this new set are almost exactly the same as my old set, meaning they're slightly slower than vanilla's, but still faster than my Chinese Assault Rifle, which I think fits the balance nicely and gives you a reason to use this gun over its Chinese cousin.

Anyways, to get to this point, I had to rethink how this gun works (unfortunately, I do know how this gun works). The flapping bolt came back with the attack, and I thought that made the gun look a bit "rougher," a bit more like it was, well, a post-apocalyptic weapon that will inevitably fall apart on you (which is fitting). As such, I decided to make this bouncing bolt a key feature of the weapon, and appear as if it were "loose." This lead to the idea of a unique last shot animation, where the gun kicks back harder, but the bolt flies back with it--and this also allowed me to save a ton of time on the reload, all while skipping a part that I think looks less interesting.

The bunch follows this theme. The slap is too professional for my taste, and punching the bolt reinforces this idea that it's "loose." Plus, I low-key think the slap looks kind of stupid, nevermind that we've seen a million of those anyways.

And then, yeah, I started making custom animations for the variants, variants for those, and here you go. Due to TTW's Drum Magainze, this gun can be very effective now, because it still has a faster reload than the Chinese Assault Rifle--meaning you might come back to this weapon if you have the right mods, which should make swapping this weapon out a choice rather than a straight upgrade, as it is in vanilla.

Cheers.
