RandomPal and Vegetto are happy to introduce you to "The Ashlanders – Ashlander camps overhaul"

What’s this mod about?
Ashlander camps have been overlooked by the modding community, which is weird as the ashlander concept is inspired and original.

Before I start my discussion about what we did for this mod and why I’d like you to take a look at some fan-arts which we used as an inspiration so you can be hyped up about an ashlander camps overhaul too!

FIRST POINT
Despite being all ashlanders, there are some differences between various tribes. They have a different skill set, live in different locations, have a different relationship with the great houses, and so on. This is stated in dialogue, hinted in many ways, but not really pushed to the point where these differences are noticeable right away.
For this reason, we decided to differentiate the tribes a bit more, adding more flavor to them.

SECOND POINT
We added more details around the camps and made some new ashlander resources. We were inspired by the drawings I linked and wanted to recreate some of those scenes.
We also made large use of animation packs available to make ashlanders a bit less static. A special thanks for the animations goes to Vidi_Aquam who allowed us to use the animations from The Sitting Mod and also made a couple of new animations for us.

THIRD POINT
The wise woman yurts.
They are supposed to be the shamans of their tribes, but their yurts look just the same: a bunch of bedrolls, two pots, three baskets, done.
Not anymore! Once you enter a wise woman's yurt, the ancestral and mystical powers of these shamans will be more noticeable.

FOURTH POINT
Ashlanders camps are tiny. We expanded them where it was possible but without changing the footprint or editing the landscape. Compared to something like "Ashlander Camps Expanded", we focused more on atmoshpere and only added a yurt or two if and where it felt right.

NOW, A BIT MORE IN DETAIL, WITH DID WE DO FOR THE VARIOUS CAMPS?

Zainab
Zainab is supposed to be skilled merchants and the richest among the ashlanders.
We made it more obvious that Zainabs engage in bartering and are richer than other tribes.

Erebeminsun

They are skilled warriors who live in hostile ashlands. We made a new set of tents and furniture made from insectoid parts instead of wood. The lore actually says that ashlanders use chitin for their tents so we could have replaced every tent with the new ones we made but we thought that a less drastic approach was preferable and only used them for the Erebenimsun camp.

There's more. The Erebenimsun are supposed to be strong warriors, but how are they supposed to be so strong if they spend all their time walking around the camp, doing nothing? :P
We added a training yurt where warriors of the tribe can train. You can actually see them fighting with each other so it's quite immersive:)

Urshilaku
Among various tribes, the Urshilaku are the most religious ones. We focused on this with appropriate cluttering and a shrine dedicated to Nerevar.

Ahemmusa
They're a poor tribe, lost, without an ashkan, and looking for a new place to settle.
We overhauled this camp too of course, but we changed far less compared to the other camps as it feels like the most "generic" camp.

Mods suggested going alongside this one
Only one mod I'd suggest to further enhance the Ashlander Camps experience
- Riders by rotat: grab the fixed version from here (fixes the broken script of the rider close to Caldera).

Compatibility

Should be compatible with OpenMW and with every other mod that doesn't drastically change the ashlander camps.

Mods that shouldn't be used alongside this one are

- Urshilaku Spiritual: it was made by Vegetto and it has been merged into this and improved

- Ashlander camps expanded: not compatible but this mod already deals with expanding the camps a little bit

- Ashlander herders: not compatible but this mod already adds herders. Differently from Anumaril's mod, this doesn't use marked creatures so it's compatible with model/textures replacers
- Beautiful Cities of Morrowind: Ashlanders in already embedded into Beautiful Cities of Morrowind.

We hope you like the mod:)
