Welcome to The New Bison Steve Hotel & Lucky Casino mod for Fallout: New Vegas!
Have you ever thought how disappointing it was that the Bison Steve Hotel was just left to crumble into the annals of history? Ever thought that it would be a cool location to rebuild? Well, that's exactly what this mod does one step at a time!
But it doesn't stop there! Not only is The New Bison Steve Hotel & Lucky Casino quest a complete makeover of The Bison Steve Hotel, it also includes "Buck's Place", a beautiful, high-tec player home with all the cool features we have grown to love.
Bucks Place also comes with it's own special "Bucks" Bobblehead's placed all throughout the Mojave for you to hunt for, a very large display room that is perfect for mannequins and displaying your unique weapons and collectibles. You even get your own personal vendor who can also repair your gear for a price and sell you stuff.
Download with confidence! This mod was meticulously error checked and thoroughly cleaned with FNVEdit!!!
To start the quest go to the Vikki and Vance Casino and ask Johnson Nash about The Bison Steve Hotel. Or, simply find "Steve" who is the grandson of "Old Laurie" that Johnson Nash talks about, and is holed up in the Vikki and Vance with the other townsfolk. They'll be glad to get you on your way.
During your adventure you'll restore law and order to a town and help an uninspired artist regain his mojo as you battle Fiends, Ghouls and escaped convicts. You'll even get to trade wits with a cantankerous old bastard along the way. You'll learn about Texas "Buck" Brunson, the Mojave's greatest high stakes poker player, and get a little help from his niece "Anna" along the way. You even get to use his beautiful house and display room if you wish to. All in all I feel it's a pretty fun quest and story!
Each phase of construction will require you to procure the materials and supplies needed to complete that part of the project. You'll have to acquire items ranging from lighting fixtures for the casino, booths for the Steak House, general supplies such as booze, food and even The Lucky Casino's custom casino gear! There are over 30 pieces of custom artwork as well.
See the results of your effort unfold as each stage of construction comes to life before your eyes with each new item you secure and quest stage you complete. (Don't forget to pop into the place and track your progress each time!)
NOTE: This is a QUEST mod, not a combat only mod and it focuses on role playing, earning a stake in your own casino and the story as much as it focuses on combat. Moreover, it was designed with a brand new character in mind who is working their way up from level 2 or 3 or so, not for a level 30 demigod character who is invincible!
If you follow the main vanilla quest from Goodsprings (level 1 to 3 or so) you are told go to Primm, so that is where my quest was intended to begin. That's not to say you cannot do it at any level because you can. But for me, clearing out all the convicts that took over the old Bison is pretty challenging and fun at level 2 or 3 with only a crappy 9mm pistol, Varmint Rifle and weak leather armor at best. (Unless you're using modded stuff early on.) Perhaps I just suck as a gamer, but I don't find that part "too easy" if played with the gear the vanilla game gives you. Likewise, I don't find clearing out Vault 3 at those early levels especially easy either. There's a LOT of Fiends in there and a boss at the end.
Please leave a comment and endorsement if you like the mod.

NEW USERS: If you have not played the mod before, you should install the V107 Master File with the mod manager or install it manually.
CURRENT USERS: First, before you do anything, make a NEW HARD save! I'm NOT responsible if you mess up your game because you didn't save! If you uninstall any earlier version you will need to replace it with V107 PLUGIN VERSION (NOT the Master File Version) or you will LOSE ALL PROGRESS AND ANY GEAR YOU HAVE STORED IN ANY CONTAINER ADDED BY THIS MOD!!!
UPDATING TO V107 WITH QUESTS COMPLETED: If you have completed all the quests and Steve is in the new hotel, you'll need to remove all the old files and either use the NMM to update or download manually and install yourself. Make a NEW HARD save and remove the following directories or files, then install V107 Plugin Version:
...\Data\Meshes\Bucks
...\Data\Textures\Bucks
...\Data\Sound\Voice\The New Bison Steve Hotel.esp
...\Data\The New Bison Steve Hotel.esp
Once the mod is correctly installed, you'll have the following 2 files in your Data folder:
...\Data\The New Bison Steve Hotel.esp (or .esm if you installed the master file version)
...\Data\The New Bison Steve Hotel.bsa
UPDATING TO V107 WITH QUESTS ONGOING: First, I highly recommend if you're fairly early in the quest, simply start over by uninstalling the mod, load your game and make a new hard save and reinstall V107 Master Version. However, if you don't want to or can't do that, we may have to use the console to get you going. This is necessary due to the new quest mechanics I implemented in this update. But don't worry, once you're up and running again, you'll be good to go!If at all possible, update just before you pick up one of the quest items you have to go get.
For example, if your current mission is to “Find Motor-Runners Vault Briefcase in Vault 3”, simply update to V107, go complete that objective and everything should proceed normally from there. If you update just before you have to speak to Steve, Anna or Slim, their dialog will likely not run due to the new conditions I set. If this is the case, I advise you to stay with your current version until you have the objective to pick up either the blueprints, Motor-Runners briefcase, grills or casino supplies. Once one of those are your current objective, save, uninstall your old version and update to V107 PLUGIN VERSION.
For your convenience, I have uploaded a list of quest stages and their accompanying objectives. However, I HIGHLY advise that you post in my comments thread and ask before you start setting stages unless you're absolutely certain you know what you're doing. I am NOT responsible for your game if you screw something up by setting the wrong stage! So before you do anything, please ask me and I'll help you! And PLEASE make a new hard save before doing ANYTHING!
Q - I can't complete the quest to take the pictures for Michael Angelo or it's not updating my quest after taking his pictures.
A - The Classic Inspiration quest must be successfully completed. Put the following 2 codes in the console one at a time and check the stages of each:
sqv 00112577
That is the Classic Inspiration quest and if you completed it correctly you should be in stage 90.
To check my Grand Opening quest put this in:
sqv XX01bcd0
The XX is the numerical slot my mod is in your load order. This quest should be in stage 50. If it is not in stage 50 set it to 50 like this:
SetStage XX01bcd0 50
Once Classic Inspiration is in stage 90 and Grand Opening is in stage 50 go see Steve and he should have dialog for you.
The XX is the numerical slot my quest is in your load order. You can get this by getting near Steve, opening thew console and clicking on him. The first 2 numbers or letters in his RefID is what you substitute for the XX.
Q - Do you have a list of all the Bobblehead locations?
A - Yes, I sure do! (Click Here)
Q - Do you have a list of the new quest stages?
A - Yes, I sure do! (Click Here) I HIGHLY advise you post in my comments thread before setting a stage unless you are absolutely certain you know what you're doing! And for goodness sake, make a new hard save before you use the console. I'm NOT responsible for your messed up quest if you fail to follow these common sense suggestions!
Q - What is that switch up by the roller-coaster for?
A - This switch will allow you to toggle a new door I added into the new hotel rooms on/off. I had originally left the door in its vanilla state so if someone went in that door it would take them back into the old vanilla second floor rooms. That decision was intentional as I didn't want to shut players out of the cell and have their only way back in be using the console to coc back into the cell. There is a unique weapon as well as something very SPECIAL that Buck left in the vanilla cell, so I wanted players to have a way to get back in there if they didn't find the items their first time through. Hopefully, this will clear up the confusion concerning that door.
Q - What is the "Population Control" switch in Steve's office for?
A - This will toggle on/off some of the generic gamblers hanging out in the hotel and casino. This was done by request from some folks lagging due to the number of NPC's in the cell. It toggles 8 NPC's total
