About this mod

(EW / LW /EU?) Adds a dedicated SHIV-only slot to the squad selection screen. The slot does not take a soldier slot. Encourages usage of SHIVs.

The mod creates additional SHIV-only slot in the Skyranger. It does NOT take one of soldier slots, it adds additional one. Answering the implicit question - yes, it does increase squad size for tactical missions and yes, it can break balance, especially early game. However, nothing stops you from playing on higher difficulty instead (if you really feel that addtional member in the team would spoil the challenge for you).

There are a few configuration options for the mod - check DefaultModShivSlot.ini in the game files or search the mod in Mods Menu (if using UI Mod Manager):
  • number of SHIV slots (yes, you can have more than 1 if you want)
  • requirement of "Super Skyranger" foundry project to be unlocked first
  • enable/disable the slot for certain missions: EXALT missions, terror sites, alien base assault.

IMPORTANT: if the number of available SHIV-slots would push the total Skyranger's capactity above 12, the number of slots will be decreased to match max total capactity of 12.

The mod is DISABLED for XCom HQ Defense mission


Go to Squad Selection screen for a mission. A button will appear at the top of screen. Click it (or hit TAB or the X gamepad button). You are now in the SHIV selection screen. Use the "back button" to return to the main squad selection.


1. Unzip the files.
2. Copy everything from \Config folder of the mod into \Config folder of your game.
3. Copy everything from \CookedPCConsole folder of the mod into \CookedPCConsole folder of your game.
4. Copy everything from \Localization folder of the mod into \Localization folder of your game.
The default path to the folder for Steam users is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\XCom-Enemy-Unknown\XEW\XComGame\
5. Add these lines to DefaultMutatorLoader.ini (inside \Config game folder):



Mini Mods Collection (30+ small mods, quality of life improvements and new mechanics)

Pod Reveal Mods Collection (limit the number of "suprise" encounters, gain a scamper move on pod's reveal)
