Check the SE logs and play around with the settings if you want something more strict. It only gradually prevents banter repetition, and also resets every time a save is loaded.
May I request something similar but other way around? :) In act 3, the companions are so quiet, I would like to hear them more. The party feel dead compared to the other chapters. It is so easy to miss a conversation. I missed lots when I clicked to talk to a npc just when a conversation started. I wonder if it is a way to make it so those conversations will repeat more than once? Also maybe add some conversations from the other acts so act 3 is not so quiet. Also I would love to know how to do this myself, how can I do this? Thank you for reading :)
What you're looking for is More Reactive Companions, my mod only impacts banter from NPCs (i.e. outside the party). These are both SE mods if you want to take a look.
Seems like the script gets caught in a loop every once in a while, causing performance to tank. I was struggling to identify why my game would suddenly drop to 10fps, but I finally managed to identify the script and it appears to be this one. Extender console debug-2 shows a lot of repeated scripts in certain areas. Unclear if this is a bug or simply poor performance due to number of operations.
Main areas I experience this is druid's grove near the tieflings, druid's grove before the tiefling party, some in goblin camp, excessive amounts at Last Light Inn, and some at Moonrise. Have yet to check Act 3.
Sometimes the script stabilizes and fps returns to normal, other times I have to reload the save in order for performance to return. I'll keep an eye on my logs as I play through more and see if this finding is consistent.
These are areas with lots of automated dialog (which this mod handles). If you have debug level 2 at all times or a weak CPU, it's going to tank performance
Nope, it could definitely be something else, but I had debug on trying to find which script was causing it (assuming it is a script). I've got an "overclocked" 7800x3d in my rig, can't really call that weak haha. I'll have to do some more troubleshooting, it's very frustrating to be running at 165fps then drop to 10. For a while I suspected it could be AppearanceEditEnhanced, as it had some logs appear at times when I noticed the lag, and it happens sometimes after a level up. Quite annoying to pinpoint...
Very nice mod. Though I'd very much like an option to apply it to party banter too. I am really getting a bit tired of Halsin/Shadowheart conversation about learning to swim. Once per hour would be more then enough.
Is MCM required if you don’t change the default settings or only if you do plan to change them? MCM keeps putting a cursor on the screen when using a controller. It is a known issue with MCM.
i like this mod. Hearing the same dialogue over and over in the background gets old.
Where would you recommend this go in load order (e.g., early, late, last, doesn't matter, etc.)?
Regardless, from the bottom of my black little heart, I thank you. Repetitiveness drives me batty. The NPCs in Act III made me turn my sound down to near-inaudible to protect my sanity. Now I'll be able to hear party banter again 😁

By the way, it will also work for reducing the spell spamming in front of Sorcerous Sundries.

You can add more details in the SE bug report about this issue: https://github.com/Norbyte/bg3se/issues/408

Edit
Never mind. Finally got it to work by updating script extender. Thanks for the great mod.
