After some further testing, I'm updating my recommendation to use AQUA instead of SPLASH. This mod still works in Next-Gen/4.0 update. An even more up-to-date version of SPLASH was integrated into ramccoid's other mod AQUA, but those updates were not made to this version. AQUA includes further tweaked splashes and most notably, a fix for the visual bug with circular fountains (which are frequent in Novigrad).
Witcher 3 Next-Gen's waters, it's generally agreed, are still bad. Unfortunately by itself, ramccoid's AQUA only partially works to fix them in Next-Gen (the white foam overlay CDPR added is still everywhere). On the bright side, Enhanced Water by WT3WD is another gorgeous water overhaul which is still being actively developed for Next-Gen (and nukes the ugly white foam texture). It's basically the spiritual successor to AQUA.
WT3WD's splashes are also really nice, but you can still use ramccoid's splashes (and other AQUA textres) by installing both Enhanced Water + AQUA (give higher priority to AQUA). In this configuration, Enhanced Water will remove the white sea foam effect but you will get Ramccoid's SPLASHes (they are a bit more pronounced than WT3WD's) and his other water textures.
I also recommend one or more mods to increase particles. By the simplest is ZZZFX (an optional download from the mod Custom Clouds and Weather, do not use the main file, just get ZZZFX) which works great by itself, and is also compatible with everything else. It doubles the number of particles for around 1500 FX in the game, including water fx. There is also Better FX (with or without witcher signs) and Improved Particle Systems (ONLY use the download labeled NoShaders, witcher signs are affected so if you have other sign mods, give them higher priority than IPS) and both of those can be augmented with ZZZFX. You can even use all three. It makes a noticable difference to water splashes.
I've tried retexturing the smoke, my friend but the modkit just corrupts them when they are packaged into a mod. Can't do anything about them until the modkit is updated. I haven't checked out the fire, so maybe it's possible to do that.
This mod do not work all the time with me, half of the time i do not have splash(boat splashes are never here) wich is sad because your texture are amazing, i love the waterfall in particular, vanilla ain't that bad but this one is something else.
I have no problem with WEATHER fortunatly (I don't like vanilla rain, too thick, and its raining all the time in this game -_- ) exept for the texture sometimes not being here but the same thing happens in vanilla, this is different in SPLASH as the texture is almost never here but the vanilla ones are always here... If I had something to say negative aboutt weather this is that the rain isn't really visible all the time, this depends much of the lighting or if the scene is dark or not, But I don't like when rain is too visible so I won't complain about it, its just not always homegeneous/constistant (do this word exist in english? I have a doubt...)
I also have a problem with BLOOD but again i like vanilla blood so its ok (the blood pool of dead body looks like a star i could get you a screen if you want)
Anyway Thx for this great mods, I'd really liked to use them all but i don't know if your mods are responsible for the bugs or if its a game problem.
These problems are caused by the game engine because my effects are just retextures and nothing more. If CDPR had released a REDkit for W3, these bugs might have been solvable but with the MODkit these problems are totally beyond it's capabilities to fix.
I don't think this mod is working for me. I get bigger splashes with version 1 and noticed no change from waterfalls and cave drips. I've tried everything I know of to make sure it's compatible with my game including changing the load order and even deleting all my other mods to make sure it's not conflicting with any of those. I'm on 1.22.
The actual splash textures are the originals from v1. I've just fixed the normal maps from being corrupted when packed into a mod. They will look less intense because now the transparencies are working and don't just look like solid flat white drops.
I don't know what to suggest if you've tried all these remedies. Have you tried downloading the file again, in case it has been corrupted in some way? Have you tried merging the file with other texture mods? I fully recommend this to be done because it does fix a lot of issues. Otherwise, I have no idea why they are not working for you but are for me because at the end of the day they are just texture replacers with no scripts or mesh edits.
I tried merging all your texture mods together but I couldn't figure out the process. I think it had to do with too much characters or spaces in my file directories or something. For now I'll just stick with version 1 until I give that another try. Thanks!
The Mod Kit doesn't like spaces in your folder or file names, another thing to make doing things a pain. You have to replace spaces with a under score _ or delete then altogether for the Mod Kit to work properly. Have you tried Mod Merger?

As for the mod it appears to look the same as before. I think it's just a matter of taste rather than a problem with the mod.
Thanks again for your help and great mods.
