Step by step Dragon's Dogma skin texture modding
As the title says. If someone finds this remotely useful thank Nyuubee who asked for it. Most of the knowledge imprinted here was obtained by raiding obscure message boards, cluelessly copying reverse engineering other mods or by trial and error bruteforce, so uhm.... great didactic value, just I'd think twice before citing in academic discussions.
Speedrun:
- Find the texture you want to mod, figure out which arc file is hiding the goods. For example, this mod uses game_main.arc from a previous mod as base (LDKSuperDante's "Cleaner female body texture").
- Use ARCtool to extract the files from the arc file.
- Find the actual texture maps in the new folder (game_main/model/pl/f/f_base/f000/ contains body and head textures)
- Use ARCt... -

A comic/cartoon/anime look for your game? Yes, why not? ;)
The vibrant colors, sharp images and outlines make the game look so cool ^^
If you're not familiar with the game, it's mechanics and interface, you will probably want to remove the Outline effect, to see things clearer. Otherwise, I recommend playing without the interface, tutorial messages, etc and the game will look much better.
For real, after playing Dragon's Dogma with reshades, you won't ever feel like playing it in the default vanilla style anymore.
Good game everyone :)

This is a quick and dirty tutorial for anyone looking to edit the itemList.itl
TOOLS:
ARCtool (I'm assuming you can use ARCtool. If not, do some research)
hex editor (like HxD https://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/ )
Notepad++ (or similar, you should be keeping notes while you work--seriously, make it a habit)
Calculator for converting to and from hex
You'll want a way to find the items you're looking to edit as quickly as possible, so I've uploaded an item list which can be found in the download section--get it. And don't overlook the wiki for various references.

It's good to be back to playing Dragon's Dogma, it's been a long while, and it's also good to be back to mods and modding.
After you play a game using mods once, you probably won't want to play that game in a vanilla-style anymore and you might also check other games you play if there are mods available.
When modding, I always struggle, because of my limited knowledge (specially regarding programming languages, or messing with some new tools I've never seen before) and it takes a while, with lots of trials and errors and all. And I usually have many ideas, all at once, so I often lose focus on what I'm doing and waste some time trying other stuff on the way. So, a simple mod like "All Quest Items and Cosmetics (Badge of Vows - Fetch items - Bitterblack items and R... -
