Reduce NPC Banter Repetitiveness is a mod designed to reduce the frequency of repetitive NPC dialogue by introducing 'cooldowns' to them.
It supports configurable options via MCM, but also works out of the box. By default, it will gradually increase intervals to up to 5 minutes.
The mod offers a range of customizable features to control how in-game banter (automated dialog) is handled in relation to the player's active character. It is possible to adjust the minimum distance for the mod to kick in, set the maximum occurrences of banter, and control the intervals between occurrences, including an option for using random intervals and to scale intervals based on distance to speaker.
Banter from party members is not influenced by this mod.
This is actually one of the first mods I started working on and, admittedly, it was a bit over-engineered, but I didn't want to discard it. The mod only reacts to automated dialog via Osiris events; they aren't manually triggered, so these two factors combined mean some settings might not work 100% as expected, but since this isn't critical or noticeable in any meaningful way, you can expect the settings to function as intended overall.
See the MCM menu in-game for more details.
Installation
- Download the .zip file and install using BG3MM.
- Volition Cabinet 1.11.0+
- Mod Configuration Menu 1.9.0+
BG3 Script Extender (you can easily install it with BG3MM through its Tools tab or by pressing CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+T while its window is focused)
Compatibility
- This mod should be compatible with most game versions and other mods, as it mostly just listens to game events and does not edit existing game data.
- Most mods that handle Automated Dialogue should still be compatible, e.g. More Reactive Companions.
